Paris FC 2000 were formed in 1969 in the east of Paris, in an attempt to re-launch professional football in the French capital. An attempted merger with Sedan failed and it finally merged with Stade St-Germain to form Paris St-Germain.

However this merger was short lived as, under pressure from the Mayor, they split with Stade St-Germain in 1972, leaving two clubs - Paris FC and PSG. PFC were allowed to keep all the professional players and their first division status whereas PSG were relegated to the third division (Championnat National).

The inevitable irony came in 1974 when PFC were relegated from the top flight just as PSG were being promoted to the same division. PFC made it back to Ligue 1 in 1978, but finished 19th and were relegated immediately.

PFC skirted around the promotion places in Ligue 2 for the next few years before another split saw them relegated to the French fourth division. They were immediately relegated to division five before making it back to the fourth tier in 1988. They made it back to back promotions in 1989 to play in the third division.

Despite 11 seasons in the third division they only threatened to be promoted on one occasion and were relegated again in 2000 back down to the fourth division. In 2006 they finally managed to get back to the third division where they reside now. They finished 6th in the 2006-7 season.

They have a magnificent stadium which holds 25000 (although the attendance barely reaches 1000), Stade de Charlety:

This is where Santino Capelli, an Australian-Italian, comes in (err, that's me). I'm going to try and take Paris back to the top flight and win Ligue 1. We start out with just one player on a full-time contract, so that was my first task, to sign all my players on to full-time deals. The second task of course was to bring in new players that can gain us promotion back to Ligue 2 for the first time in 24 years. This will possibly be my final project till FM09

Transfers

I shan't bore you guys with every single transfer I was involved,so I'll just go through the important ones:

IN:
Salvatore Fresi (free) from Battapagliese - a star for me in my Vercelli game, he was the first player on my shortlist.

Alex Fernandez (free) frrom Coslada - having heard so much about this guy on FMF, I took the plunge and signed him - never managed him before (I have nicknamed him Alejandro by the way).

Pascal Bedrossian (free) from Crozon - an Armenian international, he's an attacking midfielder. Will compete with Planus, my other attacking midfielder.

Alessandro (35k) from RS Futebol - a young Brazilian goalkeeper who was slightly better than the keeper I already had.

Carlinhos (28k) from Portugesa Santista - a 36 year old Barzilain midfielder but still with an excellent touch.

Teddy Bertin (free) from Cozes - a 38 year old defender with excellent stats - apart from his aerobic attributes. My captain.

Nabil Berkak (free) from Unattached - a 23 year old right wing-back with good pace, good mental stats and cross a bit.

Michael Flasse (free) from Heppignies - 22 year old defender with average stats.

Douada Bamba (£7k) from Vannes - a 25 year old strong defender, signed from divisional rivals :)

I spent £70k but recouped £240k.I have money left to spend but there is no-one of any quality who is interested in coming to me plus I daren't spend it - our attendance is one of the worst in the league and we have just £94k left in the bank! I sorted out the coaching staff - we have just 4 coaches but have managed to get four stars on all categories.

This is going to be more of a challenge than I imagined - the standard is higher than I expected and we are going to struggle with that poor attendance. After two home games our average attendance is 751 - Nimes have 6000 a match, and there are 5 more teams with over 2000 on average.

I finalised my incomings very early on (7th July!) - I needed them to gel quickly. Most of the players in my original squad were also in their first seasons with the club. I have only two players now who have been at the club before this summer - and they aren't first team regulars!

After some encouraging pre-season results I was feeling optimistic (I had told the board I will gain promotion - something I'm regretting a little now).

An awful first half from my new team. Germany's header looped over the keeper and then bad defending at a corner sent us two nil down. Alejandro put away a penalty (Leroy won it) on his debut just before half-time and Fresi made up for his mistake by scoring from a corner. Arles didn't have a chance in the second half and pleased that we came back from two goals down but we should have won this game - against a weak team at home. 11 debutants though!

A last gasp goal from Alejandro gave us the win we deserved but didn't seem like we were going to get. An away win and pleased.

Henaini 15 Alejandro 43,47 Bedrossian 61 - Dabo 16
We played some breathtaking football against one of the favourites for promotion, although the first three gools we scored were as a result of poor defending from Tours. Henaini scored from a rebound after Bedrossian had chased a route one and his shot had been saved. Dabo slid in the immediate equaliser as the ball span along the goal line after Alessando had saved. Just before half-time Alejandro capitalised on a through ball that the keeper should have swept up and just after half-time Alejandro took adavantage of a poor backpass. For our 4th goal we strung together 8 passes starting from our own penalty box, before Bedrossian skinned one and scored from 20 yards. 4-1 but it could have been more, absolutely delighted.

I saw this as a tricky game, away to a team predicted to finish mid-table. I was proved right as they raced into a 2-0 lead. Bertin curled in a 25 yard free kick, but they restored their two goal cushion just after the break - all of their goals coming from set-pieces. But we managed to rally and the substitutes did the business, and we looked like we might nick it in the late stages.

Rodez 0-0 Paris
Our first really poor performance as Rodez probably edged the match, but there were only 2 shots on target all match from both teams. An away match, but against a team predicted to finish second-bottom and I was pretty unhappy with the result.


I sit 7th in the league, with a game in hand after 5 matches. We are going to need some luck to get promoted. I doubt I will get any transfer funds next year, whether we get promoted or not.
