Wexford are the only Amateur team in the Irish First Division and lack both money and good quality players. They are expected to finish bottom and have odds of 5000-1 to get promoted. For every match in the league I have 50-1 odds of winning, can I take them to the top and make a name for myself. First update to come soon. Bad news, they can leave whenever they want to whoever they want. The only player that managed to keep his place in the squad is Conor Sinnott. I'm hoping the "Big man, little man" partnership of Darren Jack and Conan Byrne pays off and my star defender Hans Frosdi Hansen who I know from when I managed the Faroe Islands is a great player will do well for us at the back. Friendly results will be posted soon, then monthly reports from then on. We should of beat Bedford but we crumbled in the second half. We played well against Huddersfield but there finishing was too good. We look good for the new season though and every player in fit and no Injurys. | This is for you James, hope you like it | | | 15-08-08, 05:54 PM | #6 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Chasetown Posts: 123 Thanks: 10 Thanked 20 Times in 19 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | great results, what formation you using? | Matchday Programme : £5 Petrol to get to Molineux : £10 Ticket at Molineux : £450 Watching a fat Baggies fan fall over : Priceless We love you Keogh, we do We love you Keogh, we do We love you Keogh, we do Oh Keogh we love you | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Glenn1wolves For This Useful Post: | | 15-08-08, 06:13 PM | #7 (permalink) | | FMF Accountant - Here To Help Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Southampton Posts: 1,502 Thanks: 147 Thanked 442 Times in 321 Posts Nominated 11 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 1 | Great start Wednesday but im pretty sure Josh Darling is just a 14yr old kit who plays for some team named Owls :p lol | Current Game: Blackburn Rovers Season 1 - Playing | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Bowser For This Useful Post: | | 15-08-08, 06:32 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Official FMF Writer Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Adliswil, Switzerland Posts: 2,188 Thanks: 290 Thanked 425 Times in 409 Posts Nominated 3 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | great result's for youre team, hope you win the league ;) | Ashmore. | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to ChrisA For This Useful Post: | | 15-08-08, 06:54 PM | #9 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 1,518 Thanks: 430 Thanked 306 Times in 291 Posts Nominated 6 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Quote: Originally Posted by Glenn1wolves great results, what formation you using? | Its a 4-4-2 formation but with a little difference, the strikers are in a sort of big man, little way. Keep hold of Sinnott and Eimes. Great signings in Baba and Payne, 2 players i always sign when i'm in the lower leagues. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 0 Athlone Town Another win, this time in front of the TV camera's, it looks like it might be a great season for the Youths. Jack missed a penalty after 2 minutes but Byrne scored a minute later. McGrenaghan and Murphy scored to make it 3-0. It wasn't all good as Guselli got injured and is out for 3 weeks. First Division - Kildare County 1 - 2 Wexford Youths Another win, but it took a McGrenaghan goal in the 87th minute to win it for them, Jack scored a penalty to put us in front before Kildare equalised. Wexford Youths finished the month top of the league and Josh was named manager of the month. Month 2 First Division - Wexford Youths 1 - 2 Shelbourne Wexford were brought back down to earth, Shelbourne who were tipped to win the league went 2-0 up before McGrenaghan who is on fire made it 2-1 in the 74th minute. First Division - Monaghan Utd 2 - 1 Wexford Youths We played well and were unlucky to go 1-0 down but we clawed it back to 1-1 in the second half, but in the 81st minute, Monaghan scored a great free kick to go 2-1 up. First Division - Wexford Youths 0 - 0 Finn Harps A boring 0 - 0 draw, we came close to scoring when McGrenaghan got on the end of a free kick but it went just wide. First Division - Kilkenny City 0 - 2 Wexford Youths Despite the win, I was very up with the amount of injuries I picked up in this match. My star Centre mid Bradley is out for a month and Left winger Murphy is out for up to 2 months, which means I only have one Left Midfielder, so if he's injured I'll be in trouble. Another unbelievable goal from McGrenaghan and a first goal for Abdullah sealed the win. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 2 Limerick 37 In front of 377 fans and the Setanta Camera's, my Wexford recorded a 3-2 win against rivals Limerick, Former Wexford Youth player Kevin Doyle was spotted in the crowd cheering as Jack made it 3-1 with a header, Limerick went on to make it 3-2 but Wexford held on to win. A Goal from Byrne and a Jack penalty gave Wexford a 3-2 win. Got drawn Finn Harps in the 2nd Round of the Senior Challenge Cup. Lets hope we have a better game than the last time I played them. Oh and McGrenaghan won goal of the month, a 30 yar screamer against Kilkenny City. Big blow as Hansen got injured, he was a great CB and will be missed. First Division - Athlone Town 0 - 2 Wexford Youths We got straight back on the horse and won this one with goals from Jack and McGrenaghan. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 0 - 0 Athlone Town Boring game to be honest, the only really action was there player being sent off. Senior Challenge Cup 2nd Round - Wexford Youths 0 - 1 Finn Harps Very unlucky to lose this one, we played well, had loads of the ball and created chances but they scored the only goal to knock us out of the cup. Now we have to focus on the league. Wexford sign 22 year old Dennis Fenemore to provide cover for the midfield, Fenemore can play as DM and CM and is looking forward for playing football at his new club. Month 4 First Division - Shelbourne 0- 1 Wexford Youths A great performance from the lads to get a win against professional side and winners of the Irish Premier League 5 times out of 8 years. Darren Jack was the hero but the match ended badly for him after he was taken off with an Injury and would miss the next match. First Division - Wexford Youths 0 - 1 Cobh Ramblers A decent performance from Wexford but if I'm really honest we never looked lke we were going to take anything from this match. First Division - Wexford Youths 2 - 2 Monaghan Utd A much better performance but it started badly as we went 2-0 down after 11 minutes. Mazza scored first for us and nearly scored the equliser but missed the penalty, Abdullah scored the other 20 minutes from time to make it 2-2. First Division - Finn Harps 3 - 0 Wexford Youths We went looking for revenge and got destroyed by Finn Harps, looks like there going to be my nightmare team this year. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 0 Kilkenny City At the start of the season, Kilkenny were the team that I wanted to finish above in the table as they were predicted to finish jut above us in 9th. But now we look alot better than them and they seem to have taken our place in the league system. Goals from Mazza, Abdullah an returning Hansen made it 3-0. Month 5 First Division - Limerick 373- 1 Wexford Youths A late goal from Abdullah saved us some pride but Limerick 37 were run away winners in this match. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 0 Dundalk Byrne ended his 11 hour goal drought with a hatrick to make us run away winners and now it looks like the loanee striker will be hammering more home in the next few weeks. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 0 Athlone Town Good news, we ot the much needed 3 points, bad news is we lost more players to injury and the small squad keeps getting smaller. A goal from Bradley gave us the win but Mazza and McGrenaghan are both out for at least 2 months. First Division - Kildare County 2 - 2 Wexford Youths Strikers Byrne and Jack get the goals but its wasn't all good as Hansen gets injured again and McColl gets sent off and will miss the next 3 games. First Division - Cobh Ramblers 1- 0 Wexford Youths We lose again to the Ramblers 1-0, but this time we should of at least got a draw but it wasn't ment to be. | This is for you James, hope you like it | | | 17-08-08, 04:08 PM | #18 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 1,518 Thanks: 430 Thanked 306 Times in 291 Posts Nominated 6 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Month 6 T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 1 Shelbourne We've beat them again, but this definatly is not the side it once was, the manager was sacked after this game and the team lie 9th in the league. 2 from Jack and one from Abdullah secured the win. On te downside thought Murphy was injured so I now have no Left wingers in my squad. First Division - Monaghan Utd 0 - 2 Wexford Youths A 2-0 win gives us a great start to the month, lets hope it continues. Goalscorers were Byrne and Abdullah. First Division - Wexford Youths 3 - 1 Finn Harps I really thought I was going to lose against my Boogie team as many of my players had slight injuries and I was forced to play some U18 players but the Youth at Wexford Youths did me proud. Strikers Liam O'Loughlin and Flynn O'Connor got one each and makesift left winger Fitzgerald got the other in this 3-1 victory. First Division - Kilkenny City 1 - 3 Wexford Youths Another 3-1 win to end the best month since I took them over, 4 wins in 4. Byrne and Jack were on target again. Byrne opened the scoring and Jack got 2 to make it 3-1. Month 6 First Division - Wexford Youths 0 - 1 Limerick 37 Wexford felt heartache as rivals Limerick 37 scored in the 3rd minute of Injury time to beat us 1-0. I had nothing but simpathy for the lads. They worked hard and to lose like that was a disgrace. First Division - Dundalk 1 - 1 Wexford Youths Bradley put us in front early on but Dunalk equalised, Terris got himself sent off late on as the match ended 1-1. First Division - Athlone Town 0 - 0 Wexford Youths A bore draw, but it was 1 point gained in my opinion, after all, I go into every game hoping to get somthing out of it. I was gla to get a point from this game. T.V. First Division - Wexford Youths 1 - 1 Kildare County Jacks goal secured a point in an overwise boring game where nothing really happened. First Division - Wexford Youths 1 - 1 Cobh Ramblers Another draw to end the month on and I'm slowly dropping points to the teams around me, I need to win soon if I'm going to keep up with the pack in the final straight. Kavanagh got the goal for us but Fenemore got himself injured which means I'm going to have to dig into the youth again for a Central midfielder. A brilliant season so far, better than I ever expected, but here comes the bad news, the performance of the players has put them into the spotlight and because hey are on amateur contacts, they can leave whenever they want. So far my Central defender Daniel Terris and Reserve Goalkeeper have been offered contracts from fifferent clubs and look set to leave. I fear more will leave too. | This is for you James, hope you like it | | | 17-08-08, 04:10 PM | #19 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Portsmufff Posts: 518 Thanks: 189 Thanked 72 Times in 70 Posts Nominated 19 Times in 5 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Nice first season so far with Wexford!
