Leon Mike was awesome. But January came along and Ipswich dangled loads of money (with add ons) in front of my board and they went over my head and accepted it.

I only had him for half a season and he scored that much. I can't help but wonder how many he'd have if he'd stayed at Ship Lane with us.

But that's football I suppose.

It happens Ru. Happened to me with Paulinho, I was gutted, but we've gone from strength to strength since then (while he has been sh!t - he's now playing in Serie C/2).

I'm sure the same will happen for you. One player does not make a team - even though it is absolutely gutting when it happens and you feel helpless! You will find it amusing to look back as the seasons go on and mock the players that have jumped ship in the belief they were going to a 'bigger club' LMAO.

It's actually quite funny.

He played a few games for Ipswich last season after he was sold (12 games & 5 goals) but now the new season has come around, he's been dumped into the reserves and he's match fit!

A sign of things to come for him?

Exact same thing happened with Paulinho (9 games, 2 goals all season) - I found it very amusing, especially as we were promoted the season he left and were in the same division as him the very next season as a result. I bought him back (for 200k cheaper than I sold him) as my second-choice striker, but he was poor and I sold him for 500k. Now I'm in Serie A and where is he? 4 divisons down! A lot can happen in 4 years! He's still listed as one of my clubs favoured personnel though lol!

Don't worry about Mike - you will progress without him.

I've been promoted!!!! After four seasons of languishing in non-league football, I have guided Thurrock to League Two. I also got my 3rd and 4th trophies this season. It's now four trophies in four seasons with Thurrock. I just hope I'll be able to carry the form into next season. It's going to be rough.
I did think about leaving Thurrock to be honest. Even going as far applying for a couple of jobs. Thurrock's parent club, Gillingham actually offered me a job but they had recently been relegated to League Two themselves so I decided to stay at Ship Lane for another season and see if we can progress further.

Haha, nah. I'm not leaving Thurrock now but I did want to. Like I said, I'm gonna see how this season goes. I'll more than likely stay until I am 'asked' to leave.

Can't see us winning the Champions League in 5 seasons though. If I keep going the way I am though, it'll be around 9 or 10 seasons.

Getting promoted to the top division is the hard bit, as I found with Vercelli, Birdy found with Bedford and Bowser will find with Eastleigh.

Yeah, I tried it with Peterborough before. Got all the way to the Championship from League Two but could never make that jump to the top flight.

I'll just be happy to get to League One with Thurrock to be honest with you.

By far my best signing. I got him on a freebie in the summer of 2008 and he's been consistant. Even in 2009/10 he had a thigh injury that kept him out of the side for ages but he still finished the season on 31 goals.

He's only just 22 as well and he's Thurrock's greatest ever scorer as well.

I just hope he stays with us.

You can easily get to the Championship. League One and Two aren't THAT much stronger than Blue Square to be honest. Good luck anyway.

He's not actually that great. Brilliant for the lower leagues but I'm not sure why Ipswich spent just shy of a mill for him.

They are awesome stats for the lower leagues. Especially the jumping and strength.
