Slovan Bratislava - FMFormation.net - Football Manager

So after my last save crashed I decided to try to manage one of the teams im my home country. The choice was easy as Slovan is my all time favourite team. But they had seen better times.
My goal is to win the league in 2-3 seasons. Transfer budget I was given is 100 k Euro, that no so bad. but the problem is the wage budget, which is 15500 euro and when I took over they have already 450euro over the budget. So I have to offload some players before I sign anybody. I will post later today my transfers and first games.

I, for one, has never been in charge of a Slovan team so it'll be interesting to see how you get on.

So I started, the team need`s some improvements. But it`s not so easy to get somebody to play in Slovakia, specialy if he is not Slovakian. So far my transfers in :
Oswaldo Chaurant AMLRC Deportivo Tachira 5k - looks very promising
Tomas Kona MC Sparta Prague Loan
Joey Hutchinson DC Free transfer
Jiri Tischler DC Ceske Budejovice Loan
Babatounde Bello ST Zilina 40k

Still looking for more players, any recommendations welcome. Some striker would be great.

Great result against Legia after losing the first leg. It's not always easy to bounce back like that.

Thanks, that was a great game. But after that it is going very bad. I`m struggling, specialy away games are a nightmare. Can`t find a tactic which would suit them away. After Legia I lost to Otulu 3:1, then against Banska Bystrica 5:1. I actually didn`t have a good away game. Gonna post some pics later today as I`m in work now.

I suppose to finish around the middle of the table, Slovak league has 12 teams, so I`m not to far, but still I dont like the way my team is playing.

this looks like quite a interesting game as i have never played in Slovakia... What are your best players and skill wise would any of them make it in the prem ?

I dont think that any of my players woulf do any good in premier league, maybe in the lower leagues. Best player would be Oswaldo Chaurant AMLRC, even when I dont play good he is doing well. I will post a screenshot in the evening. There are some good players in Slovak league, you should check Artmedia or Zilina, two best teams in Slovakia. And from not so expensive slovakian players which play abroad I can recommend Sapara from Trondheim in Norway. You could get him for around 1.5M Euro and he is good as AMC or ML with an arrow to AMC. There are other good Slovak players which would do good in England, specialy Vittek and Mintal both from Nurnberg in Gremany, but the are not so cheap. Vittek scored 24 goals in his first season with me at Man UTD.

My first season is over. After strugling in the first half of the season (I was on the 9th place from 12), the winter break was very helpfull, my team started to perform like I would like them to. I played 15 games with the record : 10W 4D 1L, which brought me up to the 4th place, not so bad at all.
Oswaldo Chaurant got the top goal scorer, highest avg rating, player of the year awards. He played 37 games and got 26 goals. 5 assists, 11 MoM, avg 7.49. There was a lot of offers from Holland, Germany, Italy (700k. I got him for 5k.), but I didnt want to sell him and fortunately he didnt want to go
Then came the "nice" suprice from my board that my transfer budget for the next season is 0 Euro. But still I was able to get some players in. Specialy I`m happy abou Robert Rak SC. in my first league game I got Zilina, the champions from previous season and I beat them 4:2, Chaurant 1G+3A, Rak 2G.
Looking forward to this season, hopefully I can challenge the title.

Season 2:

10 games in to the season I’m on the first place 1 point ahead of other two teams, my record is G10-W6-D4-L0. So not so bad. However I don’t
play as good as I played in the last season.
I had to sell my best player Oswaldo Chaurant, I couldn’t keep him any longer and the offer was to good to refuse, 1.5M Euro for a player I paid 5k only after 1 season !!! I brought in Alex Fernandez ST, Vidic DC!!! (not the one from UTD, it’s his cousin from Zilina) and Karim Guede a very good DM from Artmedia. As I finished 4th last year I don’t play any European cups and I can fully concentrate on winning the league.

So after my holiday some quick update on my progress.
Season 2:

So in my second season my goal was to win the title. Unfortunatelly I wasn`t
able to do so. I finished 2nd after Zilina mostlu due to 11 draws in the season.
At least I did qualify for the UEFA Cup.

Season 3:

This year it had to happen, I really wanted to win the league this year, getting better and better every season, I hoped that this year, I can bring the title home and after a very good season I did !!!! Nice bonus was, that I was able to win the Slovak FA
Cup as well. In the UEFA Cup I did good as well:
1st qual.round I played Hibernian from Malta and after winning twicw 3:0 I was
in the next round.
2nd qual.round: I got the Scottich team from Gretna, first game was at home and got a promising 4:2 win, then in the away game I won 2:0 and I was ready for the next round.
1st round: Kaiserisport from Turkey, after drawing 1:1 at home in the 1st leg I didn`t think that I have any chance to qualify, the away game was very interesting and I
lost in the end 4:3.
My best singing was B.Fodrek AMC/FW on a free transfer from Petrzalka, I played
him as AMC, His stats: 41G 24Gl. 11A 10MoM 7,43Avg.
In the end it was definetely my best season so far and with some good transfers I
hope to do even better next season, specially in Europe.

Season 4:

I have high expectations from this season. Win the league and do as much I can in
Europe. In the leaugue I`m second so far after 5 games. It`s very tight with first 6
teams within 3 points.
Champions League:
1st qual.round I got Xaraz, a team from Azerbajdzan. I was hoping for two easy games, but after winnig 2:1 at home a lost 3:2 away and was happy to go thru on away goals.
2nd qual.round: Dinamo Kiev form Ukraine, I was not happy with the draw, Kiev
has a very strong team. In the first game couldn`t start worse, 39min gone 3:0
down !!! I was able to score 1 before HT. I change my tactic for ned second half
and hoped for the best, until the 73min nothing happened I was slowly givin up
hope when I scored after a corner, 3min later it was 3:3 and after 5min I was up
4:3 !!! Unbelievable game.
2nd leg, away: another goal feast ended 4:4 and I was in the next round :), mostly thanksto hatt-rick from Bebatounde Bello, my 19 year old striker.
3rd qual.round: I was hoping to get someone relatively easier and I ended up against
Manchester UTD !!!! I try my best, but honestly I think this will be the end station
for my team.

The two United games are behind me and it ended like everybody was thinking it will end. Maybe not exactly like everyone was expecting because my team did fight until the end. First game was pretty much in Manchester’s control and I was happy to loose only 2:1.
Then came the away game and my hopes where even smaller than before the 1st leg. But my team did surprise me with a good solid performance and I lost only 3:2.
Not bad for a Slovak team against UTD. :)
After this I was eagerly waiting for the UEFA 1st round draw, I got the Czech team from Prague, Slavia ! I was happy enough as this team is in many ways similar to mine. And it’s going to be interesting for the fans as Slovakia and Czech Republic where one country once and there where always high emotions between the teams from Bratislava an Prague.

The best thing in this month was that I got thru to the UEFA group stage.
In the league I`m on the senond place 3 points behind the leader and I got
thru to next round of the Slovak Cup as well. Alex Fernandez got the Player
of the month award.

Season 4 Summary

Slovak 1st Division:

As the current champion my expectations where high. Nothing else than
retaining the title would be satisfying. I have to say that all season long
I didn`t doubt that I will win. The team played very good all season and
I was able to lift the trophy once again.

Champions League:

End stop was the 3rd Qual. round where I played Man Utd. After a solid performance in both games ( 1:2 H, 2:3 A) I was going to try my luck in UEFA
cup.

UEFA Cup:

After defeating Slavia Prague 4:1 I was handed a tough group with AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund, Kayserisport and Standard.
Results:
Slovan - Standard A : 0:2
Slovan - Kayserisport H : 4:2 - my best game with Slovan !!!
Slovan - AS Roma : A 1:4
Slovan - Dortmund : H 1:1
So I finnished 4th in the group just 1 point behind Dortmund :(
But I think that with this team I can be happy to achieve the group stage.

To sum it up, I think I did good, the season was a succes. For next year I hope I can do even more in Europe ( CL group stage is the goal ).

Season 5 Summary

Transfers :

As some of my best players wanted to move to bigger clubs (I think they moved to crap clubs :), I had to bring in some quality players. As I wanted this year to do well in Europe I decided to bring more players in to have cover for all competitions.
I was very happy with my transfers in, especially I was eager to J.Kozak in action, i got him on free transfer from Lille, he is one of the best AMC from Slovakia. In later stages of the season I found out that ny Itakian signings:
Nieto, Paonessa, Giglio and Lorrini are all great players :). And I was very happy with thecapture of J.Tischler DC, who played in my team on loan in my first two seasons.

Slovak 1st Division:

Again this year the goal was the title. Have to say that this year I didnt have any problems. The new palyers where to much for the other teams. At least I could concentrate on Europe.

Champions League:

My goal was to reach for the first time the group stage. Unfortunately it didnt happen again :( 3rd Qual. round was the end stop again. FC Porto was the team to stop our dream to come thru :(
