Monday 28th August
Manchester City 0-1 Wigan

47,976 fans travelled to The City Of Manchester Stadium to watch Man City play Wigan. It was quite a boring game, and the only goal came after 29 minutes, when Marcelo picked up a loose ball and placed it in the back of the net past Swedish goalkeeper, Isaksson. Wigan had 18 shots in total, with 8 of them being on target. Russian attacking midfielder Alexey Yermenko had to go off after 81 minutes after being injured by Sylvain Distin.

Saturday 9th September
Wigan 0-0 Arsenal

It was a boring game at the JJB stadium, with the only event being a David Bentley injury in the 19th minute, Arsenal were the better team of the game, but couldn't get past a solid Wigan defence.

Saturday 16th September
Watford 0-1 Wigan

Wigan travelled to Vicarage road today expecting nothing less than a win, and they got what they came for, just. It was all square until Wagnér broke the deadlock after 88 minutes! Wagner played a great ball to David Bentley, who went past the last defender with ease and got a shot in from a tight angle which was turned away by Foster, only to go to Wagnér again who scored from the rebound! Matthew Spring got sent off for Watford in the 91st minute, after getting his first yellow in the 90th minute!

Tuesday 19th September
Cardiff 1-4 Wigan

With morales high from their recent form, Wigan went into the League Cup second round game against Cardiff with every ounce of confidence. It only took Thiago Ribeiro 5 minutes to skip past the Cardiff defence and score an easy goal. It was his first game starting for Wigan as well!

19 minutes later, Polanski played a great ball to Thiago Ribeiro who took a fabulous strike from a very tight angle which curled into the back of the net past a bewilderd Cardiff goalkeeper to give Thiago Ribeiro his second goal of the game! After 37 minutes Cardiff pulled a goal back when Marcelo gave away free-kick that met the head of Kevin Campbell and then met the back of the net. Then in the last minute of the first half N'Zogbia collected a loose ball, made some space for himself then blasted a ball at the goal that Neil Alexander had no hope of stopping! The score was 3-1 at half time.

Nothing really happened in the second half until 34 minutes in when Polanski recieved a header from Alexey Yeremenko, moved into some free space, then blasted a typically powerfull shot with venom at Cardiffs goal to make it 4-1. Marcelo had a shot with a minute left to go but Neil Alexander comfortably caught it, then the final whistle went to put Wigan through to the 3rd round of the league cup. Eugen Polanski picked up the man of the match award.

Sunday 24th September
Wigan 2-1 Portsmouth

A Dry, warm day at the JJB Stadium today, and 24,394 fans turned up to watch Wigans 2-1 victory over Portsmouth. After just 2 minutes, Thiago Ribeiro headed the ball to Iaquinta who managed to get a shot in from a tight angle that found its way into the goal! 52 minutes into the match and Balci Serkan gave away a free-kick. O'neill took a brilliant free-kick that went through every one and into the back of the net! It was just looking like it was going to end with the score tied in the 90th minute, when Polanski hit a fierce shot at David James who could only parry it to Alexey Yeremenko, who pounced on the rebound and put it past James to win the game for Wigan and pick up a man of the match award!

Hi, brilliant idea i might have to give it a go.
What patch are you using?
Saw you managed to sign Marcelo, how on earth did you convince him to come to Wigan of all places. He never wants to come to Newcastle?

It is on Fm 2007 charlie, patch 7.0.2
I don't know, might of been to do with my finances or something. Might be my amazing charm ;-) lol.
You could do it with some big club as well, like Chelsea or someone instead of just managing them with all their good players!

The weather was dry, and the temperature about 12 degrees celsius and everyone was confident and fired up for the game. Wagner tripped Steven Carr over and got sent off in the 17th minute! Wigan had to play over 70 minutes with 10 men! That didn't put them off though, after 27 minutes Robbie Keane came forward, put a low cross in to the near post which Eugen Polanski finished with a neat little flick!

December Results

Wigan 3-1 Reading
Robbie Keane (32) Hosain Kaebi (46,58) | Péter Máté (74)

Managers Comment: "A great result against reading, just like everyone expected!"

Charlton 0-1 Wigan
Steven Taylor (21)

Managers Comment: "Not a very big scoreline like i expected, but a wins a win "

Wigan 4-1 Aston Villa
Steven Taylor (5) Thiago Ribeiro (7,82) Alexey Yeremenko (9) | Milan Baros (55)

Manager Comment: "A fantastic result! im delighted with the whole team, especially man of the match Thiago Ribeiro, he was outstanding!"

Bolton 2-0 Wigan (League Cup Quarter Final)
Kevin Nolan (14,61)

Manager Comment: "Not the result i was looking for, and im dissapointed with my goalkeeper Kameni, letting in 2 out of the 3 shots that managed to get past my solid defence, but at least now we can concentrate more on the league in which we are doing extremely well in at the moment, we still have a chance to win the Fa Cup and if im honest, that would be more of an achievement for me!

Blackburn 2-1 Wigan
Shabani Nonda (17,22) | Vincenzo Iaquinta (54)

Manager Comment: "Again, not my idea of a good result, and i was expecting to beat Blackburn, i think i am going to have to change my tactics, I was pleased that Iaquinta gave us hope of an equaliser in the 2nd half, but it never came.

Wigan 3-1 Liverpool
Nicolás Burdisso (27) David Bentley (84) Thiago Ribeiro (90) | Mark Gonzalez (3)

Manager Comment: "I wasnt expecting a draw, let alone a 2 goal win, especially after Liverpool scored after just 3 minutes! An excellent performance from my team!
