Good luck next season. I created a database to include my old pub team and put them in League 2....they are heading the opposite way to Sheffield that's for sure! | Thanks to Liveru for the sig My Current Game Shrewsbury - Coca Cola League 2 | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Jonners71 For This Useful Post: | | 12-07-08, 05:26 PM | #25 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 1,520 Thanks: 430 Thanked 308 Times in 292 Posts Nominated 6 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | So on to Season 2... Pre-Season Some great results here which gave me hope for the future, tried to sign two players in the reading team and they both punished me me in that friendly. Against the Sheffield United first team we play unbelievable, they had the likes of Billy Sharp, James Beatie and Micheal Tonge and we still managed to draw and to be honest... win, even though we had 10 men after 55 min cos Connor Smith was sent off. Transfers Another eventful summer and I have gotten some quality players to replace the loan quality last season. Maxime Chanot rejoins on loan aswell as recently signed striker Sam Vokes from Sheffield Wednesday. The other two loans provide cover for the first team. 19 year old GK Joe Sagar and 36 year old GK Lee Harper both join on frees to go in net, both back ups to the first team ensuring healthy competition for the No1 shirt. Nearly all players signed have Good L2/Leading L1 potential and hot prospect Jason Howes is a striker who will become one of the L1 superstars of the future and possibly Onani Lowe's replacement following his retirment in a few seasons. I have a feeling we may be in for another positive season. My only worry is that we have a smaller squad than last year and we are in 2 more competitions so we have less players to cope with more matches, afraid we might crumble at the wrong time. more to come soon | This is for you James, hope you like it | | | 12-07-08, 05:36 PM | #26 (permalink) | | FMF Donator, V.I.P and Writer. I'm sure I've seen him do well on FM before. Good luck in the BSP. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to liveru For This Useful Post: | | 24-07-08, 05:06 PM | #27 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 1,520 Thanks: 430 Thanked 308 Times in 292 Posts Nominated 6 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | First off I'm sorry for not updating in a while but I've been busy doing my school work, had to go in the first 3 days of the holidays to finish work but I'm back now for the summer and I'm going to get them into the premiership. Results in the League Very good league results and as you can tell from the table below, at the beginning of the season I was worried we wouldn't have enough depth to mount a title challenge but the youngsters who have I signed last season such as Conner Smith, Scott Morris, Bernard White and Rob Pinnock have forced there way into the first team and are already at BSP-L1 ability and still improving. Was worried when Onani Lowe hurt himself and was out for 3-5 months but Loanee Sam Vokes and strikers Onome Sodje and Dax Hoogerherf and youngster Jason Howes have stepped up and given me some thinking to do when he comes back. Table 2nd and close to first place I think that we might make the play-offs at the least. I really want to get into League 2 next year so I can face Chesterfield and start to make some serious money, at the moment I'm making 20k+ Results in the Cup What can I say, we played really well in every game and should have won them all but Carlisle's finishing was just too good, along with a poor refereeing decision. Referee is a Pinnock!! says Darling Sheffield took the lead with 18 year old Rob Pinnock who replaced injured Captain Sean Coburn in the 40th min when he bent a 30 yard free-kick into the top corner of the net and we went in at half time 1-0 up. But after the break Carlisle's quality shined through as there Brazilian Midfielder Douglas Rinaldi stuck just minutes into the second half before Zigor Aranalde, the Spanish left back ran at the back post and headed home from McGarry's cross on 81 minutes to make it 2-1. But the drama wasn't over yet as in the 91st minute, Rob Pinnock the goalscorer for Sheffield FC got the ball on the half way line and ran at Carlisle. Carlisle stepped off him as he ran towards the edge of the box, David Raven, the Carlisle centre back ran at him but he used his skill to take it past him and ran into the box, the keeper came out and Pinnock hit a furious shot towards the bottom corner but the keeper got a hand to it, yet it was still going on target, the defenders and strikers ran at the ball as it bobbled its way towards the net, the defender cleared it but only as far as Davis who sent the ball back towards goal, there is a huge scrap for it and the ball falls kindly to Conner Smith, the ex Burnley youngster strikes it into the top corner and runs off celebrating with the 800 Sheffield FC Supporters only for the officials to dissallow the goal due to a foul by Sam Vokes on David Raven. The fans and players of Sheffield FC were furious but not as much as manager Joshua Darling who said after the game "Its a discrace that officials like that still exist in this game, I've watched the video and there was nothing wrong with the challenge that Sam (Vokes) made, if it was two footed or he used his hands then I'd understand but it was just a strong challenge and he won the ball, the decision cost us the match and a replay and a possiblity of reaching the second round which after the performance by my guys out there today, is what they should have at least gotten." Darling's comments have earned him a warning off the FA and the FA have also demanded an apology for his Public outburst which darling has not yet responded to. Meanwhile Carlisle manager Jon Turner told reporters that Darling had every right to be angry as he felt that the tackle wasn't a foul either but that unfortunatly these things happen in football, he also put his neck on the line and critisised the FA for punishing Darling for speaking his mind and also asking for an apology even though they are in the wrong, going on to say that the FA isn't a fair organisation anymore and have become 'greedy' and obsesed with the power they hold. When asked about his view on Darling and his promising career he said "There is no doubt in my mind and also in the mind of many in football that he is a promising manager and what he's done with Sheffield FC is Magical, just look at there league performances but also there performances against teams like us, who are 2 divisions above them and would usually be destroyed by us but Darling has made them into a formidable force. When I saw the draw, I thought I had hit the jackpot and was off to the second round but that was not the case. It will only be a matter of time before the teams in the big leagues come after him. No wonder you're doing well - excellent use of loan and free signings. Keep the morale up and you'll be winging your way up the divisions. Don't know if you can get him, but Onandi Lowe has a great team-mate, cheap, fairly low ambition at the moment in Rudolph Austin. Probably not a possibility though unless his contract is due... | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Redhawk For This Useful Post: | | 27-07-08, 03:25 PM | #31 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Sheffield Posts: 1,520 Thanks: 430 Thanked 308 Times in 292 Posts Nominated 6 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Thanks Redhawk, ya I've heard of him, tbh I've signed just about every Jamaican Based player on the game because they are so cheap, will accept little wages and are L1/Championship quality but they come to Non-league sides. Unlucky for me though is that I had a bid of 90k over 18 months rejected by Portmore Utd, then Celta placed a 250k bid for him and he went there. | This is for you James, hope you like it | | | 27-07-08, 03:43 PM | #32 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Cumbria, UK Posts: 832 Thanks: 142 Thanked 117 Times in 101 Posts Nominated 18 Times in 4 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Ouch. I have attempted to sign many such players with no luck. Maybe it is something to do with my team? (Bishops Storford). It also sucks that they only open up 5% of their transfer budget. My loaned players were amazing, Rhys Murphy, Rui Fonte and Vito Manonne (sp?). They dominated my league, Manonne loved my club and came back for loan in the BSP. | | | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | | |
