Sky Sports Headline News: Aston Villa FC have sadly confirmed that manager Martin O’Neill has resigned from the club because of family issues. O’Neil wished the club and players the best for the future during his very emotional last press conference.
Rumours have that Guus Hiddink, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Glen Hoodle, and Jose Mourinho are amongst the favourites to fill the vacancy.

It is Burrell’s first managerial job and he will have to impress the board quickly to avoid a quick sacking.
Burrell stated in his first press conference that he will be bringing in a couple of new faces to bolster up the squad to hopefully qualify for European football next year. Burrell later stated that he was honoured to be offered such a prestigious job and he can’t wait to take Villa back to where they belong; winning trophies.

Transfers:
Giourkas Seitaridis has joined Villa from Atletico Madrid and is Burrell’s first signing this summer. The clubs agreed a transfer fee of £5.5m for the Greek International. Burrell is a big admirer of the ex-Athletico who seems to be a direct replacement for Olof Mellberg.
Croatian International Darijo Srna has joined the club from Ukrainian side Shakhtar. He is Chris Burrell’s second signing of the summer for £9m. Burrell is excited about the Srna’s versatility who can play fullback, wingback, and midfielder on both flanks of the pitch.
Burrell is rumoured to be very interested in attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaart but the possibility of bringing the gifted played to Villa Park is far away since the two clubs are finding difficulties agreeing a transfer fee.
