The slow return to form

At last things start to improve....after getting done twice by the gooners already I get some revenge in this 8 goal thriller....

I was brought back to earth....

D 0-0 v Man City (Premier League)

But then another kind draw in the FA Cup followed by stuffing Chelsea in style....

Follow this up with another 3 points and the turn-around seems well underway....

W 2-0 v Blackburn (Premier League)

Surely now we can make a push for 4th at least (sounds all too familiar for Liverpool fans).....

Stuck in 2nd Gear

What is it with this season?? Everytime I start to think we've turned a corner they resort to this...

D 0-0 v Bolton (Premier League)

D 0-0 v Wigan (F.A. Cup)

I keep checking the job security page, but my position is still stable despite sitting mid-table for ages....Torres can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo and I'm wondering how far can we sink....it's Champions League time, an exit out of this at the 1st Knock out stage and surely the board will call me in the office...Inter Milan...away...just what I need...

But then this is Liverpool...however shocking the league form gets, they can still baffle you with results like this in Europe....

Now, surely this stop - start season is about to improve, Swansea are bottom of the league, we just destroyed Inter in the San Siro...my players must have walked out onto the Liberty Stadium pitch full of optimism....yeah right....same old crap....

D 0-0 v Swansea (Premier League)

This prompts yet another team meeting....this time Gerrard reports back that all the players are now fired up to turn things around (perhaps he should be manager, they obviously aren't listening to me)....it's the F.A. Cup replay next...a slip up here and the sack must surely come....

Saved....maybe Stevie G has done the trick...he's been more useful than my assistant manager who advises me to offload just about everyone as soon as possible...anyway...a kind word in the ear of Torres at half time sorts out his shocking run of form 2 2nd half goals and M.O.M) and at last, for the first time, it feels like I may be able to rescue something out of this season....

W 4-0 v Sunderland (Premier League)

The squad feel chirpier and perhaps I can cling onto my job afterall....

The players all agree with you Bowser...they are not happy with being a mid-table team....last 2 seasons were great but it's not gone to plan this season!

The Push For 4th

So things are looking a little brighter....perhaps 4th place will keep me in a job and next season will be back on track....key players are finding form at last and I feel they are on my side. Still in Europe, the hard work done in the San Siro I plan for the 2nd leg to be a dull affair...stifle Inter, don't worry about scoring, just keep it tight no matter how dull it gets...0-0 would be just fine....

Oh well....always good to see goals I guess...and into the Quarter Finals...

Luck of The Draw and Derby Day Fightbacks

Well I must admit, the F.A. Cup draws have been kind to me so far, 3 home ties against non-premiership teams...but c'mon...Man Utd away in the 6th round? I'd like to report a story of triumph but nope...despite the bset of efforts the cup run is over....

Well, life goes on I guess but I feel the pressure mount....the push for 4th must take priority now and a gritty win restores further hope...

W 1-0 v Aston Villa (Premier League)

But again it looked like my team were due to self destruct....away to Everton, surely losing to Utd and Everton in the same month would get me in all kinds of trouble and after 10 mins I was clearing my desk....but then the old Istanbul spirit kicked in and the Reds come good in the last minute...

The push for 4th is looking possible at last...

Well done mate from Getting liverpool from Mid Table to 5TH! Unlucky about the 2 Defeats to Man Utd although they are leading the table in you're game. Also what skin do you use? Because it looks nice.

It's all about Europe

This season has proved just how important the Champions League is to the big teams...everything revolves around getting in the top 4 at the end of the season and in true 2005 fashion, a poor season in the league has not stopped us stepping up a gear on the European nights.

Garay and Marcelo don't like each other but apart from that the squad have pretty much stayed in good spirits...vital for the final push.

Next up was Valencia, leading La Liga, this was going to be tough...

Still some hope then, give them a hostile night at New Anfield and this could be ok....back to the league and high flying Spurs, not what I needed...

Respectable, but really need to be winning my home games at this end of the season...but thats forgotten for now...it's a big night in Europe...can we turn it around and reach the semi's?

This sums up The Reds...put them in Europe and suddendly they can perform miracles....surely this will be enough to save my job...and who do I get in the semi finals? Yep...

Can we get revenge for everything?

The business end of the season

Pushing for 4th whilst hoping this will be enough to hang on to my job...and somehow into the UEFA Champions League Semi Finals...what could ruin things? A trip to Old Trafford? Well, it was all looking good but sometimes you know that going 2-0 up is not going to be enough...the game has decided your fate and no amount of tactical changes can save you...

I wince at the final whistle and wait for the backlash....no sooner have I hit continue than this lovely message is waiting for me...Sven? c'mon...

Well, what can I do but keep going...win what's left and see what happens...Newcastle are one place above me in the league..a 6 pointer...lose this and I may as well clear my office...

More of this and 4th is in sight...

At last....(if getting to 4th is something to celebrate?)...all we need to do is keep it going

A Half-Decent Team at Last

It may be too little too late but this Liverpool side are starting to find the form that has carried them through the last 2 seasons...it may not have won us the title but the season's end is giving some reason to be optimistic...the league form continues to come good and the European dream is still alive and kicking.

Suddenly a place in the final is a real possibility! In a season where we have under performed it's some kind of miracle but here we are, on the verge of a shot at winning the champions league.

Revenge and the path to glory

Another league victory takes us within touching distance of Champions league football next season....

and then it's a packed house for a massive night of European Football....can we break Chelsea hearts and reach the final against all the odds? I try not to get my hopes up, the whole season has been stop and start....

We've done it...into the final against Real Madrid...we've come a long way from a few months back, getting turned over by Sunderland and Birmingham....form at the right time....with just 2 league games to go the temptation to rest players is strong....my left back and right back are both suspended for the final...everyone else is fit and ready for the un-expected finale to this average season.

Seeing out the season

2 games to go, 3rd place is the best we can hope for but I would have taken that half way through the season and stuck in mid-table....

Job done, I'll settle for this, not sure if the board will though...

So that's that....not the worse outcome....one game to go....just the small matter of the Champions League Final....then it's up to the board if they want me or not....4 seasons done...maybe it's time to move on anyway....

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
FINAL
25th MAY 2011

v

Oriel Park, Dundalk

(yeah, I know, as if this would host the final!!)

The nerves build up, when you've got this far you really believe you can win it....do we deserve it? sure...beating Inter, Valencia and Chelsea on the way is no easy path...we can do it...I know we can....

We did it....Torres does the business and we bring the trophy back home....

My contract is up in 2 weeks....4 seasons, 1 league title, 2 League Cups & 1 Champions League...will it be enough?

excellent stuff mate, i'm still loving it, looks like its been a difficult season for you...and one thing that surprised me a lot is that Newcastle were in the top 3 at one point...why can't we play like that normally? -_-
