 From mid table to promotion challengers.
My career in football had started at Ipswich Town F.C.
The fans hated me to start but i soon won them over with some great performances and floating around the top 4 all season.
I started my career spending alot of cash my signings were: Fuller (3.6m), Matt Holland (1m, Ipswich Legend), Danny Shittu (4m), Stephen Caldwell (1.1m), Luke Steele 600k), Daryl Muphy (loan), Jem Karacan (loan) and Scott Golbourne (loan)
My season started with games against the three recently relgated teams, Charlton, Sheff United and Watford. I didn't do to bad with 2-1 loss to Charlton, 2-1 win over Watford and 1-0 over Sheffield United. I floated around mid table until December, i beat Hereford, West Brom then got knocked out of League Cup by Q.P.R. The FA cup rund didn't last long i knocked out Plymouth after coming back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 then to smash them at home 3-0, i played a strong team that time round. Then to be knocked out to Scunthorpe after a very poor performance by my team. After the defeat to Scunny i went 5 games without a win and morale dropped badly, but my team picked it up and i was back in the top 2 again.
In January i didn't make many signings but i did buy: Bodgan Stancu (900k) and Daniel Aquino (3m).
I sold David Norris (2m), Tommy Miller (100k), Alan Lee (110k) and a few others.
It come down to the wire i had secured auto promo by 2 games before the end of the season but i could still challenge for the Coca-Cola Championship. 2 games to go i was winning 2-1 at Burnley and Watford were loseing 4-0 to Bristol City, if i won i would be 1 points clear of top but i slipped up on the 80th min and drew the game 2-2, i was now 1 point behind. Watford won the league on the last day of the season against Sheff United. Me drawing to Bristol City didnt make me feel better we could have finished the league with a win, but i had gone 15 games unbeaten and turned a mid table team to get promotion now to bad. My top goalscorer was Pablo Counago with 40 goals from 45 (1) games, Gary Roberts got 14 assists, Shittu was my best signing, and Garvan was imo my best player.
I come third in manager of the year behind Adrian Bothroyd and Tony Mowbray. How i didn't come first or second i don't no? I was just a rookie after all?
Premiership here i come!
