I don’t think we would’ve done this bad if we had some our first team players, who were out from either suspension or injuries. EASTLEIGH 4-2 (AET) Braintree Town ---> Setanta Shield 3rd Round Eastleigh wins in extra time to sent them to the 4th round in the Setanta Shield. Eastleigh had to come back from behind to draw 2-2 before Ian Cousins got sent off in the 98th minute, leaving Braintree with 10men. Jamie Brown of Eastleigh scored 2 goals before Larkin from Eastleigh gets sent off . EASTLEIGH 4-0 Eastbourne Borough 4 players scored for Eastleigh as they cruise through this victory. EASTLEIGH 1-1 Thurrock Relegation threatened Thurrock proved to be a difficult opponent as they held Eastleigh to a 1-1 draw. York 1-2 EASTLEIGH ---> FA Trophy 1st Round Eastleigh scored 2 goals in the last 3 minutes to cause an upset as they dumped Blue Square Premier side York out. Patric Ntola Mkhawana comes on a sub for his debut. Braintree Town 1-1 EASTLEIGH Mkhawana scored a late equaliser to spare Eastleigh’s pride as they draw. Aldershot Town 3-0 EASTLEIGH ---> Setanta Shield 4th Round Eastleigh goes out in the last 32 as Aldershot, who are currently 5th in BSP wins with ease.. EASTLEIGH 4-1 Hayes& Yeading Eastleigh yet again scores 4 goals at home to give Eastleigh 3 points. EASTLEIGH 4-1 Newport County Andy Morrow puts on a superb performance that led to the media dubbing him “Marvellous” Morrow. 7 of the 11 players from Eastleigh got a rating 8 or over. Manager Views: I’m pretty happy with the performance of the team this month. Mkhawana is settling well having scored 3 goals already! The teams home record is amazing, having scored more then 4 goals in 10 home games! The attendance is going up to around 900+ every home game which I am pleased. We’re out of two trophies in two months and we are still in the FA Trophy. I’m pleased to say that the finance is now going up, which is something I never predicted. PS: Manager Of The Month: Me (4 time out of 5 this year. Contender for Manager of the year?) Also I will be busy for the last few weeks so I might not update until 2 weeks later. Ryan Brown (GK) Sean Adams (SW/DC) Conor Larkin (DC) Stephen Payne (RB) Jamie Brown (AM/FC) Andy Morrow (FC) Jason St'Juste is attracting loads of attention to other clubs and Jamie Brown is too. I hope I can keep them, they've been the life and soul of my team with the most assist and goals... Transfer News: Eastleigh has appointed 43 year old Gerry McGeough as assistant manager as I find David Hughes stats appalling for a assistant manager. I’m trying to sign Jerry Gamedze, who’s a defender. He has 12 caps for Namibia and he's 15 at the moment. The work permit application failed but I'll probably try again later. I’m also interested in Sebastian Wallis Taylor (LB) from Bognor Regis, Phil Turnbull (CM) and Aaron Baker (FC). Alfredo Padilla (FC) is also on my shortlist but it seems unlikely I can get him since his value is going up fast. YouTube - Football Manager 08 Wonder Goal Sorry about quality but you should be able to see the ball. Just out of interest... Scouting Eastleigh: Eastleigh plays a defensive 4-4-2 formation and often looks to draw the opposition onto them before attempting to counter attack. Henian Su likes his team to play possession football and Eastleigh will look to get the ball down and play it. They benefit from a strong and organized defense and could prove difficult to break down. Their forwards are strong and quick and will need to be marked tightly. Central midfielder Patric Ntola Mkhawana will need to be watched carefully as he has the ability to be a match winner. Interesting.... Laidler scores in the last few minute to give Basingstoke 3 points. Weston Super Mare 0-1 EASTLEIGH Conor Larkin scores his first goal this year with a header from a corner kick that means they drop to 19th place. . EASTLEIGH 7-0 Sutton United Despite having equal amount of possession, we completely killed Sutton, who are bottom of the table. We were 4-0 up in the last 10 minutes of half time and we added another three to our total. Exeter 3-2 EASTLEIGH ---> FA Trophy 2nd Round Eastleigh proved they weren’t pushovers nor a team that would give up so easily. Exeter had to come back down twice before they scored in the 88th minute. Bath 2-3 EASTLEIGH Despite going 2-0 up away, Bath decided to catch up and make it 2-2. Sean Adams then scored the winner for Eastleigh from outside the box. EASTLEIGH 6-1 Bishop’s Stortford We had less possession but once again we scored more then 4 goals at home (Morrow, Brady, Larkin and Mkhawana scores) Hampton & Richmond 2-2 EASTLEIGH We had to come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. Not the best game and we were terrible in the first half. Our average attendance is now 1063, which was better considering we started off with attendance around 500 (Silverlake Stadium holds 2300) Jason St’Juste (Left Winger) has just signed a new contract, which is full time. The young winger has 27 assist this season for Eastleigh. We had a decent month, collecting 13 points from a possible 15. Currently Stands: 1) Eastleigh P31 W23 D6 L2 GD:59 Points:75 ------------------------------------------------------- 2) Lewes P31 W15 D9 L7 GD:19 Points:54 We’re in a 21 point lead at the moment so if we could continue this, we could win the League in 4 more games potentially. Mkhawana also performed well scoring his 6th goal since coming to the Silverlake in December. Cambridge City 4-4 EASTLEIGH An interesting match for a change! We were 2-0 down in the first half, and then our target man Jamie Brown scored 2 goals to make it 2-2. Liam Page made it 3-2 to Cambridge before Larkin scored a header from another corner kick to make it 3-3. We were then losing 4-3 before Jamie Brown completed his hat trick with a stunning shot that gave us a point. EASTLEIGH 4-1 Bromley Substitute Mark Sirengo scored two goals in the match that gave Eastleigh a comfortable win. Bromley scored in the last minute to deny Ryan Brown a clean sheet. In fairness, Brown hasn’t got much clean sheets this season, although he has conceded the least (47 in 39 games and only 9 clean sheets) EASTLEIGH 2-0 Dorchester It was a dull game, with Andy Brady netting a penalty and Jamie Garry to finish it off. 10 points from 12 for this month. 6 more points and Eastleigh will be champions. I will change format of this next season just to make it livelier! Welling 2-1 EASTLEIGH Dennis Fenemore scored his first goal for Eastleigh to open the scoring but the leagues top goal scorer Omari Coleman scored two goals that gave Welling the surprising win and denies Eastleigh to take the league title earlier. Fisher Athletic 0-2 EASTLEIGH Eastleigh scores two goal (Tommy English penalty and a Matt Hann strike) in the second half in what was a boring game. Andy Harris gets injured in the 90th minute which means he will miss next weeks crucial match against Lewes. EASTLEIGH1-0 Lewes The important match to see if Eastleigh will win the title. We were surprisingly outplayed by Lewes in every aspects of the game, whether its possession or shots. Our super sub Mark Sirengo scored in the 90+4 minutes of the game that means Eastleigh is guaranteed promotion to Blue Square Premier and gives them the title! We won the league by a surprising 23 points! Thurrock 1-2 EASTLEIGH We were 1-0 down at the 71st minute. Eastleigh looked for a more attacking approach to try and keep them in the game. It worked when the hero who scored against Lewes, Mark Sirengo scored to keep Eastleigh in the game. Phil Anderson then scored an own goal from a corner kick late on to give Eastleigh a win. EASTLEIGH1-1 St Albans What should’ve been as easy game wasn’t an easy game. St Albans scored first but Andy Morrow scored an equaliser. Johnny Nixon was sent off late on, which didn’t help at all, and Eastleigh held on. EASTLEIGH2-1 Havant and Waterlooville The Spitfires rivals paid the price for missing a penalty early on. Havant were rewarded a penalty for a foul from Mkhawana. Charlie Henry however sent it wide. Slabber then scores for Havant but Mark Sirengo and Jamie Brown scored two late goals to give them a win, despite Havant having more possession. Mark Sirengo was injured in the match from a strong challenge. EASTLEIGH1-1 Bognor Regis Eastleigh was denied a clear penalty as Bognor held on. Sean Adams scores a header for Eastleigh before Dixon scores the equalizer. Spitfires boss Henian Su was furious that a penalty wasn’t given. The FA was silent over the issue and no action will be taken. The replay showed that a spot kick should’ve been awarded and there’s no doubt that Su will be unhappy with the decision. Sutton United 1-3 EASTLEIGH It was an easy game against a relegation threatened Sutton, who remains in last place after losing and 3points from safety with two games left to go. Eastbourne Borough 2-2 EASTLEIGH It wasn’t much but this game has denied us the chance to grab 100 points this season. EASTLEIGH2-1 Braintree Town An attendance of 1648 came to watch us that day and it was amazing. Jamie Brown was man of the match; he was a constant threat to Braintree. A great win to us as we say farewell to Blue Square South. Eastleigh has beaten the odds. Henian Su says things are looking good and hopes the form carries on in a higher division. Eastleigh fans are in a jubilant mood after Henian Su has led them to the incredible feat of winning Blue Square South. A fans spokesman announced Henian Su was undoubtedly one of the best managers around. Eastleigh board has issued a statement declaring they are very happy with the victory and is grateful to Henian Su for doing them proud. They stated their surprise at this achievement and wished to thank Su for this unexpected success. At a short press conference, a spokesperson for the board declared that promotion hasn’t been on the card at the start of the season and the board wanted to put on record their gratitude to Henian Su for delivering the unthinkable. I said to the media (rather pessimistically) that next season will be long challenging and perhaps ultimately fruitless one for Eastleigh. Most players responded back rather positively, like being determined that they will be able to stay up. Easy to follow. I like it. Seems as if you're doing a very good job with eastleigh. You ran away with the division, so I'll be interested to see how your team cope at a higher level. I don't think you'll need to bring in too many signings. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Alan_R For This Useful Post: | | 23-05-08, 09:50 PM | #33 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Soton Posts: 346 Thanks: 37 Thanked 143 Times in 65 Posts | Season 2 Affiliates Parent Club – Southampton (Coca Cola Championship) Feeder Club – AFC Totton (Non League) Promotion Odds Oxford has been made 6-4 favourites to win promotion from Blue Square Premier this season. Others contenders include; 7-4 - Grays, Stevenage, York, Aldershot and 5-2 - Cambridge. With the bookmarkers believing promotion for your team to be unlikely, the price of 40-1 seems to point the fact that your team should concern with avoiding relegation. Season Tickets 50 Season tickets were sold last season. This season sees 130 tickets sold, much more encouraging compared to last season. Start Of Season Expectations I have told my board my Start of season expectations is mid table and I have been given £0 for transfer funds and wage budget of 12.25k. However I have adjusted the budget, so Ill have 11.45k on wage and 40k on transfer. I’m currently using 7.86k on wage. Other News Eastleigh has announced a new kit sponsor. The 2 year sponsorship is estimated to be worth 30k per annum. Eastleigh will receive 85k for Blue Square Premier TV Rights over the forthcoming season. I have told my grounds man what pitch size I want this season, which is a short sided pitch (100m x 71m) this season. Transfers In (DRC) Jamie Stevens - £0 + Clause (SW,DC) Vagner Leonardelli 55k (SW,DC) Ryan Townsend – Free (AML) Luke Holden – Free (MC) Shane Clarke - Free (DM) Tiago – 10k (AM RC) Geovanni – 8.25k This season sees 3 new defenders and 4 midfielders as I look to improve my midfield and most importantly my defence. Jamie Stevens is a hot prospect for us and I will see him as my main substitute for right back or centre back. Leonardelli is a great find and good enough for the Coca Cola Championships. Townsend will be a good back up and Geovanni replaces Mark Graham with Tiago replacing Andy Harris. Shaun Clarke and Holden will be backups. I’m pretty happy with the results of the friendlies this season, since I wasn’t expecting any wins. All the games were played at home for financial reasons but we did superb in every friendly, except against Saints and Bristol of course. To win against League 2 teams and score 3 goals past a team that are in the SPL shows that we can compete in this league and I certainly hope we will. Doesn’t the friendly against Dunfermiline gives a hint on how good Scottish footie is? Blue Square South V SPL? TRANSFER NEWS: Abou Diaby has been sold to AC Milan for, in my opinion, a ridiculous fee of 34.5mil. He has only played 12 games and grabbed 6 assist.
