Hey all,
I chose a little while ago to play a game as York City, one of the stronger teams in the Blue Square Premier division. And because of some rampant success, I'm going to post updates at the end of each season and will post anything you request if i can get my hands on it.
I have already played 2 seasons, and they went as follows.
2007-2008 Basics Start of season expectations: 3rd
Value of club: around 300k
Balance: 19.6k
Goals My goals for the season
-Win Promotion
-Get one round further than expected by my board in all cups
-Raise balance with friendlies
Blue Square Premier Final Position: 1st
League Table
Commentary: This was a great year for my team, even though we couldn't focus our attack around one player and had some defensive slip-ups, we were able to come together as a team and get the crucial wins when they mattered. Oxford made a late run for the title but we were able to hold them off. The key to this was a fabulous run we had ourselves where we won 7 out of our last 9 games, and the other two were draws and the only games we conceded out of the nine (fixtures can be seen below). That was crucial, so, here comes League 2.
Cup Competitions FA Cup Exited: 2nd Round (1 above board expectation)
FA Trophy Exited: 2nd Round (3 below board expectation)
Setanta Shield Exited: 4th Round (2 below board expectation)
Commentary: As you can probably tell, I am the opposite to Jaunde Ramos, cup master. I tend to fail miserably in English cup competitions as is seen here. The FA Trophy and FA Cup knockouts were in replay rounds, when I could not close the deal in the first round, which I should have done on both occasions. Frustrating, but too happy with the league win to care.

League Table
Commentary: <_<, no I did not. That did not just happen. This was my response when I ended my season in third place, the last secure promotion spot which doesn't require a playoff. It took a lot of luck, it took a lot of crazy substitutions, and most of all, it took Billy Sharp. This kid scored so many goals AND missed 2 months with a broken arm. But he was not to be stopped. My only question is why he came to the league 2. It does not matter, him coupled with some other signings were able to create many goals throughout the year, though my young defensive star David Ogilby couldn't handle the defense all on his own and many goals were let in the back of our net. But, we ended up third, and the saying "offense sells tickets, defense wins games" should instead read "Billy Sharp sells tickets and wins games."
Cup Competitions Carling Cup Exited: 1st Round (board expectation)
Johnstone's Paint Trophy Exited: North Quarter Final (3 above board expectation)
FA Cup Exited: 3rd Round (1 above board expectation)
Commentary: This year the cup tale was quite a different one with some success in the cups, I was only disappointed that I did not progress in the Carling Cup, i felt I could have won that first round match against Blackpool. 2 penalties later, I lost that game. O well, life is life. But overall quite good, with the charge being led by the high scoring Billy Sharp.
End of Season Statistics: Top Goalscorer: Billy Sharp - 55
Assist Leader: Martyn Woolford - 15
Best Statistical Player: Billy Sharp -7.92 (but he was a loan so it was really my winger, but, no need to change it)
Manager's Player of the Season: Billy Sharp (He scored so many goals in so many clutch situations)
Largest Incoming Transfer: Robert Bayly (16k)
Balance: 1.77m
Various Awards: Led League in Goals - Billy Sharp 48
Led League in Rating - Billy Sharp 8.00
Manager of the Month - 1 time
