I've never completed a season on FM08, despite it being April already and the season is pretty much finished (like a month and a half to go) but yeah, I'm Catalan outfit Barcelona.
I thought - easy job, I should wrap it all up by March. Well I couldn't possibly any more wrong.
The league was fine and dandy until I started conceding random goals because of my offensive tactic turning against me. Valencia ended up running away with it, like 17pts clear and I was 3pts behind Real Madrid.
Spanish cup wasn't exactly the best either. Breezed into the 5th round when I was drawn against Sevilla, who clearly destroyed me over the 2 legs.
Champions League was a completely different story though! Group stage was easy, beating Marseille 4-1 away and 2-1 at home, Werder Bremen 4-1 at home and losing 2-0 away and beating PSV 2-1 at home and drawing 2-2 away - That was me top of the group with 13 pts, scoing 14 and conceding 8. Last 16 got me Besiktas - 2-1 in Turkey and 1-0 at home, safely in the Quarters, where I was drawn the enemy - Real Madrid! Drawing 1-1 at home wasn't the best of starts but I got a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu putting me threw on away goals. Semi's was unbelievable! 5-0 up at home at half-time to Werder Bremen. Didn't score in the second half but in Bremen we were in the game of the season, winning 6-4 (showing how bad my defence is again). The final was Inter Milan, who were favourites to win. But Ronaldinho grabbed a hat-trick to beat them 3-0, meaning I had got my first piece of silverware and there is none bigger, really!
I'm looking forward to next season - My signings in 07/08 were Rafael van der Vaart, Mateja Kezman, Henri Saivet, Bogdan Stancu, Gabriel Torje and Toto Tamuz, costing me in total £24.5m - where I was originally given £9m which rose to £40m by December. Hopefully I'll have a crapload to spend this summer, as I'm at the end of June.
