In the 2nd season we were hoping for easily avoiding relegation and a acheiving a safe mid table position (and perhaps in the back of my mind hoping for a playoff position). So,the end of the year found us...champions of the BSP.We won the division by about 10 points and were the best team together with Oxford. But our 22 matches in a row unbeaten record didn't give them a chance. However, in the first 2 years we didn't win any of the cups. Not even came to a final...but who cares? We're in the L2!!! i will later upload some screenies of the first 2 years and post an update of the 3rd year so far Last edited by Akenatwn; 28-03-08 at 11:42 PM. | Toumba...Don't you just love it? Got them promoted with the team they had by winning BSN and also in same season won the setanta cup. And so to the BSP In second season ended up in play offs and beating Aldershot on pens to gain promotion and so to L2 In L2 managed to gain promotion again behind Yevoil Town. I am now currently in L1(2010) in 8th position with half the season gone so may end up in play off place......Here's hoping. Trick I have found is to get free transfers from the championship and premier sides when they release they young players from the reserves or youth teams at the end of a season. A must to sign is Jamie Derbyshire (AMRC)Youth player of Man Utd... They released him when I got promoted into L2. He has been a great signing. | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Ianh34 For This Useful Post: | | 29-03-08, 12:01 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 132 Thanks: 18 Thanked 24 Times in 24 Posts | way to go ianh34!nice work! signing players on the end of their contracts has worked for me too.you can get top players for nothing!I haven't actually spent a penny for a player thus far.all my signings were for free 1st season transfers: 1st season final standings: 2nd season transfers: 2nd season final standings: | Toumba...Don't you just love it? With 24 teams in a lower division, it's crowded enough as it is. Play cup games with your first eleven and you'll find yourself playing once every 3-4 days which is very tough for any team, no matter how well-prepared phisically they are. Myself, I only tackle the cups when I feel I've assembled a good, homogenic team and the reserves can fully compensate for the first team players. If you manage to reach later stages in all competitions you're in, the number of games will reach about 60/ season, which is A LOT. Focus on getting promoted, slowly building up the team and in few seasons, you'll be able to challenge for the cups as well, without over-soliciting your players. just my 2 cents :) | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to ionutd For This Useful Post: | | 30-03-08, 11:59 AM | #6 (permalink) | | What Bozza can do with an orange, I can do with a grape! The board are expecting us to fight against relegation, but I say to them that we'll avoid relegation. The transfer budget is once again 0.So,signing players that have treir contracts expiring seems the only option. 3rd season summer transfers: So,we've brought players for almost all positions. The pre-seaon was okay,as we won 2 from 7 matches (against 2 L2,3 L1,1 PRM and 1 non-division team),but we played well in most of them. Not to forget that we had 7-8 new first team players. And now we come to the start of a very tough season.Fortunately, the board doesn't expect us to achive anything in the cups. My expectation is to stay clear of relegation and perhaps come close to the middle of the table. | Toumba...Don't you just love it? So,the season starts: AUGUST Kettering 0-1 MORECAMBE Awful game for both teams.Only 7 shots made, one of them giving Morecambe the 3 points.Nothing else to remember. No the start we were planning. Kettering 0-4 SOUTHAMPTON(CH) League Cup 1st Round Well what to say...It was like we weren't there.Southampton controlled the game from 0 to 90th minute. They had 23 shots, we had 3.Nothing to remember from this match. KETTERING 3-1 Exeter At last! Our 1st win in professional football. And truly deserved. We scored 2 in the first 35 mins and it stayed so till half time. They scord on a counter attack in the 52nd min,but we immediately replied. We stayed in control over the rest of the game and got the 3 points. Peterborough 1-4 KETTERING 2nd win in arow!Well,we were better throughout the game, but no by so much as the score shows. It started baalnced but we scored first and that gave us the mentality to make it 0-3 by half time. The second half was more or less the same.We quickly made it 0-4 and in 51st minute they scored one.And that's all.3 points for us! PORT VALE 4-1 Kettering No way to explain this. They weren't better. The game was much balanced. But they scored early,we kept missing chances and they scored again to make 2-0 at half-time.Second half the same story. We miss chances, they score. So it's 4-0 before we score 10 mins to full time.Nothing to remember, moving on. SEPTEMBER Kettering 2-3 NOTTS CO This was some match! They started with all the luck on their side and before we realise it they were leading by 3 goals (27th min). But we pulled ourselves together and we got 2 goals back before half time. And that was it.The 2nd half was just some missed chances, most coming from Notts Co.They were better, deserving their win. Stevenage 0-3 KETTERING A very much deserved win.We were much better throughout the entire game.We score 2 in the first minutes, kept control of the game, created many chances and scored one in the 2nd half to put the game beyond doubt. KETTERING 2-0 Hereford That was a lucky win...Playing with one of the worst team in the league so far,we were going for an easy game. But it was far from that.Luckily for us we scored an early goal and another one just before half time in the few chances we created. The whole match was dominated by Hereford, but they just couldn't score thanks to our luck and our GK. KETTERING 3-1 Accrington Simple thing:we were better,we won. They had 9 shots only 1 on target,we had 12 with 5 on target. After all 4 goals were scored by our players. CHESTER 2-1 Kettering It was a balanced game.We conceded a very quick own goal, then both teams had plenty of chances, but couldn't score until the 70th min whn they made it 2-0.After about 10 mins we got one back, but that was it.Defeat. So after September we find ourselves at 9th place with 5 wins and 4 defeats. Not bad. The league standings: Our players so far: The most noticable thing however is that the team which scores first always wins at the end and also by not losing the lead at the score... So now,by looking at the league so far I think that we can even hope for a playoff spot...But who knows... | Toumba...Don't you just love it? OCTOBER KETTERING 2-1 Macclesfield A good performance but a very tough match.Kandol gave us the lead before they equalized just after 20mins.A late goal by Woolford gave us the win. Kettering 0-3 STEVENAGE JPT S Quarter Final All started well, but 3 goals within 5 mins before half time gave Stevenage the win.We pressed but could change naught.Awful match KETTERING 2-0 Cheltenham A nice performance. We controlled the match and created a number of chances.A first half goal by Candol and a late goal by Carlton sealed the win.We could have lost the match as we got a player sent off a quarter to full time, but luck was on our side Kettering 0-1 MACCLESFIELD FA Cup 1st Round Awful match.Only 6 shots overall. One of them gave Macclesfield the win... Lincoln 1-1 Kettering Not a good performance. They cotrolled most of the match, got ahead but a second half goal by Woolford gave us the point. DECEMBER Doncaster 0-1 KETTERING Tough match.Doncaster were 1st in L2 before the match (and after it),so we were going as underdogs. But the match itself was even (and of poor quality) and a goal 10 mins before full time by Candol won it for us. KETTERING 3-0 Wrexham The match was more even than the score indicates. Both teams created many chances, but thanfully our GK was simply brilliant.Partridge,Kandol and Carlton scored for us. Rushden 0-3 KETTERING That was a match!!!Our arch rivals were simply better, but only at creating. They left their finishing at home. So, two goals by Kandol with an own goal between them gave us a "clear" win. MK Dons 0-1 KETTERING We got ahead with Partridge and they got a player sent off before half time.Despite that they pushed on for something better.Luckily nothing got past our, once again, brilliant GK.Even game overall. KETTERING 1-0 Crewe A deserved win.We were better throughout the entire game and with a 10th min direct FK from Partridge we got the 3 points. So,we've finished the first half of the season. The bookies hit their heads against the wall as we find ourselves at 1st place!!!If we continue like this the 3rd promotion in a row will be ours. And why not even the 3rd straight championship...But these are ifs... The Standings: Good games by our ST's,but even better ones by our two wide men,Woolford and Partridge. Our players so far: And here are the tactics i use: Normal: Defensive for tough matches: The only problem so far is that we get too many yellow cards,so we face suspensions too often. We already have 2 players with 10 YCs in the League! So,in the next transfer window we need to add depth to the squad. And as we lack STs and MCs,that's what we're going to search for. We're talking loan of course as there are no transfer funds. Let's see what's to happen... Last edited by Akenatwn; 06-04-08 at 12:54 AM. | Toumba...Don't you just love it? December (the rest of it): EXETER 2-0 Kettering Awful performance. They had won it by half-time. Kettering 1-1 Port Vale Not a good performance.Kandol stole the point from a better Port Vale with a goal 5 mins before the end to tie their first half goal. not to forget,we got Ramsey (MC-don't remember from who) on loan.not something special, just a backup player. January: KETTERING 1-0 Peterborough An even game.A Carlton goal before half time made the difference Morecambe 1-2 KETTERING Three points thanks to Westcarr (a reserves player) who gave us the lead twice in the 2nd half. Notts Co 1-1 Kettering Bad performance, but once again Kandol stole a point for our side just one min before full-time. KETTERING 1-0 Stevenage And once more we grab points in the last mins. This time with Carlton in the injury time.At least this time we deserved them... Hereford 1-2 KETTERING We played with the last by far team of the league. But we had to make it hard...The game was balanced. They got ahead but we managed to turn it around by goals from Carlton and Chanot. February: Kettering 1-1 Bradford Ok,they were better but at least they should've won this point honestly.Kandol got us the lead before HT.And then on 68th min they got a penalty and scored.Ok can't say anything about the penalty itself, but before that the attacker was blatantly offside as the ball was played to him.Awful desicion... Accrington 0-3 KETTERING Woolford,Kandol and Parridge got us an easy and deserved victory. KETTERING 2-0 Shrewsbury Another easy and very much deserved victory.Goals by Kandol and Carlton. Kettering 1-2 Chester Another Chester nightmare. We got an early lead with Kandol and everything looked good, until they managed to get shots on target...and as our GK was virtually in field, they turned it around.fair play to them another transfer:we signed Fred Sears (ST) on free.decent player.just for back-up. Crewe 0-1 KETTERING And once again we win it in the last mins. This time it is Sears, our new signing, on his debut!!! Bury 0-1 KETTERING Good performance. We were better and got the 3points thanks to Carlton with his 2nd half goal. March: KETTERING 5-1 Brentford That was hell of a match! They made the mistake to take the lead and paid for it.Instantly turned it around and just kept scoring.Scorers:Kandol,Woolford,Carlton(2) and Sears. CHESTERFIELD 3-1 Kettering We got the lead with Carlton, but stayed there. They controlled the game and got the points.Fair play to Chesterfield. Cheltenham 0-0 Kettering Not a bad performance but the ball simply didn't want to go in... KETTERING 3-0 MK Dons We were extremely better, but their remaining with 10 players in the 1st half had surely something to do with it...Two goals from Kandol and one from Woolford sealed the deal for us. KETTERING 4-1 Darlington Darlington got a beating again... Once again they were better and once again they conceded 4 goals.Hat-trick from Carlton and one from Kandol surely made us their bogey team . so with only 5 games remaining we 're just 5 points away from securing an incredible promotion.ok,i'm sure we'll clinch it,but what i really want is the championship to make the ultimate surprise...it's gonna be a close one. Standings: our ST's surely are on fire and the wing men too give tons of assists.let's hope they'll keep in form... The Players: | Toumba...Don't you just love it?
