Default 11 Seasons Summaried (+ new seasons)

Haven't been on here for a while but got nice and far with my FM08 game. I'll try and summarise every season so far for you.

07/08
Chris Bird named MK Dons manager.
Finished 7th in the league and lost in the playoff semi finals. Poor season really. We had the best defence in the league but drew too many as we failed to score plenty having the 6th worst attack in the league.

08/09
Won League 2 :D
Bird puts it down to a much improved strikeforce with Bryan Prunty netting 23 and McGurk (on loan) nabbing 19.
Andersen was on loan in goal and looked a good prospect for the future.

09/10
First season in League 1.
Andersen comes on loan for another year and agrees to join permanently for the next season (10/11).
We had a terrible start to the season and didnt win any of our first 11 games. However, I somehow turned it around and finished 16th. Phew.

10/11
Andersen becomes a totally new player as he begins his full time reign in goal for MK and brings out some top performances.
New signing Mitchell Drooduin is amazing. He scores goals for fun. 30 goals for him. However, somehow... and I don't know how. Knight scores 38!
All of this on the way to winning the League 1 title :D

11/12
First time in the Championship and despite Knight's goalfest last season, Bird signs Eastwood on a free and partners him with Drooduin.
They score for fun and nab 29 and 25 goals respectively.
Poldervaart in his new role behind the strikers also scores for fun and bags 20.
Despite all these goals we finish 15th. Reason... we conceded 100 goals. Very poor defensively.

12/13
Drooduin and Eastwood fire more goals scoring 29 and 33 respectively. Bird also improves his defence drastically with signings of Besta, Dosoudil and Francis.
It works and we finish 5th... losing in playoff semi finals to QPR. I hate playoffs lol.

13/14
Andersen leaves on a free transfer to Coventry, just shy of breaking the appearance record for MK. Scott Fox brought in to replace him.
There is honestly no stopping Drooduin. He scores 38 goals with Eastwood losing his touch with a meer 20 lol.
Bird tweaks his defence with the signing of LB Sadler and Gijsen in the centre. It works better than last season, and we finish 3rd scoring 93 points. Any other season and we could have won the league but with Villa and West Ham with fully Premiership quality sides, we didn't stand a chance as they score 110 and 109 points.
We get to the playoff final.... versus Andersen's new club Coventry. We lose.

14/15
MK struggled in the league to gain form and were just hovering outside of the playoffs all season. Bird was getting itchy feet and quit in February after heavy loss to QPR.

15/16
Cowdenbeath name Chris Bird as new boss in Scottish Division 2.
I begin to wonder why I took this club over. We really struggle with a great signing of Jamie Kitson, Cowdenbeath somehow manage to avoid relegation and finish 7th. The board not too happy.

16/17
A new season and quite a few new players. We perform miles better and are in the playoffs for majority of the season... until our form slips and we somehow miss the playoffs and finish 5th.
Kitson is becoming an amazing player and scores 32.

17/18
Bird gets his and Cowdenbeath's first taste of success for years. They become the giant killers of the League Challenge Cup knocking out Dundee, Stirling and Motherwell of Division 1 (1st, 2nd and 5th). We get to the final against our fierce rivals East Fife... where we won on penalties :D
The league however provided in my opinion the most dramatic chase ever. Livingston (yes Livingston in Div 2) and Cowdenbeath by far the two best teams in the league and at one point Livi held an 18pt advantage. However a fantastic run of 12 wins on the bounce, and ended 15 unbeaten drew the gap much closer. Cowdenbeath then took the lead and looked set to win it with a game to go. But a dramatic late goal cost us the win taking the gap to 1pt with a game to go.

Livingston vs Alloa (10th)
Cowdenbeath vs Raith (4th)

We took the lead and all was great.... Alloa took a shock lead. Even better!!
But then both Raith and Livi equalised. We would still win the league though.
Then Livi took the lead... we were going to lose the title.
90 minutes were up and just injury time left... we needed a goal. Step up supersub Cook as he bags TWO in injury time to steal the title and promotion from under Livi's noses
WOOO :D lol
Kitson again scores for fun and gets 26 with new signing Louis getting 25.

18/19
And so now we're in the First Division after 3 games with 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss. I could have really gone anywhere in the summer with me linked as favourite to a lot of jobs including Rangers, Man Utd and even Chelsea.
I stuck by Cowdenbeath and the aim is to get to the SPL... maybe lol.

He was amazing. I wished I could have kept him longer.

I'll try and post some screenshots of random stuff sometime.

So far in my career, I seem to have a great bond with my strikers. Both Drooduin and Kitson love me and they just bang goals in for fun.

I'm so tempted to go into international management but I just would love to get Cowdenbeath with their tiny stadium into the SPL or Europe lol

Wow. Just wow.

So 18 games into the season (played everyone twice) and we're 4th and have been as high as 3rd. Dundee Utd running away with the league.

We crashed out the Challenge Cup on penalties to Motherwell so we won't retain that.

We're through to Scottish Cup 4th round vs Eyemouth.

And this just happened. Revenge on Motherwell.
4-1 down with 17 minutes to go... bring on the subs. BANG! Lol

Thanks for all the support :)

leachy - Yeah I think I may end up doing that unless Cowdenbeath start to get stale

Anyway, here's the next update.

We beat Eyemouth 3-0 to face Dunfermline in 5th round.... *cough* 1-8 *cough*

Back to the league lol.
We struggled for consistent form and then when we hit consistency, it was 3 losses on the bounce.
However, we managed to pick ourselves back up and get some points... then this result.

Records broken with Kitson breaking our most assists, and Walker breaking most goals in a season and a game.
Cowdenbeath then had a marvellous comeback again vs Clyde. Three goals down and we drew 3-3.

So now I have five games to go and lay in 6th. Not going up and not going down. So in summary, I'm happy. But I'd rather finish in top 5.

After the Eyemouth victory

Also, I've had to publicly deny Preston and Bolton who are struggling near the bottom of the Championship.

Was really tempted to go back to Preston where I'd had an amazing time in FM07... but then I saw they're bankrupt and lost 10 points. Maybe not lol.

Season 18/19 completed.
We finished 6th in the end. A very good result in my books.

The summer target is to bring in a few new players but not too many. Also some new staff roles with a new assistant manager, and try and get and get as many people on full time contracts.

Sure. Wolves just got relegated to League 2 along with Middlesbrough.

Also Oxford are back in League 1. That takes me back some years when Oxford weren't really bad. Accrington and Aldershot are also in L1, with recently relegated Sheff Utd and Preston (who enjoyed a spell in Prem a few years back)

Jonathan Woodgate has just got AFC Wimbledon into League 2. Weymouth also join them.

Premiership clubs in the Championship include Villa, Everton, Reading, Wigan, Newcastle and Bolton.

COWDENBEATH NEWS
Bird today announced the arrival of Matt Oakley as his assistant manager. I've also managed to get quite a lot of the playing staff full time... sadly most the coaching staff won't.

EDIT- Just noticed Forest (twice Prem champs are moving to a new stadium, Fanteni Stadium, named after one of their favoured personnel)

Quick summary of players in for this season that effect the starting lineup.
Strain is back on loan at right back.
Soutar joins on loan to start in left mid.
Field joins as backup striker to Kitson and Walker.
Hutchinson joins to partner McLoughlin in defence.

And somehow, that has made the world of difference.
4-0 Motherwell - Kitson 2, Johnson, Walker
6-0 East Fife (League Cup) - Soutar, Molloy, Kitson, Walker 2, Wood
4-1 Clyde - Walker 2, Field 2

Kitson takes a nasty tumble during the Clyde game and has damaged his hip... 2-4 months out and has been to see a specialist. Disaster!!! Field will take his place in the mean time but I doubt he has the influence and creativity Capt Kitson had. Time to look for a loanee striker.

The missing figure of Kitson is evident in game vs East Fife (this time in Challenge Cup)
0-0 at full time, and it takes a 122nd minute goal from Louis to steal the win in extra time after Chapman had saved a penalty from East Fife. Keeperb! :D

1-0 Dundee - Walker

A great victory against the recently relegated side but definetly feeling absense of a Kitson.
3 league games. 3 wins. 9 goals.

SPL anyone?

Thanks everyone. Nah not my first game on FM2008, did a couple of years with Cheltenham before first patch came out. Then me and my friend decided to start at same club and see who did better (he did.. just) and it was amazing how we both managed to sign the same players (not all of them of course).

I just have too much time on my hand... when I should be doing coursework lol. I get both done though really well so can't complain. Got to balance gaming fun with design coursework :)
