He has been nothing short of amazing. However, talk about injury crisis. With Kitson and Cook already being in the physio room. Nixon joins them with thigh strain. Molloy breaks his arm. Field strains his wrist. Walker unfit after a small injury. Gilmartin (sub keeper) damages his heel. Devaux (non starting centre back) strains his ankle ligaments. Which leaves me with just 7 of my usual starting XI for game against Stirling and not having much confidence in my strikers. 4-2 Stirling - Eckersley 3, Louis Did I say injury crisis? Did I say not much confidence in strikeforce? I'm pretty sure I never said that lol =P Although it was a poor performance from the defence. We'd conceeded one in the league, and now its tripled to THREE in seven games lol. How on earth can I choose between Field, Kitson, Walker and Eckersley?? | | | | | 15-02-08, 12:35 AM | #22 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Just outside Glasgow. Walker is the only name to return from the mass of injuries. 6-2 - Eckersley 4, Walker 2 Oh man, this Eckersley is amazing. 7 goals in his only 2 starts. Bad news though, he joins the physio room with a knock and will miss Hamilton clash. Field isn't fully match fit but returns to partner Walker upfront. Nixon is close to returning but is not risked. 2-1 Hamilton - Field, Wood It seems I can't go without a striker worry each game. Walker stretchered off with fractured ribs. 1-2 months. Bloody hell lol. And if that wasn't enough, right back Strain twists his ankle during training and is out for up to a month. It doesn't rain but it pours in Scotland. Eckersley strains his thigh and is awaiting treatment (asked if I should give him an injection but couldnt choose. Probably because he's on loan). 2nd placed St Johnstone next with a weakened squad still. Not a great start when McLoughlin scores an own goal in first minute. Shocking. 0-1 Full Time Really disapointed with that result. We never got going and despite the injuries, I know they can play a lot better than that. Field did score but it was offside and after looking at the replay, he was miles offside. I said the ref had made right decision and Field says he thinks I should stand up for his players off the pitch. If I wasn't short of strikers, I'd drop him for that. However, can't argue with this start although I would have liked to be at the quarter stage with 100% wins. | | | | 15-02-08, 07:33 PM | #25 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Just outside Glasgow. Hope you can get promoted. | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to FM_Scotland For This Useful Post: | | 16-02-08, 06:43 PM | #26 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: May 2006 Location: Essex Posts: 253 Thanks: 108 Thanked 28 Times in 28 Posts | We got back on form with these results 2-1 Clyde - Wood, Field 3-0 Motherwell -Johnson, Soutar, Kitson Kitson returned to the side with a goal, while Field fell out of favour with Cowdenbeath boss Bird. Basically, Field scored a goal which was clearly offside, and he tells me I should stick up for my players off the pitch. This is where our form falters where we struggle with injuries and suspensions... 2-4 Dundee - Eckersley, Louis 2-1 St Mirren - Johnson, Louis (very lucky win) Next up the Challenge Cup Final 0-1 St Mirren.. A McLoughlin own goal in the first minute. Very poor So back to the league 0-1 Airdrie And back to the cups... Scottish 3rd round where our central defensive duo both have suspensions. Fantastic lol 0-2 down at HT. Very poor. It got worse. Nixon sent off after 60 mins. 64 mins... WALKER!!!! 1-2 Then into injury time, Louis struck the equaliser taking a massive deflection to make it 2-2 and take it to a replay. 2-2 FT Our form is slipping but we're still top by 3pts, and 10pts over 3rd. EDIT - Checked on some managers. Joey Barton managing Workington and Luis Boa Morte managing Hednesford in BSN. Also Darren Ferguson managing Manchester....City. lol Last edited by BirdyFC; 16-02-08 at 06:53 PM. | | | | 17-02-08, 11:37 AM | #27 (permalink) | | vBookie Team, Member of the Ozza Family Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Cheshire Posts: 2,246 Thanks: 540 Thanked 328 Times in 268 Posts | Your doing good mate! Beat Hamilton on pens in a replay after 1-1 at FT (Walker) So back to the league 2-1 Ross County - Eckersley, Louis 3-0 Stirling - Eckersley, Walker, Kitson 0-2 Clyde 1-1 Hamilton - Eckersley 2-3 St Johnstone - Kitson 2 3-1 Motherwell - Kitson, Walker, OG 2-0 Forres Mechanics (Darmon, Kitson) - Scottish Cup 4th Round Bit of a short and not much detailed update. Reason. The 2-0 victory in the cup..... was my last under Cowdenbeath. 13th January 2020 Celtic have called a press conference for 11am to unveil their new manager.... | | | | 29-02-08, 09:06 AM | #32 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Just outside Glasgow. Celtic haven't finished in top two since 15/16... It's now 19/20 The staffing and coaching is a mess so I sort that out. I really want to change the squad but its really difficult to tell how good or bad we are. We definetly need to invest in youth so I spend a tiny bit of budget on a new young keeper Hutton (England U21) to put between the sticks and make some Brazilliant future signings whom are about 17/18 and then will stick on loan to Bulgaria for 3 years. The amount of oldies taking up the wage bill is ridiculous. Luckily most run out at the end of the season so they'll all be off and I'l be able to reshape the squad in the summer. Anyway to the results. First 9 games unbeaten (6 wins) including 5-0 over Rangers, and only conceding 3 :D Landini is on form. An Italian young striker who scores for fun. Our form slips a little and in the 7 following games, we lose twice and draw twice... but pick up another win against Rangers. This time 5-1 with Anichebe scoring a hat trick. He's been the on form striker lately. Which takes me up to the final game of the season... I started about 7 or just a couple more points behind Rangers and in 3rd place. I have closed the gap to just 2 points, when we really should be ahead but some shocking performances cost us points. Meanwhile at Cowdenbeath, Damien Duff manages to throw away 6 point gap and finish 2nd. Also Villa, MK Dons and Bolton are relegated from the Championship. So the final day of the season. Celtic vs Partick Rangers vs Inverness To win the title, we need Rangers to not win and us to beat Partick. Our goal difference will win it if they draw. Either way its Celtic's best finish for a few years and Champions League Football :D 6 mins... LANDINI!!! 1-0 to Celtic 8 mins... own goal!! 2-0 29 mins... ANICHEBE!! 3-0 34 mins... Rangers 1-0 Inverness Half Time... the title looks to be heading to Rangers Full Time. No goals in the second half. We did what we could but Rangers scraped the win. A real shame that a team we put 10 goals past in two games won the league. Oh well. Next year, it's ours. | | | | 10-03-08, 07:44 PM | #34 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: May 2006 Location: Essex Posts: 253 Thanks: 108 Thanked 28 Times in 28 Posts | 2020/21 Season Rodriguez arrives from Mallorca for 90k. He is honestly worth millions with amazing stats. A real steal :D I reckon he'll get first cap this year for Argentina. Vitolo, Marco Aurelio, Dillon, Di Palma, Green, Matthews, Butcher all arrive to bulk up the squad with promising youth. None are too special yet. Maybe one or two will turn really good. July to October We sail through the second qualifying round for Champions League with 9-1 against Skonto. We then beat Galatasaray in third qualifying round first leg, but get trounced 4-1 away and go into UEFA Cup. Bit of a disappointment. Meanwhile, our league start is poor. 2 wins, 2 losses, 3 draws in first seven games. Although Rangers are really struggling with 1 point. Craig Walton arrives from Hearts for 4m on deadline day. We need him to bolster our defence. In the cups though, we're cruising and Anichebe is loving it. 5-0 vs Dinamo in first leg with Anichebe grabbing 4. Then a 8-0 trouncing of Falkirk in League Cup. Anichebe grabbing 5!! Our form picks up and we win the next four league games. Anichebe is scoring for fun. He grabs another 4 vs Gretna. Good times for him. We also draw against Dinamo putting us in the group stages of UEFA Cup. Our UEFA Cup group... PSV, Fiorentina, Sparta Prague, Elfsborg. Ouch. We scrape 2-1 win over Elfsborg... but then get trounced 7-1 in the league to Hibernian. Shocking performance. We luckily manage to scrape two more league wins before end of October. November to December We kick off November with a great win. We were reduced to 10 men after 2 minutes! We go 2-0 down at HT, but Landini scores a hat trick as we manage to get a 4-3 win over Sparta Prague. We go on an atrocious run leading to the 27 December. We go out of League Cup to Kilmarnock. Draw 0-0 with Fiorentina (good result though as we qualify) 1-1 Partick 2-2 Dunfermline 1-1 Hearts 0-4 PSV (we qualify 2nd from our group) 1-4 Inverness All of that before we win 3-2 at Rangers (really struggling in 8th) and 2-0 over Dundee Utd. January / February The new year marks arrival of Wagner from Brazil. A promising midfielder at age of 18. We lose to Kilmarnock (again) before notching up 3-1 Scottish Cup win over Stirling and revenge on Hibs with 4-1 win. I then sign Broz (keeper) for 8 million as we concede way too many goals. He is a revelation as we keep three clean sheets in a row with 1 win and 1 draw in league and beating St Mirren in Scottish Cup. That takes us up to end of January where I sign two young midfielders from Porto to bolster the squad (plus the fact they're really good at 17 and 18). Our form returns to our usual rocky self... 1-2 vs Partick. 2-0 vs Sunderland in UEFA Cup 2-3 vs Dunfermline where we scored 4 of the goals. Phew... long post that. Anyway to summarise. Poor season so far. 4th in League. 9 points behind. Ouch. Landini has 31 goals... Anichebe has 28. Rodriguez has also become an amazing internatonal player with 3 caps and 3 assists, 1 MOM and a goal. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to BirdyFC For This Useful Post: | | 10-03-08, 07:55 PM | #35 (permalink) | | vBookie Team, Member of the Ozza Family Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Cheshire Posts: 2,246 Thanks: 540 Thanked 328 Times in 268 Posts | Nice signings mate, never heard of them lyk because they are like 2 in real life lmao KIU :D | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to WozzaWolves For This Useful Post: | | 10-03-08, 07:57 PM | #36 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: May 2006 Location: Essex Posts: 253 Thanks: 108 Thanked 28 Times in 28 Posts | Haha yeah. The only guy that is actually playing IRL now is Anichebe for Everton. He's 33 now but bangs them in. Doesnt score regularly but when he does, he scores 4's and a 5 as well. Not much to write about really. We continued our rocky form and came 4th in the SPL. Rangers came 6th. Hibs won the league on GD from Inverness. We did get to Scottish Cup final... but lost to Hibs. The Celtic board amazingly offered me a new contract, but I turned it down. I needed a new challenge... NEW CLUB Blue Square North Predicted to finish 22nd. 482k in the red. 0 transfer budget. £135 wage budget. We're spending about 4.5k or something.... No assistant manager, 1 coach, 1 physio, 2 scouts Tried to sign new players and staff. They agree but board block them all due to our wage bill being too high already. Find out that my keeper takes 2.1k a week.... he's a good goalie (Conference quality) but I am desperate to get rid of him. Therefore with no-one coming in, I've promoted my coach to asst manager. This club is in a complete shambles... Well I've completed the season now and forgot all the details. When everyone and myself thought we'd struggle.... we didn't. McPherson and Lovegrove were outstanding upfront and scored tons of goals. Billy Smith (the keeper on huge wages) proved his worth and was a damn good keeper (not worth 2.1k a week though). We fought long and hard with Kettering all season and finished.... 2nd!!! Possibly my finest season in management. 70 goals for my strike partnership. Simply amazing strikers. So we were in the playoffs... beat Stalybridge 3-1 to reach the final. ... 2-0 FT! We got promoted!!!!!!!!!! How? I'll never know. Here's some screenshots (sorry for not detailed update). Also, this was the FA Trophy final. Goalfest. And into the BSP we go, we finally get a decent wage budget so I make full use and buy effectively a new squad with 18 people coming in on frees. And all quality signings.... it's also paying off so far. More on that soon. | | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | | |
