April 2030

BEDFORD PROMOTION HOPES FADE

1 Watford
0 Bedford

Bedford have been quite wasteful as late and really should have beaten Watford. They'll really need to get back into shape and quick.

LOVE SAVES A POINT

1 Wigan
1 Bedford

Damien Love came off the bench to grab a point for a terribly off-form Bedford. The fixtures against Blackburn and Everton are even more important now.

BEDFORD REFOCUS FOR PLAYOFFS

2 Bedford
2 Charlton

After failing to win yet again, it now seems highly unlikely Bedford will get the automatic promotion place. Goals came from Marchegiani and Love.

BRIGHTON ROCK BEDFORD

3 Brighton
1 Bedford

Pundits are now wondering if Bedford peaked too early as they were ripped apart by Brighton yesterday. Damien Love got a consolation goal but they will now have to regain form if they want to succeed in the play-offs.

BEDFORD BEATN AGAIN

0 Bedford
1 Everton

Bedford are now guaranteed to face Arsenal in the play-offs, and with the form Bedford are in, pundits are expecting them to lose.

May 2030

BEDFORD FINISH 5TH

4 Blackburn
2 Bedford

Bedford end their season and now haven't won in seven. Good news is that Zoumana Courteille is back on form with two goals.

LEVEL AFTER LEG ONE

1 Bedford
1 Arsenal

Damien Love scored as Bedford drew with Arsenal, with Victor Sendra putting in a great performance in goal for Bedford.

BEDFORD FAIL TO TURN UP

3 Arsenal
0 Bedford

Bedford just fell apart in the second leg, and Zoumana Courteille played a shocker. Bedford will stay in the Championship next season.

I'm also happy to announce a new deal with Cheltenham Town which means we can now loan players to both L1 and L2 after Forest Green's promotion. That'll be very useful.

Also, this was the 3rd place playoff for the World Cup. Crazy lol

Not a single win these past months Birdy. I think you need to kick your team into gear for next season.

I suppose it could've been worse, you could've been battling relegation instead of pushing for automatic promotion. A couple of good signings next season should see you gain automatic promotion into the Premier League.

Good luck for that.

Oh and that is a bizarre third place play-off.

Thanks for the support ru. I hope I can finally get promoted, as the Championship is always my stumbling block. It was with MK, and it seems it is with Bedford too.

blobbob- Thanks :)
My addictiveness is that no-one can accuse me of lacking commitment and it's about 15 days and 20 hours. Waaaay too much time on my hands lol, but I started this as soon as 8.0.1 was out so has been going for a while.
And Fulham are still in the Premier League... and actually really good.

No signings during the summer as no transfer budget and no gems I could get on a free. The following players have left the club....
Adam Salmon > Charlton (12k)
Hugo Gomes > Charlton (20k)
Darren McDiarmid > Dag & Red (Free)

Therefore we have quite a small squad now but hopefully it can mount another promotion challenge.

August 2030

Norwich 1-1 Bedford
Cizek 11

Post-match Quote: "It's not a bad way to start off the season, but I'm unhappy with Norwich's tactics that have resulted in injuries to Courteille and Arberi."

Sheff Wed 1-2 Bedford
Anderson 50 | Branco 59

Post-match Quote: "A great win and a fantastic first senior goal for Branco just three minutes into his debut."

Bedford 0-0 Wigan

Post-match Quote: "Another draw but it seems we've overcome our defensive issues and Sendra is in the form of his life in goal."

Southend 2-0 Bedford (League Cup 1st Round)

Post-match Quote: "That wasn't a good result, considering we had a fairly strong team out there today. Credit to Southend though who defended impeccably."

Bedford 4-4 Huddersfield
Flynn OG 3 | Courteille 9 | Domenghini 37 | Anderson 43

Post-match Quote: "I am deeply upset by our second half performance. When you go in 4-1 up at half time, you shouldn't draw the game."

Hereford 1-0 Bedford

Post-match Quote: "We just were outplayed again and I'm starting to question everyone's commitment to the team."

Bedford 2-1 Gillingham (Live on Sky Sports 1)
Anderson 29 | Williams 94 (pen)

Post-match Quote: "We were very very lucky to come away with this win. We played a very good game and should have won by a large margin, but we made it difficult for ourselves."

Newcastle 1-3 Bedford
Fogg OG 6 | M'Laab 8 | Love 22 |

Post-match Quote: "I'm pleased with the result today and I think that puts us in joint 6th which isn't a bad start to the season at all."

See that's why Norwich aren't one of my favourite clubs.

Those injuries to Courteille and Arberi can't help your already depleted squad.

Oh, I might have missed it already, but how come you didn't have a transfer budget?

It's because of our new stadium, and I think also because we kept improving our facilities (they're still not good). So we have no money and paying back the loan each month.

And then because of the loan, my wage budget is quite tight as well. 130k for the whole squad and it's not a huge squad anymore.

It's starting to look like the Championship is as far as you can go for a while with Bedford. Maybe once you sort out the financial situation, you can bring in the players you need.

Then again, you've surprised everyone by getting them this far already. Maybe you'll surprise us all again by getting promoted this season.

Up and down months there Birdy. You're doing brilliantly at the moment though mate.

I'm not sure what's going on with Denmark though mate, you just can't seem to win with them. Weird really as you're doing so great with Bedford.

Another couple of dodgy months there again Birdy. You've dropped out of the play off places.

Is it the lack of numbers in the squad that's effecting team morale, and the fact that Love wants to leave?

Good luck mate. I'm sure you'll be able to turn it around.

Thanks ru. No-one seems to have concerns about Love wanting to go, it's only Love's morale that is low but that's picking up now that he's scoring a few.
I think it's just every time we start to build morale and win a few, we lose a few which knocks it back down.

January 2031

Huddersfield 2-2 Bedford
Courteille 18, 36

Post-match Quote: "They had two shots... and scored twice, so yeah I think we were robbed."

Venezia have snapped up Bedford's Walter Grossi for a fee of 500k. It is expected that manager Chris Bird will recall Lasse Brandt from his successful loan spell at Cheltenham, and become the new number two at Bedford Stadium.

Luke Wright has joined Bedford on loan from Ipswich. The centre back is expected to give manager Chris Bird an extra option in defence.

Bedford 0-1 Watford (FA Cup Third Round)

Post-match Quote: "That was an earlier exit than I expected and I apologise to the fans."

Bedford 3-0 Hereford
Courteille 24 | Jansen 67 (pen), 93

Post-match Quote: "A good performance by the lads and Jeroen (Jansen) put in a great stake to be included on a more regular basis."

It's the news that Bedford fans were dreading. After refusing to sign a new contract to stay at Bedford Stadium, the Northern Ireland international has agreed to join Lille on a free in the summer.

Gillingham 0-2 Bedford
Courteille 17, 22

Post-match Quote: "That was a six-pointer against Gillingham today, and we came out on top so I can't be happier."

Bedford 2-1 Newcastle
Love 12 | M'Laab 89

Post-match Quote: "Despite Damien (Love) signing a deal to leave in the summer, you have to praise his commitment to this club."

Bedford have announced the signing of Mariano Mordenti from Slavia Prague for a fee of 500k. The 24 year old right winger has already been included in Chris Bird's squad that will face Hull on Saturday.

February 2031

Hull 3-3 Bedford
Domenghini 1 | Vispi 36 | Cizek 67

Post-match Quote: "I think a point was a fair result for both sides."

Bedford 1-3 Crystal Palace
Love 21

Post-match Quote: "A disappointing performance but I know we can bounce right back."

Bedford 2-1 Millwall
Anderson 11 | Love 70

Post-match Quote: "Yeah, it was a fantastic penalty save from Victor (Sendra) and it won us the game."

Preston 1-4 Bedford
Brown 13 | Jansen 32 (pen) | Anderson 36 | Rayner 68

Post-match Quote: "A brilliant result for the boys, and I can sense belief in the squad again."

Aston Villa 1-1 Bedford
Courteille 27

Post-match Quote: "We deserved a win today, but that's all been overshadowed by Jack's (Anderson) injury. We're hoping it's not torn knee ligaments, but if it is, that's two months out."

Not a bad couple of months actually. We're back in the hunt for the play-offs, but the big blow is Damien Love leaving at the end of the season.

March 2031

Bedford 2-2 Sheffield Utd
Courteille 53, 71

Post-match Quote: "Taking a point off the leaders? Yeah, very happy with that."

Bolton 0-2 Bedford
M'Laab 71, 83

Post-match Quote: "Yeah, Cedric (M'Laab) was our super-sub today. He really enjoys getting to run forward from midfield and he had the space to do that today."

Bedford 3-1 QPR (Live on Sky Sports 3)
Mordenti 40 | Beresford 71 | Courteille 87

Post-match Quote: "I was a bit worried after the third minute penalty, but the guys worked hard and got a good win."

Leeds 4-3 Bedford

May 2031

Birmingham 0-3 Bedford
Domenghini 4, 31 | Anderson 90

Post-match Quote: "It was great to see Jack (Anderson) make his comeback from injury today. It shows how sharp Jack is playing his first 16 minutes of football in a few months and scoring."

And so we finish 5th again, and will face Blackburn in the play-offs whom have recently got a new manager. We picked up one point against Blackburn this year, and have never beaten them in six fixtures.

Some bad news for Bedford fans as on loan centre back Luke Wright is ruled out of the play-offs with a virus.

Bedford 2-1 Blackburn
Courteille 29 | Anderson 85

Post-match Quote: "It was a great win but this play-off is far from over."

Blackburn 3-6 Bedford
Love 9, 12, 22, 47 | Courteille 41 | Mordenti 62

Post-match Quote: "This is a fantastic day for Bedford. We are now just 90 minutes from reaching the top flight in my tenth year at the club. Damien (Love) has shown his commitment to this club despite his move to Lille in the summer."

Ah man, that's unreal.

As if Bedford hasn't renewed your contract. If you leave are you going to carry on and try and get another job?

Really unlucky losing the playoff final on penalties as well mate.

Thats harsh, I would keep you if I'm the board, who else could take Bedford from Blue Square North to the Champ and nearly Prem? Perhaps SI need to fix things like this, if you do really well you shouldnt be sacked. We all learned from Fulham that we should keep our manager haha!

Current Game:
Eastleigh, 2011/12 - Coca Cola Championship, 19th
Mezzocorona, 2007/08 - Serie C2 Girone A - 8th
