heres my december update
its the 7th in the game, since i decided to wait until my stadium expansion was complete

brace yourselves, your in for a few shocks...

The League Table:

Its hard to find a team that is sitting in 4th place, as I am now, and having conceded the most goals in the whole league. I am having SERIOUS defensive problems, and have not had a clean sheet in 9 matches. My defence is top-class though, with everyone having 7 stars in the assistant manager's opinion, and all the scouts.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated

My latest fixtures:

Almost every game, I have scored at least 2 or 3 goals, and also conceded at least 2. There hasn't been a game which I can remember where the commentators didn't say What a Game!!! at the end, or something along its lines.

The team right now:

The team, in an attacking sense, it is amazing, in a defending sense, it looks as if its ok, with all defenders coming out of the game with 7 (or higher) ratings, but when you watch them play, its woeful. If it had not been for Kenny Arthur, that 44 goals we conceded would surely have been 144. Another thing to notice is that Lauri Dalla Valle has entered a mini-slump (I hope its just mini) and hasnt scored i a few games, and has emerged with two 6's and a 5. Luckily, Gustavo Pinedo, Alain Pierre Baclet, and Alex Fernandez, have stepped it up and are now providing the goals for the team.
On the tactical point of view, I have tried both mine and Fed's tactics, both seem to work, with man games being wins, but goals are being conceded whatever I do.

On an even worse note, my finances continue to drop (look at all that red), but hopefully the stadium expansion will help


and so I leave you, hoping for some help for that faltering defence, and grateful that you've taken the time to read this

em u concede a lot of goals but u score more ;) which always helps :P em i haven't a clue what to tell u as u said ur defenders are getting 7 or higher each match em........... u even playing a DM so its not ur tactic but make sure he is pretecting the back-4 in the games as all the troble might be from the middle and he is not doing his job
lets us know if u find out where the problem is coming from ;)

thanks for the replies guys. dolph i dunno why you should be jealous , i could be doing a LOT better this season this season
and i dont know what exactly is wrong, but it corrected itself
i put darren barr at right-back and we got 3 clean sheets (and 3 resounding wins) in a row. he gets a slight knock and i put kilian in his place, i get a 2-2 draw with hull...
ill use barr again at right-back and see what happens. also, pinedo scored 5 in a match, alex fernandez got 2 in one, they both have something like 14 goals, dalla valle has 18, and hoiland has 7 or 8

Hey Apthered. Sry, been quite busy lately. Forgot to thank u for the Bentley thing too. Lol erm i recommend Sabic, but i dunno how good he woulc be on your game. Esmir Sabic i think, i grabbed him for 18k in League 2, and he scored 2 on the debut lol.

Bought Hoiland for 55k and 850 pounds per week here =)...and if u want more transfer money, consider lowering your wage budget slightly, and it should increase ur budget =). Waiting for ur update!

funny you mention sabic, his contract runs out in the summer and he is signing on a free then
ive decided no to get any players since my transfer and wage budgets are pretty low, also, gaspari, austin, pinedo and dalla valle's contracts need renewing
the board accepted a 6.5 million bid for dalla valle, but he instead stayed with me
i am now 2nd in the league after winning against Blackburn, so that is a big positive on the promotion front
and im also through to the 4th round of the fa cup
might play a bit later this week
will keep you all updated...

What formation you using Ap? I've been using blondu's trying to get wolves back in the prem, started brightly but fading badly now haha! Any recommendations?

im using two, if one doesnt work the i switch to the other
one is 4-4-2 diamond (my tactic)
the other is 4-2-3-1 (fed's supremo tactic)
i tinkered a bit so it would suit me more and i have made both tactics more of short passing and a slower pace, ive also increased closing down, and added tight marking for DCs

I've this defensive problem too with my Kettering game (currently in the L2).No tactic could change the situation.The only solution I've found is put certain players in certain positions.
