Havant & Waterlooville 0-1 Portsmouth

As the day dawned we all knew that there would a heap of pressure upon one fourteen-year-olds shoulders. The new manager of Portsmouth, Ben King, took charge of his local side for the first time today as they faced local minnows Havant & Waterlooville. Despite them being in the Blue Square South Pompey knew they had a slippery fish in their hands when they stepped out onto the field. 2 Seasons ago, as some of you may recall, Havant & Waterlooville made it to the 3rd round of the FA Cup where they were 2-0 ahead of Liverpool though lost 4-2 in the end. Portsmouth didn’t seem dominant though they managed to lead after just 16 minutes after Mvuemba scored from a powerful header, though Portsmouth did not manage to convert any more chances. The game was very slow and, at times, extremely bogged down though in the end there was a result for the new manager to smile about. After the match he admitted: “We did not play that well today and we weren’t looking very confident though I still have confidence in the side.” All three of King’s new signings played some part in today’s game. Martin Caceres, Juan Roman Riquelme and Fernandinho were all involoved in the win. Caceres came in for £12.75M from Spanish giants Barcelona, Argentine set-piece god, Juan Roman Riquelme, came in for £20M from Brazilian side Boca and finally Fernandinho, ex-Shakhtar star, was brought in for £11.5M. Altogether £44.25M has been spent on transfers and King shows no sign of stopping soon as, apparently, Real Madrid left winger Marcelo, is about to sign for the southern side.

Derby County 0-1 Portsmouth

Another 1-0 win for FA Cup holders Portsmouth has seen their fans start believing that they can win the Community Shield next month. Pompey face Premiership holders Man Utd as they fight it out to win the first trophy of the season. King has also said that the side can win the competition “as long as we play well. However it is a long time until that game and King wanted to try and stay with today’s game. The only goal came from an injury time strike from Jerome Thomas. Despite many players being linked with the club there have been no new signings since the Havant & Waterloville match though King has said; “There will be a few more players coming in so watch this space!!”

haha you don't always win mate he only beat Havant & Waterlooville 1-0 not a great victory for a team 6 leagues above them
