Dream on... I woke up to the sound of birds whistling in the trees, the smell of cooking bread down the road and the reason i had woke up, my kitten Sonic scrapping me as if i were some sort of toy. I got out of bed, went to the toilet to let out some well we wont go there. I strolled down the stairs whilst still half a sleep, Sonic was bouncing just behind me in joy, he was happy i was awake. I pushed the door out with my toes, walked through the living room and into the kitchen. So i turned the corner. There was a middle aged man sitting at the end of my dinning room table with a mug of tea. "Who are you?" i asked in shock. "I am Tom Doodler, i was asked to come here to inform you results have not been good enough, to never come back to Cambridge United and basically fuck off!" "Get out of my house!" i screamed in a threating manor. The man knocked the mug of tea over, accidently on purpose. Smiled then walked out of the back door. Straight away Sonic rushed over to the tea. He started to slurp up the hot beverge, before the heat of the drink struck him. He yelped and walked to his water bowl and slurped it up. Georgina strolled into the room, speaking about some shity reality TV show to one of her friends on her mobile. "Why the fuck did you answer the door to that man?" I asked. She told her friend she would call her back, and slammed the phone on the table. "I wasn't gonna leave him outside was i?" "Thats the end of my job, how i am going to afford to pay for this house i do not know." So my rein with Cambridge City had ended, jus two and half years in charge. Getting promotion to League 2, getting relgated to the Blue Square Premier, and performing shit in my final months. A four bedroom house to pay for, two kittens to pay for and my lover to look after... | Massive thanks to James M for the great sig. A number of days passed. No luck. I had still not found a job, or even something i would consider applying for. I thought of leaving football a few times. I couldn't have been a very good manager or i wouldn't have been sacked by Cambridge so surely it was fate, i wasn't to be a manager? "Im leaving England". I said out of the blue. "What are you going on about now?". Georgina replied. "Im looking for a job in a different country". I said in demand. "Right, if you find a job that can pay for a house, call me and i will come over". Why not? What have i got to loose but money? So i ordered the cheapest ticket to a random place in Spain. The place was called Santander, based in the north of the beautiful country. I phoned up my friend Adam to come with me i didnt want to go over there on my own. So i packed my stuff and got ready for the flight the next day. ***** I woke up to the delight of Sonic scrapping my bed again! At least i would get away from the little rascal for a few days! I toasted a peice of bread and gobbled it within seconds. I jumped in my Honda Civic, picked up Adam, then we got on our way to Gatwick airport. We arrived at the airport with hours to go untill out flight, we put our bags through, and did all that other crap you do when you fly somewhere. The plane journey was fairly decent when you consider how cheap the tickets cost. We arrived just after midday. So i found a map, looked for the the closest club which was Real Racing Club de Santander. We hired a light blue Seat Leon then we drove to the football club. The city seemed a nice place, if only i could get a job here, then i would be able to live in a beautiful city with a massive house. That would be perfect. But they were just dreams for now. I knew the chances of getting a job here were extremelly slim. So we walked into the stadium named El Sardinero, it made me chuckle a little bit at first glance, i thought it was called El Sardine. Sad but funny. I moved my way into the lovely stadium to be shocked... A big England flag... What was this for? I strolled over to the plaque and information board next to it. To my suprise the club had previously had an English manager who went by the name of Fred Pentland. Was i in luck? Could i be number two? I walked over to the receptionist. "Hola". I tried to say in a Spanish accent. "Hello". The lady replied "How do you know i am English?" I asked entridged. "Its not hard to tell. Why do you come to Racing?" The lady said. "To try and find a job". I must have sounded like an idiot. "Your in luck we are looking for a coach who is NOT Spainish". She took my name, number and my previous job history. I walked out of the stadium knowing i could be in with a chance of a coaching job. Or maybe not. I just had to wait for a phone call now...

I waited, then waited more, then some more. Time seemed to drag on despite looking around the amazing city of Satander. We found ourselves a nice four star hotel called Sardinero. The same name as the stadium, it made me think is Sardinero a place in Santander? I wasn't sure but i didn't care. After gettin ourselves unpacked we went to the buffet. I most certianlly ate what i paid for, i was starving after the long, long day like we had occured. I went to my room, put the tele on... ***** I woke up to the sound of a Spainish speaking women on the tele. I forgot what happened the night before then it clicked, i fell asleep with the tele on. I got showered, dressed, had some food, then it was time to go to the beach. The day went quickly before i knew it i was hungry for lunch. So me and Adam went to some English Cafe and had some food. Whilst munching my sandwich i heard my phone ringing. The call i had been waiting for! I answered my phone, it was the chairman of Racing he told me his name was Francisco Pernia. He wanted an interview with me about the job i had applied for... I couldn't belive i had the conversation. I had a chance to become a coach at a big Spanish football club. I went back to the hotel to change into my suit and get myself looking smart. I arrived at the El Sardinero 15minutes before the time i was told. I went to the reception, the lady i had seen the day before was there again, she lead me to Francisco Pernia's office. I knocked on the door nervously. I heard the sound come in, so i opened the door and dragged my self into this amazing office, it was nothing like i had ever seen before, leather sofas, wooden flooring, photos of managers and footballers of the past. I went to the chair opposite Francisco and sat down when told to. We had a long chat about the club, why i wanted the job, what i could bring to the club. I had been offered a mug of tea before the interview took place, it was sweet, i was now on the last gulp of it. I didn't enjoy the interview i was scared the whole time. "I would like to offer you the job as Real Racing Club de Santander's manager". Francisco said happily out of nowhere. "I would love to!". I screamed back at him. "Calm down young man, it is only a two year contract, you will have the chance to prove yourself in that time". I signed the contract he handed over to me. I walked out the room knowing i had a brilliant job about to start. Oh, and i had a folder full of papers that i had to look through. In two days time i would be training a team of pro footballers... I had alot to sort out... The dream had begun. | Massive thanks to James M for the great sig. So i drove back to the hotel, i told Adam the unbelivable news. He was just as shocked as me. I had only ever had managed Cambridge City. I got relgated? What was special about that? So i rung up Georgina to tell her about being offered a job which would be paying 5k a week! We talked about how we were going to send all our stuff over to Santander and of course about getting the two kittens over here. Francisco said he was going to find us a house with four bedrooms plus everything else we would need. Georgina told me she would sort out all the stuff to be sent over and that she would be over tommrow night. So i would be ok to stay here, i wouldnt have to return to England. Adam told me he was going to fly back tommorow but would come back in a few weeks once we had everything sorted out. So we went out for the day, to the local zoo, back to city centre and basically just made the day go as quick as possible. ***** I was waking up yet again to Sonic scrapping on my Arsenal duvet. The previous day was a boring day in all fairness. Adam went back to England. I had been shown to my new Villa which had 4 bedrooms, a swimming pool, a big garden and to make it even better was based in a lovely place. I had alot of things to read about like the rules of non EU players in the team at one point. We never have things like this in England? I wondered why? I read about all the players briefly, about the finance problems at the club and that i would have to sell some of the top players to get the club out of debt. I didn't realise any of this when i signed the contract. But it's part of football i suppose. So i got up, went to have some coco pops and watch sky sports news. There was a story about me taking over Racing, it was quite intresting hearing what people had to say about me. I got up and realised the first day of training had arrived. I jumped in my Honda Civic which had been sent over from England. I was on my way to pre season training at Real Racing Club de Santander. I arrived at the club training ground earlier then expected. I wanted to make a good impression in front of the staff and chairman. I didn't want them thinking i was a poor time keeper like Pascal Chimbonda or someone. I went to see the chairman and have a chat about the finances, the best players, what i could spend plus we spoke briefly about the expectations of the season. The i told him i wanted to bring in Steve Gritt as my assitant manager. Steve had been a friend of mine when he was manager of Brighton. He was just a youth coach at Charlton but he was best as an assitant. He was also English, i considered my options but he was who i wanted. Then i wanted Masseimo Neri, a coach for England under Fabio Capello. I walked out onto the newly laid training pitch. It didnt have a single scuff mark. If only it would keep like is... I set out some training exercises, some fitness work, some shooting, passing, defending and then a small match. I wanted to have a bit of a bonding session for the first few days so i got to know the players. I then had time to sit down for 5minutes before the players started arriving. I had about 23 players turn up for this training session. The squad was far to big. I was going to have to free up some wages, i knew that when i took over, but now i realised it wouldn't be easy. It was diffcult communicating with some players, but it was handy that a few coaches spoke English. I was going to have to learn Spanish pretty quicklt if i were going to cope with what was wanted of me. We got through some training exercises, and i was already starting to see how good Garay and Tchite were. Garay was only 20 but he was solid, he had a brilliant tackle and a very good aweness of the game. Tchite was a extremally quick player, plus he had a brilliant eye for goal he rarely missed during the training session. Time for the 6 a-side tourny i had set up. The captain were going to be Garay, Pedro Muntis, Pinillos and Oriol. I saw some nice flowing football during that time, i knew i wanted the team playing sexy football, so i would start them on that in the new few sessions. Then i saw something that would help me make my mind up. Pedro Muntis has punched one of the younger lads for no reason at all. At least i thought not. I didn't want a player like this at the club, i fined him two weeks wages, told him not to come into training and that he would be up for sale. Later that day i worked out who else i would put up for sale. The club needed alot done to it. I would have to start sometime so why not now? I also bidded for a Mexico international who i had watched a few times on tele, his name was Luis Ernesto Perez. He played as a central midfielder for Monterrey in Mexico, i needed a centre mid, he would fit the spot perfectly. I drove home after a long morning. I saw down on the sofa... | Massive thanks to James M for the great sig.
