With the sequel to my hit story Race For The Title in the pipeline come October and the release of the new game, I thought it would be an interesting contrast to make a special edition Summer version of the story in an online game with Chris, with 10 teams each. All the old specifications will apply, everything has to be right and authentic, ie squad numbers. The only transfers that can be made are ones that happen in real life, and the same applies to sales as well. The correct fees have to be paid to ensure this is as reallistic as possible. This isn't necessarily a story, just a special edition thread to keep you updated on events, but the sequel, which as I said is due in October will be written the same as the original, with some added surprises. We've decided to make it into a bit of a story now, so it's a mix of both, please can someone move it to the Writer's Section. Thanks. The teams are as follows: Chris: T.H: Liverpool Man Utd Chelsea Tottenham Aston Villa Arsenal Newcastle Hull Fulham West Brom Middlesbrough Everton Man City Bolton Stoke Blackburn Sunderland Portsmouth West Ham Wigan Any questions regarding this or any of the other Race For The Title stories, please contact me, or see the original Race For The Title story. We've got a good set of challenging friendlies lined up, to optimise are fitness for the new season. First up we've got Bolton in a pre season tournament set up by the FA to promote the new Premier League season. We expect a good runout and so going into the match I picked a full strength side. Megson had the same idea and so we expected a good tough game, perfect preparation for the new season. I put faith in a couple of the new boys, Olivier and Daniel in midfield, and I took a risk in playing Henri Camara up front, a player that had had one exceptional season for the club, but faltered since. I made plently of subs at half time and during the second half, and I am especially pleased with the performance of Lee Cattermole, who came off the bench to score twice on his debut. I now look forward to watching the Sunderland Middlesbrough game to see who we get in the final. We’ve got a tournament ahead of us and with the likes of Wigan, Sunderland and Bolton it’s going to be tough, in our first game we will be playing Roy Keane’s Sunderland, I think it will be tough since they have the likes of Chimbonda, Malbranque and Diouf. But I reckon the boys can pull a result around. I think this was just what i wanted, the team talk inspired them for a big victory, but Sunderland played well and they could have won this any day, I think we do need improving in some areas but otherwise, it's all going swell Last edited by ChrisA; 03-08-08 at 08:24 PM. | | | | | 03-08-08, 12:45 PM | #7 (permalink) | | Indispensable To FMF Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Evesham,England Posts: 1,982 Thanks: 572 Thanked 326 Times in 302 Posts Nominated 3 Times in 3 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | lol likeing the way you doing it KIU | Big Thanks to Apthered for a top sig cheers mate remember November 11th we pray for all that lost there lives for us | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to adamjigey For This Useful Post: | | 03-08-08, 01:15 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Blackpool FC Supporter and 19th Member on the Site Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Blackpool Posts: 2,317 Thanks: 122 Thanked 302 Times in 224 Posts Nominated 10 Times in 2 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | great result there chris | Lest We Forget Quote: Originally Posted by angelsaint i heard you have to be a newbieto be a mod sooooo.... here i am. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Y2Stu For This Useful Post: | | 03-08-08, 03:35 PM | #9 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Knaresborough Posts: 506 Thanks: 945 Thanked 357 Times in 282 Posts Nominated 11 Times in 3 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 1 | Cesc Fabregas - Arsenal Football Club The season has started very well, we are regaining fitness after a tiring season last year. I spent 2 weeks in Brazil this summer and now it's time to ditch the sun and beach for a tournament game with Chelsea, as part of a scheme set up by the FA. I was very intrigued with the manager's selection as he started with quite a strong side. I was glad to see a lot of the younger talent at the club coming off the bench, and it was fantastic to see us win, as well as Carlos score a goal. I have to agree that they did outplay us and we need to improve and put some more effort in. Scolari is doing great training wise but pitch wise he's still learning. The squad's looking good and after a mediocre performance against Bolton yesterday, we were really looking forward to the third-fourth place play off the following day. In the end we came out comfortable winners over Sunderland, and it was a result that pleased both us, and the fans. When we pegged it back to 2-1 I thought we had a chance to get back into the match and possibly go on to win, but in the end we weren't good enough and allowed them the win. The team looked positive though and the manager showed how important this season is with the team he put out today. The anxiety of going out to my new fans was getting stronger and stronger. Having to switch my shorts before the game didn't help either, I just wanted to get out there and do a job. I was looking forward to a good result, and judging by the team the gaffer put out we had a good chance. I was keen to link up with Jermain in attack for the chance to bolster our chances of forming a good partnership for England. The game started at a high pace and I got more and more accustomed to the game as it aged. I was delighted to get on the scoresheet but disappointed with the result, although we gave it a good shot. A win tomorrow is important now. The lads performed extremely well, Noble scored as well, which is a great way to start the season for him. I'm really up for this year, and providing I put my injury troubles behind me, I think I can have a really good year. I'm setting a goal target of 16. The team's improving and training is going really well, and if we play like this in the Premier League, you never know where we will end up!
