This is 30-year-old Carter's first position in management and his arrival has sent shockwaves through the El Taladro fanbase. A huge crowd desended onto Florencio Sola to protest about the club's new arrival with many calling for President Carlos Portell's head for sactioning such a drastic move. At the Press Conference Portell defended his decision by saying that Carter was somewhat of a prodigy in the Football world. Carter got his start in Football at English Non-League side Rushden & Diamonds where he took a role as a scout and later as a director. From there he moved onto Premiership side Portsmouth after he orchestrated the move of Rushden players, Ugo Udoji, Callum Reynolds and Paris Cowan-Hall to Fratton Park. While at Portsmouth he took a role once again as a member of the Scouting team and was part of a project to develop links in South America. At this time Carter met Carlos Portell who was so impressed with the young Englishman that he offered him a job on the spot in the clubs vacant role as manager. Carter was silent throughout the press conference prefering to let his personal interpretor do the talking, however a statement outlined his vision for his team which included bringing in some of South America's top young talent. | | | | | 30-06-08, 02:54 PM | #2 (permalink) | | FMF Donator, V.I.P and Writer. According to the clubs website Gabrich departed as part of a mutual termination deal. Talking outside his house today Gabrich stated that the decision to leave was an easy one and also claimed that many within the club felt the club could become a laughing stock in Argentina if the inevitable happened and new manager Will Carter turned out to be a failure. Villanueva to Banfield Reports are today suggesting that a deal to sign 21-year-old Chilean Midfielder Carlos Villanueva could be a matter of days away for Argentinian side Banfield. Villanueva is considered one of Chile's top prospects and would be a great boost to the Banfield squad. Villanueva's club Audax Italiano could not deny that their star player would be leaving soon with their spokesperson saying 'Carlos is a top talent and unfortuantly for us it is only a matter of time before other clubs come knocking. We at Audax Italiano will do our upmost to make sure that whatever is decided is best for not only the club but the player too.' | | | | | 30-06-08, 04:26 PM | #5 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 19 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Colegiales 0-2 Banfield Friendly Review: Banfield were the dominant side against a lacklustre Colegiates. Banfield will have felt that they could have won by a much bigger margin but two goals from Dario Cvitanich showed why the 23-year-old Striker is gaining so much attention from Europe. Former International Arrives Former Argentinian International Fernando Gamboa has arrived at Banfield from Boca Juniors. The 36-year-old has taken up the vacant Assistant role alongside new Manager Will Carter and will also act as spokesperson for the Englishman. Gamboa was capped 15 times during his career and played for many top clubs in Argentina including Boca, River Plate and Newell's Old Boy's as well as spells in Spain and Austria. Gamboa was said to be excited by his new role and was looking forward to helping new Manager Carter settle into the Argentinian way of life. Espanol 0-2 Banfield Friendly Review: Another strong performance from Banfield. A number of scouts were in attentance to assess Dario Cvitanich, who put in another strong performance and got himself on the scoresheet. With a rumoured £1m bid on the table from Zenit St. Petersburg could it only be a matter of time before Cvitanich heads to Europe? | | | | | 01-07-08, 01:45 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 19 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Villanueva Deal Fall's Through The expected move of Carlos Villanueva to Banfield fell through last night. The Chilean International instead opted to join Mexican side Deportivo Toluca after it emerged that Banfield could not meet his personal demands. This is a huge blow for new Manager Will Carter who saw Villanueva as the play maker to base his team around. Cvitanich Commits to El Taladro Banfield Striker Dario Cvitanich today commited his future to the club by signing an improved contract which will keep him at Florencio Sola until 2011. This seems to end speculation that Cvitanich would be joining Zenit St. Petersburg in the near future in a deal believed to be worth around £1m. Tacuarembo Futbol Club 0-0 Banfield Friendly Review: A good defensive display from Banfield in a performance which in they produced very little in the way of attacking opportunities. The truth be told, Banfield should have won this but based on this performance a draw was a fair result. Gimnasia y Esgrima de Concepcion del Uruguay 0-3 Banfield Friendly Review: A confident performance saw Banfield destroy their lesser opponents. Cvitanich was once again the star of the show scoring twice and winning a penalty. Banfield fans can only hope the club can keep a player of this quality for as long as possible. First Signing for Carter Pablo Perez last night became Will Carter's first signing for Banfield. The 22-year-old Midfielder arrives on a season long loan from Velez. Perez was considered one of Argentina's top prospects as a teenager but has never managed to fulfill his early potential. Banfield Assistant Manager Fernando Gamboa was quoted as saying 'Pablo is an unbelievable talent and we hope his stay here will be a successful one.' Armando Stadium for Banfield. Jose Malleo, Roberto Pompei and Sergio Saturno were unavailable for comment today but the general consensus is that they were attracted by the employment of influential coach Fernando Gamboa who left Boca earlier this month. These moves have left Boca's coaching staff looking desidedly slimline and from what a Director told us today there is a real sense of shock that a club such as Banfield could pull off such a coup as this. | | | | | 02-07-08, 12:07 AM | #14 (permalink) | | FMF Donator, V.I.P and Writer. If you offer them a job as a Youth Coach they're not interested but if you offer them a job as a Coach or Assistant you can get them on decent terms. | | | | | 02-07-08, 11:35 PM | #17 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 19 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | C.A.I. de Chubut 1-0 Banfield Friendly Review: Simply put, Banfield's attacking performance was dismal today. They seemed to lack ideas and creativity and when they did get in front of goal their finishing was awful. Torres Arrives Banfield fans were today celebrating the news that Will Carter had secured the signature of highly rated Tigres winger Nicolas Torres. The 23-year-old has long been thought of as one of the most talented players in Division 2 and looks to be a great attention to the Banfield squad. It is believed that Torres will step straight into the first team as the Left Wing has been a problem area since Carter's arrival. | | | | | 03-07-08, 12:35 AM | #18 (permalink) | | FMF Donator, V.I.P and Writer.
