Today in a Shock announcement rookie Michael Coombes has been announced as the new manager of la Viola, He states his ambition was to challenge for the Serie A title this season, however many pundits are commenting that it will be hard for Fiorentina to hold onto there place in Europe after the departure of Luca Toni, who was instrumental in la Viola's ressurection, despite this Coombes seems confident and only time will tell, According to the new owner of Fiorentina the transfer budget stands at an incredible £50m, and Coombes is sure to be using some of this on his quest for Serie A glory.

Fiorentina's board have today said that the £10.5m capture of Giles Barnes will be the last transfer made by Coombes until January, other captures include:
Axel Witsel from Standard ------- £1.9m
Serder Tacsi from Stuttgart ----- £10.75m
Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax ---- £4.7m
There is speculation that 18yo Witsel may be on the move in a loan deal for some valuable first team experience, details are said to be announced within the next few days, so far the Transfer's total stands at £28m leaving Coombes with £22m left for January, it's safe to say from these transfers Coombes is definately building for the future.

In a game that Fiorentina controlled from start to finish it took the two subs too finally break the deadlock, however the result was never in doubt with Fiorentina striking at goal 16 times and getting 11 of these on target, with Empoli managing 3 strikes all game and getting 2 on target, this result was very pleasing for the fans of the Viola as they get one other on there rivals, earning Coombes the endearment of the fans for a short while, but only time will tell if this is the story of things to come.
