He explained that he was from Rochdale Football Club - the team Daniel supports coincidentally, and asked if there was a place they could talk in private. The Lancashire coach showed the man into his office where his signed, framed Dale shirt was hanging up on the wall and his trophy cabinet stood gleaming and half-full. "So, what brings you here then?" Daniel asked. "Well, i'm here on behalf of Chris Dunphy, who i'm sure you know is the Rochdale chairman. He is interested in you becoming our new manager." he replied. "Are you serious?" "Football is a serious business Mr.Worrall, there are many other candidates if you aren't interested." "Wait! Sorry for my rudeness, ofcourse i'd be interested in the job." Worrall shouted apologetically. "You can have 700 pounds a week and a 75k signing on fee." The man took a piece of paper from his pocket and unfolded it carefully. "Sign the dotted lines please" he said excitedly. Daniel took a pen from his pocket and signed the paper quickly. "Welcome to Rochdale!" With that, the new Rochdale boss stood up and handed the papers back to the amply proportioned midget. Finally, Daniel got into his car and drove home. By this time it was getting late so he rung his close friends and family and began scouting for players on the internet and Football Manager. He told Daniel to meet him at Rochdale's training ground next door to Spotland; Dale's stadium. The new Rochdale manager picked himself up from his bed and got changed into his Rochdale tracksuit top with his initials on them (he bought them before he joined the club) and a pair of jeans. It took Daniel about 10 minutes to get to the training ground as he already lived fairly close by. He walked into the building and was greeted by the receptionist. "You must be Mr. Worrall, Chris said to go straight to your office. Dale's Training Ground Daniel found his office and his name was already engraved up on the door. Inside, there was a desk with a computer and a laptop in the middle of the room. A bookcase with several books on the history of Rochdale FC, a window overlooking the training pitch and a set of drawers. He opened the top drawer, it was full of training clothes and other essentials. The next drawer had a huge folder with a report on every single player at the club. The final drawer had a set of keys to everything at the club and a list of players John Douglas, my scout, thinks he should take a look at. On the laptop, there was videos of every first team player in action and in the desk drawer there was a Football Manager disk, this chairman has good taste. Because it was a Sunday, the players had the day off which gave Daniel Worrall a bit of time to get used to his new surroundings and prepare his first training session. | | | | 23-05-08, 07:08 PM | #5 (permalink) | | For Then Those Evil Eyes; They Have No Place In Paradise! That's the way I think about it now: it's only a game. 'Educate the kids to integrate with one another and not pay any attention to who's a Catholic and who's a Protestant, and any of that rubbish. 'Just go out there, support your team, make good friends and get on with your lives.
