Jimmy turned up the next day at around noon and after another typical pre-season training session which involved mainly fitness to get rid of some of the ice cream my new players had been eating, i took my staff to my office along with Jimmy, Andy Reid and Matt Holland who i had decided too name as my captain and vice-captain. We discussed what normally happens at Everton, during pre-season and how they do fitness for the first 2-3 weeks off being back and then they start too work with a ball and later on start too work on set-piece's and tactics. Jimmy said that he would be willing too stay as long as David said he could too lend me a helping hand. He suggested that we ask players if they know any useful coaches, youth coaches or scouts that would be willing too come too Charlton. Andy Reid said he could get a fellow called "Michael Turnock" too come down, he was a scout with a high reputation in the Championship and was currently with Nott's Forest. So i had another scout on my books. Also Matt Holland said his brother who was with Middlesborough would be willing too come if he was given the same wages as he was currently on, so i now had a new scout and a new coach. Things we're looking on the up for me. | Its A Grand Old Team To Play For, Its A Grand Old Team To Support | | | 08-05-08, 10:18 PM | #24 (permalink) | | Hot Prospect Join Date: May 2008 Location: Liverpool Posts: 67 Thanks: 17 Thanked 4 Times in 4 Posts | decent start dat lad hu r u gonna sign tho | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to CoNoR lOnG For This Useful Post: | | 09-05-08, 08:17 PM | #25 (permalink) | | Scout For FMF's DB Update Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Liverpool Posts: 379 Thanks: 15 Thanked 70 Times in 69 Posts | lmaooo noxy a scout...the only thing he scouts for is men :P nice story phil | Cheers Ru | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to aarontheblue For This Useful Post: | | 10-05-08, 08:50 PM | #26 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Liverpool Posts: 212 Thanks: 31 Thanked 34 Times in 34 Posts | Chairman Interupts. Derek hadnt spoke too me since that first day of the training ground visit. He turned up at training on the 27th July, i just assumed for a normal check-up. He came over too me and asked if he could speak to the three of us in my office. I told Jimmy and Aaron to warm the players up. When we got into our office we sat around the circle table in my office, he gave us a list with the names : Defoe, Almunia and Jaap Stam. I asked why he had handed us these players on a sheet. He replied, these are the player's you will be signing. I was shocked and so we're Matt and Jay. I told him that i thought i would be allowed too control the club and buy the players I wanted too bring too the club. He replied "You are, but i want these 3 for definate. After this he left and this had upset the three of us, that he was not letting us control the club, i saw him as interfeering. I was not happy. | | | | | 10-05-08, 11:43 PM | #27 (permalink) | | Come on you Whites!!! I rang Derek when i got home and asked him when we would be putting offers in for Jermaine Defoe. He said that it would be within the next week. Demands. The next day, Luke Young came into my office and told me that he was not enjoying life here at Charlton anymore, and asked if i would ask any clubs if they we're intrested. I was shocked by this but agreed that we didn't want any players at the club who didn't want too be here. So Derek had left me the numbers of Premiership managers and I gave most of them a call. Alan Pardew of West Ham was intrested. He wanted Luke on a year loan, not permanent at this time. I asked Luke and he said i'll see what they have too offer. Trouble. After training I stayed at the ground and Derek turned up and was not happy. He told me that if I wanted too sell player's behind his back then I was not going too be here much longer. Again I wasn't convinced that I was being allowed too run the club. Crack's we're being formed in the Manager - Chairman relationship already. However, i did have my first game in charge too look forward too in 3 days time against Mk Dons. So their was a plus. | Its A Grand Old Team To Play For, Its A Grand Old Team To Support | | | 11-05-08, 10:24 PM | #30 (permalink) | | An FMF Silver Surfer and V.I.P Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Ballycastle,Northern Ireland Posts: 574 Thanks: 177 Thanked 118 Times in 114 Posts | very good m8 i like it | !!!!! Tottenham came back the following day saying that Jermaine Defoe would be available for around £4million. So Derek put an offer in and Jermaine was meant too travel up for contract talks. Mk Don's My first game in charge. Away too Mk Don's. Predicted an easy win. I picked my team 4-4-2. Weaver Young Fortune Bourregha Thatcher Varney Holland Reid Ambrose Todorov D.Bent Obviously Young was suprised at being picked but what other options did i have? Thoughts. As i looked at my team, i realised i needed a new Right-back, Right Winger, Centre Mid And Left Mid. Defoe was a must as we lacked a proven goalscorer. Kick Off. I told my team too go out and enjoy the run around. I gave them the freedom too go out and be creative and too keep the ball and pass it around. After 15minutes we we're dominating and Andy Reid had a long distance shot that just flew wide. 30' in and Darren Bent ran from half way too lay in Todorov 1-0. Mk Don's reacted well though and earned a few corners in succesion. We could handle them. Half Time soon came and at 1-0 we we're looking comfortable. I told them too keep playing their football and challenge for every ball and keep things tight for the first 15 of the second half. 67' minutes in and Andy Reid whips in a beautiful front post corner which is won by Fortune and rifles into the back of the net We Won the game 2-0 and a good perfomance all around. I couldn't wait for training the next day. We travelled home with everyone upbeat. | Its A Grand Old Team To Play For, Its A Grand Old Team To Support | | | 13-05-08, 06:42 PM | #36 (permalink) | | Hot Prospect Join Date: May 2008 Location: Liverpool Posts: 67 Thanks: 17 Thanked 4 Times in 4 Posts | Good Result Keep On Posting Great Story | | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to CoNoR lOnG For This Useful Post: | | 14-05-08, 10:45 PM | #37 (permalink) | | Touted as the next Ali Dia Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Norwich (Born and bred in Liverpool though) Posts: 1,834 Thanks: 523 Thanked 379 Times in 357 Posts | 2-0. Not bad. No doubt that the fans weren't happy with only a 2-0 win against a lower league side. Anyway, good luck with your future signings mate. | | | | 14-05-08, 10:59 PM | #38 (permalink) | | Backup To The First Team Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Liverpool Posts: 212 Thanks: 31 Thanked 34 Times in 34 Posts | My Demands. Transfers. I told West Ham, that if they wanted Luke Young on loan they would have too give me £1million. Suprisingly they agreed too this. So i now had £8.5million too spend on Transfers. £4millon going on the Defoe transfer. I was happy at the moment with my goalkeeper and he had another year at least. I needed a right back too replace Young, a centre half and a right winger. Jaap Stam was available for Loan until January and then i had the option too buy him for 500K. So i took Stam on. I was convinced i needed quality right wing. I looked at Zoltan Gera, he seemed too fit the bill for a bargain price of £2million I snapped him up. Games. Over a period of 3 weeks i had planned too take my team on a tour of Spain, but this was cancelled because of the hefty costs and little profits we would gain. I rang round a few championship clubs and Leeds gave us a game which ended 3-1 with D.Bent (2) and A.Reid. Next was Stoke who i won comprehensively against 4-0 with a Todorov double, Varney and a superb D.Ambrose free kick. Finally i managed to convince Valencia too come over for a game and they beat us 2-1 but that was mainly about the gates income we received for a big European team. My Team. I now planned too play... Weaver Rb ( not sure) Fortune Bouraghea Thatcher Varney Holland Reid Ambrose Defoe D.Bent Two weeks until the start of the season. Transfers. I asked Everton too loan me Richard Wright as back up and i managed too convince Phil Neville too come down south from Man Utd for just £1.5million. | Its A Grand Old Team To Play For, Its A Grand Old Team To Support | | | 14-05-08, 11:31 PM | #39 (permalink) | | Co-founder of the cult Ruism Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Dundalk, Ireland Posts: 2,366 Thanks: 195 Thanked 309 Times in 249 Posts | couple of decent results there mate, nice signing to mate in phil neville | Current Game SV Red Bull Salzburg Austrian Bundesliga Champions 2007/2008 Austrian Super Cup Winners 2008 Hang on I better say "Red Bull, it gives you wings" or ill be sacked | | | 15-05-08, 04:06 PM | #40 (permalink) | | Hot Prospect Join Date: May 2008 Location: Liverpool Posts: 67 Thanks: 17 Thanked 4 Times in 4 Posts | decent team that lad bent + defoe shud get u a lot of goals | | | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | | |
