Another beautiful morning, in Northern Cornwall and i was taking my chocolate labrador Max for a walk in the country side. I was thinking of how things could have been differant if i didn't mess around with the lads in training. After pretending to crunch one of my team mates he did it back but got it all wrong. He broke my leg and that was my playing career over. I was told i had a bright future and i was only 19 at the time... Things could have been so differant but it wasn't to be. Since then ive had a job in painting and decorating and it just wasn't my thing, ive had a job coaching the Newquay U18's and that all really. That job ended after the club went bankrupt now i am stuck with nothing. I got back to my lovely cottage and soon as i opened the door my gorgeous wife Isabel was leaving for work, i kissed her goodbye and went to the computer. I looked up clubs that needed coaches and appied at a few clubs the most noticable Real Sociedad... My lovely home Last edited by ryanthagunner; 22-04-08 at 06:39 PM. | Thanks for the Signature Mr Seth Current Game Swansea City Manager - 2007-Present | | | 21-04-08, 02:27 PM | #2 (permalink) | | Used In Squad Rotation Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Houghton-Le-Spring, Sunderland Posts: 277 Thanks: 117 Thanked 28 Times in 28 Posts | nice read love to see more | | | | | 21-04-08, 02:38 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Touted as a new David Ginola: Im an FMF'er, Not a movie star Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: wiltshire Posts: 1,657 Thanks: 226 Thanked 369 Times in 347 Posts | Good start there ryan, interesting to see how this one shapes up. I was hoping Arsenal would sign Fernado Torres but after Arsene saying he didn't want him the chances of us signing him were very slim. It looked as if we was gonna be buying some Eduardo player i hadn't heard of before. An hour had passed Isabel had left for work and there had been no big transfer news just Henry being linked with Barcelona again. I new it wouldnt happen though, he loves us and i couldn't see him going anywhere soon. Just as i had had enough of SSN i turned over to Real Madrid TV and my mobile rung... I glanced at the number... It didnt look familar and im sure it wasn't a local number. But i had better answer anyway. So i answered... "Hello" "Hello is this Ryan Pidd?" "Yes it is, how can i help you?" "Well my name is Pete Winkleman, i am the chairman of Milton Keynes Dons, i would like to meet up to discuss a coaching job." I was stunned MK Dons... Paul Ince had just joined as manager a few days ago! And England legend! "Yes, i would love to meet up." "Okay, meet me at the Caffe Caldesi in London near the stadium:mk tomorow at 5.30am." "Ok i'll see you then." The phone went dead. The chance to coach a league 2 team. Could i have a career in football afterall? I would find out tomorow... The place my future could be made up. I told Isabel that i was going to MK Dons to meet over a vacancy coaching job and if i were to get a job there we could possibly have to move from our beautiful cottage. She didn't take the news too well. We decided we would discuss it if anything were to happen after all it was just a meeting? So i travelled to London in my Seat Ibiza. It took me a few hours to find the cafe but with a trusty TomTom Go you can never get lost. I walked into the cafe and sat down on a table. I was sitting for a few moments, when i say some i reconised of the TV walked through the door it was Pete Winkleman the chairman of MK Dons. The man i was here to meet. He must have reconised me because he walked over to where i was sitting, shook my hand and introduced himself. We spoke for sometime about League 2, MK Dons, the way i managed teams, the way i liked to get my teams playing football and the qualifications i had. Then as i finished a sentance on playing direct football he pulled out a contract. I read it slowly... The job was MK Dons assistant manager, £1,500 a week pay. This was great. I thought for a few seconds then i agreed and signed the contract... Wow, i could make history with MK Dons! This could lead me to living my dream, becoming a manager! My career in football had started.. My Seat Ibiza. She told me your pizza's in the oven whilst eating her own pizza, ive told her before it rude to speak with your mouth full no manners in this world anymore! So i got my pizza out of the oven, got myself a can of Strongbow and went and sat with her. I told her the great news of becoming MK Dons assitant manager and that i would be working with the great Paul Ince. She didnt have a clue who he was and still wasnt very happy about leaving her homely cottage. So i told her about the job and how much i wouldbe paid and she soon changed her mind. I had the job and my girlfriend what could be better? 2 weeks passed... We had moved to our new flat in London and got a new car. Today my first day working with the MK Dons team and the legend Paul Ince himself. I turned up at the stadium:mk, i was 15 minutes early i wanted to make a good impression to Pete and Paul if they were there, well they were and waiting for me already. So leaving early didn't really help me? I met with Paul and Pete and we had a chat about the future of the club, how he wnated to get the MK Dons playing football. I listened carefully and agreed to everything Paul said he had some great ideas for the future and i could help him. After the chat i went out to meet the lads and take my first coaching session. I was very nervous these were pro's, i had never trained above youth and amatuers before. stadium:mk I walked out onto the pitch at stadium:mk and within moments the team gathered around the kick-off spot. I got the lads playing a 9 a-side game to see who was good at what, i noticed Jemal Johnson a former Wolves player impress, he had great speed and a good eye for goal. After the 9 a-side i got the lads playing some passing, shooting and tackling games. I think they enjoyed them selfs, some of the i could tell were unfit from the holidays but i would soon be changing that. They thanked me for the session after, i was pelased with the lads and told them so. So that was today finished my first session over and done with, surely things would only get easier? 2 more weeks had passed and it was a tuesday morning, i turned Skys Sports News on. BREAKING NEWS - Southampton confirm they offer job to Paul Ince. He had only been in charge a few months. Surely not...
