So it begins... As I stepped onto the hallowed turf of The Ricoh Arena I felt the fresh Coventry breeze brush my face. This was it – I was managing a big club. It was something of a shock at my appointment as manager here but my record spoke for itself. I had managed Vauxhall Motors, Northwich Victoria and Chester City on my way here, it may not sound too good but I took Vauxhalls to the Conference North, which is now the Blue Square North. I took Northwich to the Blue Square Premier with 2 succesive promotions. I also got Chester into the League. I exited the stadium to be greeted by many fairly urined off fans. They more than expressed their anger at me being appointed but I just took it on the chin and got into my car. I received a call from Geoffrey Robinson the Coventry chairman to tell me to come back to The Ricoh Arena for the press conference announcing my arrival as gaffer. I arrived back at the stadium to see lots of reporters from Setanta Sports, Coventry City FC TV and Sky Sports News. I entered the room where it would take place and Geoffrey was already sitting there waiting for me. I took my seat and took a sip from the glass of water in front of me.... The questions began to fly in... Key: Reporter: Orange Wozza: Blue Bob Marley, Daily Mail. First of all Daniel, welcome to the Ricoh Arena, how does it feel to be managing such a large club like Coventry? Absolutely amazing, these are the sort of things as a non-league manager, that you dream of. Managing a club in the top couple of leagues. My first impressions of the club are great and Geoffrey has helped me by showing me around the facilities. The fans understandably aren't happy. What are you going to do about this? I'm just going to get on with my job as i normally would, hopefully if results go our way the fans will begin to like me. Harry Widge, The Sun. Realistically, what do you think you can achieve this season? This league is so open, promotion is a possibility, relegation is a possiblity. Anything can happen - i love this league. Fair enough, what has Geoffrey given you to spend on new players and who do you have in mind? I havn't spoken to Geoff yet regarding the transfer and wage budget but we will be soon. There isn't many improvements i see that need making at the moment though. John Gould, Sky Sports. How about your backroom staff? Will there be any changes made to that? I doubt it, i may bring a scout or a coach in or something but everybody's job is safe at this moment in time. Ok Daniel, thanks for talking to us. Good luck here at coventry and i hope to speak to you again soon. I'm glad i got through that unscathed... That's a coincidence if there really is a reporter named that. Also, I have to agree with Fed. Probably not the best choice of colour for the fonts but a brilliant interview none the less. I opened the top draw and it contained the keys to everything in the training ground and a little note stuck on it – “From Ru.” It said. It took me 30 seconds or so to open the 2nd drawer and when I eventually managed to open it up it contained a considerable amount of paper. Every coach and scout at the club had compiled a report on every single player at the club. Even Ru had written 1 or 2, he wants to be a coach so badly. After I had looked through a few of them, my Chairman, Geoffrey Robinson walked in to discuss the transfer budget. I could see in his eyes that it wasn’t going to be good. He eventually told me that I have nothing to spend in this window because of his gambling debts. Once he gets his feet on the ground he will give me a bit to spend, I wasn’t happy about this but what can I do? Geoffrey Robinson - Gambling Additction.. 10 minutes after that asshole Geoffrey left, my staff arrived. All 9 of them – from my Assistant Manager to my Fitness Coach. They explained that they knew Geoff had given me nothing to spend and that they had done some scouting and ringing around and compiled a list of players that would probably be available to sign for nothing or to loan, which was the case for most of them. I thanked them all individually and reminded them that there jobs were safe for the time being. When they had gone I looked at the list of players, there were 30 names on it. Players like Carlton Cole and Steve Sidwell… | | | | 14-04-08, 07:55 PM | #15 (permalink) | | Important First Team Player Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Evesham ,UK Posts: 725 Thanks: 235 Thanked 120 Times in 106 Posts | good luck m8 hope it turns out right for u | Big Thanks to Ru for a top sig cheers mate | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to adamjigey For This Useful Post: | | 14-04-08, 09:59 PM | #16 (permalink) | | FMF Writer/FMF Mod lollol:P Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Dundalk, Ireland Posts: 2,436 Thanks: 197 Thanked 332 Times in 269 Posts | lmfao, wozza dont let the chairman hear ya call him that, yiou could be out of the job before it even gets going hahaha | Current Game SV Red Bull Salzburg Austrian Bundesliga Champions 2007/2008 Austrian Super Cup Winners 2008 Hang on I better say "Red Bull, it gives you wings" or ill be sacked | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to John10 For This Useful Post: | | 15-04-08, 11:01 AM | #17 (permalink) | | FMF's Toon Army Spiderman and member of the Writers Crew Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: wiltshire Posts: 1,829 Thanks: 235 Thanked 432 Times in 410 Posts | Yeah if you're going to insult him do it properly ie: You Stupid immature foolish idiotic gambling addicted how-the-hell-did-I-get-suckered-into-this-thanks-alot-you total a55hole! would have been better.
