Finally the time came around that we were allowed to see Emma. Walking up the steps to the intensive care unit was a slow and agonising procedure.

When we finally reached her, my pounding heart dropped suddenly. There she was, looking battered and bruised, with tubes hanging out of her. A horrific sight for anyone that loved her to see. Even Dad cringed.
I looked down at her leg. I looked awful.
"What the hell happened to her leg?" I asked with a slight shrill to my voice.
"She'd managed to trap her leg under the seat when the plane crashed and it broke. We had to manipulate it back into place." The nurse said.
Manipulate it? I thought to myself. In other words they had to snap it back into place.

I sat with her the whole day until my phone went off. It was Trevor. I left the hospital and phoned him back.
"What's up?" I asked as Trevor answered the phone.
"I just wanted to keep you up to date with what happened in our game against Dundalk."
"What happened then?"
"We won 6-1. Fernandez got four!"
"That's good."
"Aren't you pleased Boss?"

I suddenly felt a huge rush of anger overpower me. "Have you forgotten where the hell I am?! I'm at the hospital in which my wife is laying unconcious in a damn hospital bed! Now you tell me should I be happy that my club just put 6 past a crappy little team from a league lower than us?" Dad must've heard me, he came running over and snatched the phone off of me. He apologised to Trevor and told him I'd phone him later.
I stole the cigarette Dad was smoking out of his hand and took a long drag as he sat next to me.
"I'm gonna quit Dad." I said, still smoking his cigarette.
"I didn't raise you to quit son. Hell, I've never seen you quit. I remember when you were 17 and you broke your ribs, you still played on for 70 minutes. Plus when you broke your ankle, you still tried to play for an extra 10 minutes until you realised the pain was too much! Why now? Sure, Emma's in hospital but you can't do anything about that. The only thing you can do is go back to Ireland and win every Goddamn trophy available to you for her and make sure she wakes up to the conquerer of Ireland!"
I finally broke into a smile. "Quite an impressive speech there old man." I said with a slight laugh. "But you are right. Tomorrow I go back to Ireland and back to Dublin where I will mean business.
I went back up to Emma's room, gave her a kiss and said goodbye before leaving for home to get some kip before I got on the first flight back to Dublin.

When I finally arrived back in Dublin, the players all gave me their sympathies, even Alex had managed to learn I'm sorry in English.
When training came around I called Trevor into my office.
"First thing's first. I'm sorry that I went off on one with you yesterday." I said as he sat down. "Now that's out of the way. Here is a list of players I want for this team." I handed him the list of players that I wanted him to sign.

Luke McCormick, 23 - Plymouth goalkeeper.
Steven Canning, 23 - Queens Park winger.
Ross McCormack, 20 - Motherwell winger.
Tristan Plumber, 17 - Bristol City stirker.
Michael Coulson, 18 - Barnsley striker.

"You shouldn't have any problems getting them. I've already cleared some of the funds with the board and there's a few players there that will be allowed to leave for free. I'm counting on you Trevor."
Trevor smiled, nodded and left the room. He seemed excited at the prospect of a fresh challenge for the title. It was gonna happen. I could feel it.

Cool, I'm sure there's a few more Pat's fans on this site.

I'll be updating this thread tomorrow hopefully when I get a chance to play some more of it.

The following few days before our opening game against Drogheda United went by without much to talk about.
I went back to England to see how Emma was getting on. Unfortunately there was no change, not that I expected any to be honest.
I also announced that Stephen Brennan was to keep the captain's armband during my stay as gaffer. Two days before I was due to lead my team out in our first match, I got word from one of my feelers saying that Steven Canning had chosen Dumbarton over us. Fine then. If he doesn't want to be part of history that's his problem. Some good news did actually come out of my transfer targets. Tristan Plumber, the 17 year old lad from Bristol City had agreed terms and was on his way to Dublin and would be here in time to play against Drogheda. He was followed by Luke McCormack, my new goalkeeper.
When Luke reported in, I realised that my squad was slightly too large and I didn't plan on using a 'Rafa' rotation system. So I placed Brendan Clarke, David Partidge, Bobby Ryan, Paul Murphy, Keith Fahey and Glen Fitzpatrick on the transfer list. Ryan was the most annoyed by it as he'd only just arrived. When he found out, he came bursting through my door.
"What the hell are you playing at?" He screamed at me. "Who do you think you are? I was brought here to take St. Pat's forward by Mr. McDonald. You have no right to put me up for sale."
"Actually I do." I said calmly. "Mr. O'Callaghan has given me full responsibilities of a manager at this club and that includes the buying and selling of players that I deem not good enough." I paused for a moment to read his expression. A nasty look flashed on his face. He knew what was coming. "And I'm afraid, you are one of the few players I deem not good enough. Sorry." I then changed my expression to a 'I'm the boss' expression. "Now, don't you ever challenge my decisions again!" With that I gestured for him to leave my office and he didn't hang around.

The day finally came around for my first competitive match in charge of St. Pat's Athletic. An All Ireland Cup group game against Drogheda at United Park. I just wish Emma could've seen me. I was getting John to record the match anyway so she could watch it when she woke up.

My first team I picked for this important match was,
L. McCormack, S. Brennan, D. Rogers, J. O'Cearuill, S. Paisley, R. Guy, M. Keane, J. Ndo, G. Dempsey, A. Fernandez & M. Quigley. My substitute's bench consisted of B. Ryan, A. Kirby, D. Byrne, T. Plummer, J. Harris, D. Lynch & G. O'Neill.

Drogheda United 2, St. Patrick's Atheltic 0.

The team put in a tremendous shift for me and worked their socks off but it wasn't enough. Fernandez and Quigley were denied time and again by Vilmunen in the opposite goal and McCormack had a shocker of a debut. It was a shame as we had as much of the game as the Drogs. Lady luck had smiled on Drogheda, leaving me to pick up my team. I turned to them and said that they were extremely unlucky not to have got anything out of that game. After the lads got dressed and got on the team bus, I sat on one of the benches in the dressing room and put my head in my hands. Have I dug myself into too much of a hole by taking this job. Am I going to mess up John McDonald's hard work? I thought to myself...

As some of you may know, I had a problem with my PC yesterday and I lost all of my stuff on my hard drive. Now that included this save game so I can't continue.
