Hello, my name is John. I just become a coach. I was 32 years old when I got my coaching diploma. And since then I tried to find a team to coach. During my holiday in Portugal I found a club. I had read they were looking for a new manager and I went over there to applied for the job en 2 weeks later I signed a contract. My contract ends is 2009 my job is to make name for the club in the competition. Wich club is it you ask? Well I’ll tell you. I’m the new coach of Futebol Club Pacos de Ferreira. Prediction for the 1st season are to end at least with the first 9. We also play Uefa Cup. In the UC I want to make it to the Group round and from there on we shall see where it ends. They gave me a transfer budget of 375.000 euro. With 80-1 in title odd the bookmakers don’t believe we can win the title. They said we at least end in high mid table. As for new players I’m not sure at what position I need them my assistant if keen on the team we have now. And if I want new players I’m sure I have to get them for free or hire them from a club.

The club then changed the kit colours to the current ones and renamed themselves F. C. Paços de Ferreira.
Their beginnings with current denomination was on November 19 of 1950 where they beat Lousada 2-1. Agostinho Alves was the first goal scorer in the history of the Pacenses. The club then played in Portugal's third regional division until the 1956-57 season, where they were crowned champions. The club crest was then created in 1961-62, and has been used ever since.
The club was relegated and then promoted again and supporters hit the streets of the city on June 17 of 1973 when they defeated Perosinho 3-0. One year later they conquered the third division championship, on June 14, 1974, when they defeated Estrela de Portalegre. The hero of the game was goalscorer Mascarenhas.
In the 2006-07 season the northern club finished an impressive 6th place and qualified for the UEFA Cup, its first ever European competition, led by coach José Mota after impressive wins against Sporting Clube de Portugal and ties with SL Benfica and FC Porto. They were ousted after a good fight, losing 0-1 on aggregate to AZ Alkmaar

Today is the first day of my life as a football coach. i decided to go early to work today, just to see what kind of club it is and off course to arrange some friendly’s. Just because it was my 1st club ever I had in mind of playing some major teams butt unfortunately they didn’t want to play against us. So I only had 4 friendly’s this season. Our first match is on 23-07-07 against our under 19 squad. The second match is also against our under 19 squad. Our third match is on 10-08-07 against amateur team Anadia and our last match is against Castrense. So far our pre-season. Then I wanted to see how our squad was witch players did we have and on what position they played. So I had to send my only scout on a trip thru Portugal to see if there are players that are good enough to join us.
After sending my scout on his way I looked at our technical staff and saw that we didn’t have enough staff to work with so I decided to look around for new staff. At the end of the day I went home to get some rest because in only 3 days we will have our first match. When I got home I had mail. i opened my mail and saw this.

First of all call me John. And about our goal this season I can say the following. I want to make it to the group stage of the Uefa Cup and get as far as we can in both cups. And last but not least I want to make it with the 1st 9 in the league. Next question.

Hello John my name is Manuel from A Bola Futebol. Do you have any intension of getting new players for your squad?

Well Manuel I’m not sure yet maybe 1 or 2 new players butt the main goal on the transfer market is to get more staff members. Because I think we have a good and solid team here.

We are only 1 week away from our first pre season match. I thought it was time to fly back to Holland and see my family again. Possibly I have the change of visiting some clubs in Holland and might find a player or 2. So I booked a early flight back home. When I arrived at Schiphol my mom was waiting for me to take me home. When we got home my entire family was waiting for me to congratulate me on my new job. So the first day home is almost over I got online to check out the program of a few clubs in Holland and saw that Feyenoord where nearby this week to play a friendly. So I decided to go to that match. The few day following I decided to play football with my little brother. Everything went well until one night when I turned on the TV. I was watching some American show and saw this women and I was in love. During the show I got a hold of her name after the show I got online to find out what I could find of here. After a few hours of searching I know she lived in Miami. Will I ever meet here in person or with It stay with the dreams I have from now on. When I got up my mom had already made me some breakfast. Later that morning I went to the Feyenoord game to check out some players. Feyenoord won the game. I had a list of players that I was interested in. The last day I was in Holland we went out to dinner with the whole family. At the end of the night I could only think of that girl I saw on tv. Will I ever meet here I hope so. The next day I went back to Portugal to give the list to my people. I will have them find out who was interested in joining us. Would was on my list? You never know. Will there be a 1st signing for coach John Bakker you soon find out.
