Luigi De Canio Sacked
In what can be only described as a major shock, recently appoint QPR manager Luigi De Canio has parted ways with QPR just weeks after being appointed. Luigi, who has had his stints with Napoli, Siena and Udinese in the past didn't comment to the press at all and is said to be on his way back to Italy at this very minute. Flavio Briatore was the man to come out and speak with the media. He said, "It's a shame about Luigi and what has happened here. We are pushing for big things here and Luigi was the man to provide that. It was the best for all people, Luigi didn't get the lifestyle and struggled to adapt which led to his departure. We have drawn up a little shortlist of replacements and can confirm it will be a British citizen"

Discussions ongoing about a replacement

Odds on the next QPR manager
Peter Reid 7/4
Steve Staunton 3/1
David O'Leary 4/1
Steve McMahon 6/1
Dennis Wise 20/1
Sam Allardyce 25/1

A Ladbrokes spokesman said, "Peter Reid seems to of emerged as a clear favourite for the job. He's been out of football for a little while and with everything in place at QPR it could be the perfect time to make a return".

Breaking News

11/07/2007
QPR Announce An Unknown.
Championship side Queens Park Rangers have announced unknown rookie Lee Pike as manager. Pike will take charge of the first team affairs with immediate effect following the mutual release of Luigi De Canio. This will be Pike's first managerial job and the pressure will certainly be on considering the funds and the ambition of the current owners. Pike was said to be a hardcore Leeds fan back in his day and would do anything possible to help his team. The only concern to people is that how Pike will react under pressure, he was a party animal many moons ago and must change his ways to a more professional manner. Many fans are disappointed with the decision although many are glad Peter Reid wasn't installed.

In His Youth

QPR Recall Walton and Transfer List 5.
It only took Lee Pike a couple of days before setting out his stalls and his first piece of business was recalling Simon Walton from Hull. Simon was brought up through the youth setup at Leeds United before moving to Charlton.

"I'm a huge admirer of Simon Walton, he can break up play and setup attacks. He's also very young and can play an important part in the future of QPR." Pike said.

Matthew Connally, Zesh rehman, Gareth Ainsworth, Dexter Blackstock and Patrick Agyemang are all transfer listed. With only 3 strikers in the first team the listings of Agyemang and Blackstock must signal his intent to go out and purchase a forward or two. Although Pike has suggested players will not be sold unless a replacement has been bought.

"We don't have the biggest squad at the minute which is slightly worrying but we're building it up bit by bit and hopefully there will be a few people arriving in very soon with the odd few moving on. I definately hope to bring in a striker possibly on loan but there are a few negotiations happening as we speak now".

Started at Leeds

Pre-Season Roundup
It wasn't the best results for QPR in terms of results who only managed the one win out of five which was a 2-0 success over Stevenage. The result that stands out the most is a creditable home draw with Premiership side Bolton

Friendly Results
QPR 1-1 Bolton || Rowan Vine
Stevenage 0-2 QPR || Akos Buzsaky, Hogan Ephraim
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic 2-2 QPR || Akos Buzsaky, Dong Fangzhuo
Finn Harps 0-0 QPR
Peterborough 2-2 QPR || Akos Buzsaky (2)

---------------------------------------------------------------

Team Analysis
Goalkeeper - Lee Camp looks set to be the number 1 keeper for this season. The former England U21 international will be hoping to produce the goods for his team in what could be a huge season.
Defenders - A huge choice to choose from but the stand out defenders looks to be Michael Mancienne, Martin Albretchsen and Fitz Hall. Albretchsen is versatile which means Hall and Mancienne will likely to partner each other at centre half more often than not. Kerrea Gilbert also has experience at this level and has a role to play.
Midfielders - Akos Buzsaky was the standout performer of pre-season and will be pivotal if we are to do anything this season. He's good at set pieces and knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. Nacer Barazite will be a bit part player to start with just to blend him in, his creativity and passing could become very useful in unlocking the opposition.
Strikers - Huge fight for places in this area. Victor Anichebe has been promised a fair share of games this season. Can Jermaine Beckford step up to the plate this season while Rowan Vine and Dong Fangzhuo might have to scrap it out for the bench duties.

Camp's the number 1

QPR draw Bournemouth
In what was an uneventful Carling cup 1st round draw QPR have a slightly tricky away game to League 1 side Bournemouth. Pike will pit his wits against Kevin Bond for a place in the 2nd round. The tie of the round is the Yorkshire derby between Leeds and Huddersfield at Elland Road.

Before joining Bournemouth
Quote:
Saturday 11th August 2007 - Championship Match 1
Queens Park Rangers 1-0 Preston North End
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Lee, Hall, Mancienne (Star man), Mahon, Murphy, Leigertwood, Barazite, Anichebe, Buszaky (c).
Goalscorers: Michael Mancienne (12)
Attendance: 14,795
Opinions: Definately worth a win on the opening day but was always nervy with just the 1 goal lead going in to the last 15 mins. They pushed hard at the end and nailed the bar thanks to Neil Mellor. With only Anichebe up front he didn't look sharp enough and I might consider dropping him next week in favour of Beckford. Young Barazite gave a solid game in the middle dictating play next to MAhon who held back slightly giving Nacer space to open up Preston. Overall it's pleasing to get 3 points.

The scorer
Wednesday 15th August - Carling Cup 1st Round Match
AFC Bournemouth 1-2 Queens Park Rangers
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Lee, Albrechtsen, Mancienne, Buszaky, Murphy (Mahon 56), Leigertwood, Ambrose, Vine (Fangzhuo 45), Bolder (c)
Goalscorers: Michael Mancienne (34), Rowan Vine (36)
Attendance: 8544
Opinions: A tough game, much tougher than Preston. A Mancienne OG brought them back in to the game and looked dangerous coming forward. Just like to thank Camp for bringing out a string of saves in the second half to keep Bournemouth at bay. Decided to go with Vine alone up front and scored a terrific goal from outside the area just placing it in the bottom corner and Mancienne doubled his goal tally with a well taken header from a Buszaky corner.

Scored the second for QPR

Other 1st round results
Leeds 2-1 Huddersfield
Hull 1-0 Bury
Gillingham 2-1 West Brom
Luton 4-0 Peterborough
Southampton p 1-1 Brighton
MK Dons 0-1 Cardiff AET
Bradford 0-3 Burnley

Quote:
Saturday 18th August 2007 - Championship Match 2
Leicester City 0-3 Queens Park Rangers
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Lee (Hall 10), Mancienne, Albrechtsen, Mahon, Murphy, Leigertwood, Barazite, Anichebe, Buszaky (c)
Goalscorers: Victor Anichebe 13, 63, 82
Attendance: 24,791
Opinions: Toughest game so far by a long way and to come through such clear winners can only be a good thing. Resting Anichebe for the cup game paid dividends in the end netting a thoroughly deserved hatrick. He gave the ageing N'Gotty the run around from the word go with his running on the angles and his physical presence brushing off N'Gotty time and time again. Leicester did have a few good chances but they just didn't take them Howard having the pick of them with a free header at the far post rattling the cross bar. Another win though and more importantly another clean sheet.

Carling Cup 2nd Round Draw
QPR have been handed a tricky game away to Championship rivals Crystal Palace on Wednesday 29th August. After getting hammered by Hull 5-1 on the opening game of the season, Palace have racked up 3 clean sheets with 2 wins in the process of that. So it's defence against defence, who will come unstuck? The game of the round definately has to be at St. James Park with Newcastle hosting fallen giants Nottm Forest. Forest who are stuck in the 3rd tier of English football are up there with the biggest clubs outside the top flight and will definately give Newcastle a test. Leeds have been awarded another Yorkshire derby at home to Sheff Utd in what promises to be a cracker.

Other Matches
Northampton vs. Man City
Scunthorpe vs. Portsmouth
Birmingham vs. Doncaster
Barnsley vs. Middlesbrough
Gillingham vs. West Ham
Aston Villa vs. Bristol Rovers

Quote:
Saturday 25th August 2007 - Championship Match 3
Queens Park Rangers 3-0 Colchester Utd
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Albrechtsen, Mancienne, Hall, Mahon, Murphy, Leigertwood (Buszaky 66), Barazite, Beckford (*), Bolder (c)
Goalscorers: Jermaine Beckford 9, 50, 64
Attendance: 15,743
Opinions: Dropping Anichebe after last weeks heroics was a major gamble which didn't set down well with the fans but the goals from Beckford soon silenced the doubters. 3 well taken goals from Jermaine was a joy to watch. His pace brought him the chances getting past Adam Birgo with ease to just slot home from close range. Dean Gerken never really stood a chance with any of the goals. To be fair the scoreline doesn't suggest how the game panned out, Colchester had more chances than us but again our defence and keeper stood strong and if Camp can carry this on surely bigger teams will be wanting him.

Some great signings there to start with. Maybe the draws were just the newboys getting to know each other because 4 wins out of 4 tells its own story.
Keep this one up mate, making interesting reading.

Wednesday 29th August 2007 - Carling Cup 2nd Round Match
Crystal Palace 1-0 Queens Park Rangers
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Albrechtsen, Hall, Mancienne, Mahon, Murphy (Buszaky 45), Leigertwood, Barazite, Anichebe, Bolder (C)
Goalscorers:
Attendance: 17,500
Opinions: Obviously disappointed but we couldn't win every match this season, we had to go out of the cup to someone just disappointed it wasn't a more high profile team. HAppy with the display though Shefki Kuqi managed to outmuscle Leigertwood from a corner and nod home from close range. Anichebe missed a few sitters and Barazite was fairly disappointing in a more advanced role. Onwards and upwards though we should learn from it.

Other Cup Scores
Leeds 0-3 Sheff Utd
Aston Villa 2-1 Bristol Rovers
Birmingham 1-0 Doncaster
Wolves 1-2 Tranmere
Newcastle 1-1 p Nottm Forest :o
Wigan 2-1 Bristol City
Barnsley 3-2 Middlesborough

Pike Wins Manager Of The Month
QPR's rookie manager Lee Pike has scooped the August manager of the month award. Pike has guided QPR to the top of the championship after winning his first 3 league games without letting a goal in against. It's a good achievement consider he's new to the game with little experience what so ever.

The trophy in all it's prime
Quote:
Saturay 1st September 2007 - Championship Match 4
Wolves 2-0 Queens Park Rangers
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Albrechtsen, Hall, Mancienne, Mahon (Connally 32), Murphy, Leigertwood, Ambrose, Beckford (Vine 75), Bolder
Goalscorers:
Attendance: 21,406
Opinions: Back to back defeats isn't good. Also the injury to Beckford is another spot of bad news. Mancienne messed this up though, we were easily coping with Wolves but once he went the game went out of the window. Stephen Elliott broke through the defence to tap home then Freddy Eastwood from the penalty spot made it 2. Must win game next at home to Plymouth, can't really afford another defeat after a solid first few games to the season.

From the penalty spot
Quote:
Saturday 15th September 2007 - Championship Match 5
Queens Park Rangers 2-0 Plymouth Argyle
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Lee, Hall, Albrechtsen, Barazite, Murphy, Leigertwood, Rowlands, Anichebe (Vince 45), Buszaky (Bolder 45)
Goalscorers: Daryly Murphy pen 52, Rowan Vine 74
Attendance: 14,760
Opinions: Get in there, 3 points back on the scoreboard. Should of really gone in to half time leading were never really troubled. Plymouth only had 2 clear cut chances and failed to make them pay. Murphy got brought down inside the area and converted it himself then Vine scored a well placed long range effort to leave Plymouth stunned. Just went back to basics, Barazite played more deeper than previously and Rowlands made his first appearance of the season.

Opened the scoring
Quote:
Wednesday 19th September - Championship Match 6
Crystal Palace 1-1 Queens Park Rangers
Team: Camp, Gilbert, Lee, Albrechtsen, Hall, Mahon (Leigertwood 90), Murphy (Buszaky 74), Delaney, Ambrose, Anichebe (Beckford 45), Bolder
Goalscorers: Martin Albrechtsen 34
Attendance: 21,493
Opinions: Tough game against a team who knocked us out of the cup. In a way a point is good but to squander a lead is disappointing. Palace now go 7 games unbeaten so maybe a point isn't that bad a result considering. Anichebe really doesn't look the part following that hatrick earlier on in the season and barely posed a threat hence why Beckford came on at half time. Overall though a point is probably fair both keepers pulled off saves in what was a wide open game
