7th July 2007

Breaking News:

Ex professional footballer David Ashcroft has publically announced that he has gained his grade A coaching badges and is actively seeking a managing role at a football club within the United Kingdom. David, who has previously played for Leyton Orient, Blackpool, Scunthorpe and Hibernian, where he retired two years ago, is said to be eagerly anticipating his managerial career.

8th July 2007

Breaking News:

David Ashcroft has applied for the vacant managerial role at Hearts, but is told by chairman Vladimir Romanov that he is not the right man for the job. David is quoted as saying he has not been deterred in his hunt for a job and this will only focus him more to be successful at the first club he ends up at.

13th October 2007

Breaking News:

Unemployed and inexperienced manager, David Ashcroft, has bravely told the media that he is interested in the Norwich City job, should the board decide to sack under-pressure manager Glenn Roeder.

13th October 2007

Breaking News:

Following reports in the media yesterday that unemployed manager David Ashcroft was interested in the managerial position at Carrow Road, the Norwich City board have terminated Glenn Roeder's contract with immediate effect. However the chairman has refused to comment on whether they are currently in talks with a replacement manager.

15th October 2007

Breaking News:

Norwich City called a press conference today to unveal new manager David Ashcroft. David is said to be cautiosly anticipating his time at Carrow Road and hopes that he doesn't let down the board or the fans. David takes over a team in trouble, finding themselves in the relegation places in the Championship.
David Ashcroft's first game in charge will be on saturday at Vicarage Road, Watford where three points is a must for Norwich to pull themselves out of the relegation zone at this early stage in the season.

20th October 2007

Result:

Watford 4 - 2 Norwich

A bad start for new manager David Ashcroft as they go down to managerless Watford 4 - 2. Despite taking an early lead, a hat-trick from Darius Henderson saw Watford 3 - 1 up after 65 minutes. Norwich managed to get a goal back, but less than 60 seconds later Watford made it 4 - 2.

"Obviously I'm disappointed with the result. But today was a real eye opener for me as I saw how the individual players perform and react to what I say. I'm delighted to be managing a team like Norwich, and I want to guide them to safety as soon as possible. I feel that a few new faces will have to be brought in to shore up the defence and the midfield, as we conceded 4 goals today far too easily." Norwich City Manager, David Ashcroft.

23 October 2007

Result:

Norwich 1 - 1 Barnsley

New manager David Ashcroft gets his first point on the board for norwich, and this point moves them out of the relegation places. Norwich were leading right up till the 92nd minute when Barnsley hit an equaliser.

"Obviously i'm happy to be out of the relegation places, but I'm disappointed to lose such a late goal today. I'll be letting the played know this and will work on concentration right up till the final whistle is the coming week's training." Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

27th October 2007

Result:

Sheffield Wednesday 1 - 4 Norwich

A very exciting game sees David Ashcroft earn his first three points as a manager. Sheffield wednesday took an early lead before Norwich turned on the style and were just too good for Sheffield Wednesday.

"I just can't tell you how thrilled I am with my first win as a manager! I'm delighted with the effort the players put in and I will be asking for more of the same in future matches. The victoyry moves us into 18th place in the league and will hoefully give us the springboard in which to go on and climb up the league table." Norwich Manger, David Ashcroft.

Month Conclusion:

So at the end of October, I'm starting to gather a little momentum with Norwich city, however I know that changes will need to be made, sooner rather than later.

I will update this after every month of game time.

3rd November 2007

Result:

Norwich 3 - 1 Ipswich

David Ashcroft had his first game in charge in front of the TV cameras, and his team did very little wrong. Ashcroft set them up to play with a fast tempo and Ipswich couldn’t handle them. This win moves Norwich further up the table and is there momentum beginning to build?

“I’m delighted with my second win in a row, and I’m even more delighted to get the victory in front of the TV cameras. I made a few tactical changes since we were playing at home, set up with a quick tempo and to get the ball wide, and I’m delighted with the results of the tactic.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

7th November 2007

Result:

Preston 3 - 3 Norwich

A very even game between two very good sides did produce a lot of goals today. The point a piece was a fair result on the day and both managers will not be disappointed.

“A point is better than a defeat is it not? It means we do not lose the momentum that we have built up over the last two games. Happy with the work rate from the players and I have noticed already since I joined here that the fitness of the players has improved greatly and they can put a shift in for 90 minutes now.” Norwich Manger, David Ashcroft.

10th November 2007

Result:

Norwich 1 - 1 West Brom

Norwich produced a solid display against the team sitting second in the table before the game. Norwich will be happy with the draw, but West Brom will be disappointed not to have won the game after having plenty of chances in the last 25 minutes to do so.

“Another point, every little helps. We played well in the first half against a very strong team, but they’re quality showed in the second half and I feel that my players just stood back and admire them which I am not happy about and will be telling the players that in training on Monday. We have a bit of a break before our next game so this will give me an opportunity to work on a few things such as set pieces and shooting. On an unrelated note, I am rather disappointed that no one player has stood out for me as a key player in the team, but its early yet, I hope someone will begin to shine soon.” Norwich manager, David Ashcroft.

24th November 2007

Result:

Burnley 2 - 3 Norwich

A very entertaining game here with Norwich just shading it with a late goal. Manager David Ashcroft is beginning to mould a good team out of what he inherited, so lets keep an eye on how they go in the near future.

“I’m delighted with three points, and even more delighted with out six game unbeaten run. I had a break in fixtures in which I worked on fitness and set pieces, fitness was outstanding today and we worked hard right to the final whistle. I just hope that we can keep up our unbeaten run and keep climbing the table.” Norwich manager, David Ashcroft.

27th November 2007

Result:

Leicester 2 - 1 Norwich

A cruel blow for Norwich as they lose a goal in the 95th minute. They played well, but that late goal has crushed them in an unbeaten month, until now.

Norwich manager, David Ashcroft was not available for comment.

Month Conclusion

I’m happy with the month, we were unbeaten right up until the last game of the season and I feel that my team are beginning to play well together under my guidance. I hope I can have another month similar month in December.

Here is a screenshot of the League at the end of november.

1st December 2007

Result:

Norwich 1 - 0 Crystal Palace

Norwich went into this game on the back of a sore defeat to Leicester, but it didn’t show in this performance. They played well throughout with Charlie Adam sticking out a mile on the left side of midfield. The rangers winger is on loan at Norwich till the end of the season and is beginning to show his true form. Norwich will surely be trying to sign him on a permanent contract as soon as possible.

“I’m happy to bounce back from our defeat last week and I think we played well today. Its another victory for us, and more points on the table. If we can continue to climb the table I’ll be delighted. Personally I’d like to guide the team to the playoffs, even though I know this is a mammoth task considering 8 weeks ago this team were sitting in the relegation places.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft

3rd December 2007

Breaking News:

Norwich have been drawn at home against Scunthorpe in the FA Cup third round. The game will be played at Carrow Road on the 5th of January 2008.

4th December 2007

Result:

Norwich 1 - 0 Hull

A very poor game sees Norwich come out on top. Both teams played poorly but Norwich just did enough to see the game out.

“Happy with the result, but I’m not happy with the performance. No-one got pass marks today. I’ll be working on attacking tactics in training, hoping we can get more goals and create more exciting games to watch for the neutral.

8th December 2007

Result:

Plymouth 3 - 2 Norwich

Norwich took a two goal lead into half time and looked comfortable. However, whatever David Ashcroft said at half time, it went wrong. Plymouth scored two quick goals midway through the second half to set up an exciting finish. The game looked like it would finish a draw, until Plymouth popped up with a winner in the 93rd minute. Norwich are starting to get used to losing very late goals this season.

“Really unhappy to loose the late goal again, however my efforts in trainig to get the team to attack more definitely showed through in the first half as we played wonderful free-flowing attacking football and I don’t think Plymouth knew what hit them. But all credit to Plymouth to come out and win the game from two goals down. I have just given the players and absolute rollicking in the dressing room so they know how I feel in no uncertain terms!” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

15th December 2007

Result:

Norwich 0 - 1 Q.P.R

A very, very poor game! Q.P.R have shaded this one, but there’s not much to write about here.

“Disappointed with the defeat, but there’s not much I can say about this game. I feel sorry for the fans coming to see that game today, it was absolutely terrible! I’ll be showing the team a video of that game to show them how bad that was.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

22nd December 2007

Result:

Charlton 4 - 2 Norwich

Another defeat for Norwich as they’re good form under David Ashcroft appears to be vaporising to nothing. A good game with Charlton showing they’re superiority in class. Charlton go into second in the league with this result, Norwich slip back to 17th place.

“A disappointing defeat for us today, but we were playing a far better team and on this performance, I fancy Charlton for promotion. I just hope that this slump in form is temporary, and we can bounce back in out next game against Sheffield United.”

Breaking News:

Hibernian have sacked manager Mixu Paataelinen and Norwich manager David Ashcroft is being touted as favourite for the job, however he has told local press that he has no interest in leaving Norwich after such a short time there, even though he would like to manage in his home country, Scotland.

26th December 2007

Result:

Sheffield United 2 - 3 Norwich

A fantastic victory for Norwich against third placed Sheffield United. Wonderful attacking football was on display by both teams here, however, Norwich came out on top and managed to grab the three points from the massive favourites for this match.

“Well I just can’t tell you how delighted I am with the players today! I asked for a response from the players after our three defeats in a row, and I got it today. We beat a team that is much stronger than us in they’re back yard. I now want the players to go on and build on this in future games. I am trying to sign our best performer up to this point, Charlie Adam on a permanent deal, but Rangers are looking for a bit too much money for him at the moment, but we‘ll see what they‘re asking towards the end of the season.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft
29th December 2007

Result:

Norwich 1 - 1 Stoke

Another late goal conceded for Norwich as they earn a draw at home against Stoke. It was a decent game, both teams had a go as both teams need the points on the board, but it ended up just being a draw.

“Not too disappointed with the result today, both teams deserved the draw so it was the fair and most likely result today. However it is two points that we cannot really afford to lose at this time of the season. However at the end of 2007 we are going ok. I have enjoyed my time so far with Norwich City and I hope I can keep going here for a few years to come.”

Month Conclusion

A mixed month saw me end the season in 15th place, which isn’t the worst. However I still would like to get into the playoff spots by the end of the season. Going into the January transfer window, I will be strengthening the defence and will buy another striker. Hopefully that will give me the strength to quickly climb the table in the new year.

1st January 2008

Result:

Norwich 2 - 1 Blackpool

A good start to the year for Norwich as they fight for a good victory over Blackpool at Carrow Road today. Norwich were two goals to the good just after half time but a cracking goal from Blackpool with twenty minutes to go ensured a great finish for the neutral, but I’m sure both managers were feeling the pressure a bit towards the end.

“Delighted with the win in a close game today. I’m happy with the attitude shown by the players since I have come here, and I can only hope this will continue long into the future.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

5th January 2008

Result:

Norwich 3 - 0 Scunthorpe

A great result for Norwich in David Ashcroft’s first cup game in charge. This victory means that Norwich progress to the FA Cup 4th round. Norwich striker told the media after today’s game that he is delighted with the way that manager David Ashcroft was taking charge of the team and is looking forward to working with him for the foreseeable future.

“Happy to win against what could have been potentially a tripwire game for us today in the FA cup against a team in a lower league than us. The players showed great attitude and stayed disciplined to see the game out and arise victorious. I’m delighted to progress in the cup and can’t wait to find out who we get in the next round.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

6th January 2008

Breaking News:

Ashcroft brings in two new faces to Carrow road today. Hearts defensive midfielder Ruben Palezuelos has arrive for a fee of £190K. Also arriving today is Derby’s left winger Eddie Lewis for a fee of £140K.

7th January 2008

FA Cup 4th Round Draw

Stoke or Manchester City v Norwich

Manager David Ashcroft seemed happy with the draw today, but he was not in attendance at the draw and so was not available for comment today.

12th January 2008

Result:

Wolves 1 - 1 Norwich

A decent result for both teams. Not really much to report from this game apart from the fact that maybe Norwich should have shaded it.

“I’m happy with a point today, although I feel we should have won the game today. A point is not the worst result today and we’ll hope to build on this and get three points in our next game.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

19th January 2008

Result:

Norwich 1 - 0 Coventry

Norwich have now gone five games without defeat and are starting to look like a team who could be sitting in the playoff positions if it wasn’t for such a poor start to the season under previous manager, Glenn Roeder. Norwich, although didn’t win by a large margin, looked comfortable against Coventry for the whole game and as a result came away with three points.

“As a team, we’re delighted to go five games unbeaten and I think the players are disappointed with themselves for they’re poor start to the season, however I have told them that if we continue to play like we have for the last few weeks, then we may still make a playoff position this season, which would be an amazing feat for a team that were in the relegation places just a few months ago.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

26th January 2008

Result:

Man City 6 - 2 Norwich

A result that was to be expected today seen Man City come out comfortable victors against Norwich in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Norwich put on a brave face and scored two second half goals however this was nowhere near enough against far superior opponents today. This result just shows the huge difference in class between the premiership and the championship in England.

“I really wasn’t expecting to get a positive result today if I’m being honest, I was thinking about seeing the difference in class between our league and the premiership. It shows straight away today that the players we have will not be capable of playing in the premiership and will have to improve dramatically over the next year or so. I know that sounds harsh and I know that my players will not respond well to this, however I’m hoping that they may use it as motivation to improve within themselves and get us promotion either this season via the play-offs or have a real go for it next year right from the start of the season.” Norwich manager, David Ashcroft.

30th January 2008

Result:

Southampton 2 - 2 Norwich

The most likely result before the game was a draw, and that’s what this game produced. It was a really good game with Southampton taking the lead twice and Norwich showing great character to come back and equalise twice. Both teams should be happy with they’re performance, and Norwich are now six league games without defeat.

“happy with the draw, and delighted with our unbeaten run. W showed great character to equalise twice and to be fair we looked as though we were going to go on and score the winner.” Norwich Manager, David Ashcroft.

Month Conclusion

An unbeaten month in the league see’s us climb the league again this month which can only be a good thing and I feel we are gaining more confidence in every game we play. I was disappointed with the FA Cup fourth round game, but that happens when you play superior opposition. Hope we can keep this up next month. I still haven’t tested my new signings in first team action, but they have both impressed in reserve games, I might bring them into the first team next month.
