Someone with no experience as a manager has to start low and try to work his way up. That is the story of me, a manager with no experience, starting in the Icelandic Íslandsmót - Landsbankadeild Karla, the top division of Iceland. The club for me to manage is Fjölnir, a club of which the media says they will finish last this season.
Fjölnir, a semi-professional club based in Reykjavik and founded in 1988. The club plays their home matches in the Fjölnisvöllur stadium, in which 1500 fans get to cheer for their club which they love.
It is also a club which is very strict. I am not allowed to buy any players in the first season and only one player per season when the first season is over. To make it even tougher, the player needs to have the Icelandic nationality. The club also instructed me to watch all the matches on "Full Match Mode" to learn the most about the club and their players. I guess this is what people call "the ultimate challenge".

PRE-SEASON: NEWSFLASH Geir Kristinsson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009.
Pétur Georg Markan has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009.
The fast striker Petur "Vipp" Markan, better known as "The Special One", needs to make the goals this season.
Haukur Lárusson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009.
Ómar Hákonarson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009. Hákonarson signed for newly-promoted Fjölnir in 2006.
Einar M Einarsson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009.
One of the brothers Einarsson is more than ready for the upcoming season.
Fjölnir have appointed 32-year-old Morten Bringe Hansen as a coach.
Jóhann Hilmarsson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Thursday 30th September 2010.
Fjölnir have appointed 32-year-old Steve Leigh as a fitness coach.
Fjölnir have appointed 54-year-old Tony Adams as a coach.
Gunnar Valur Gunnarsson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009. Gunnarsson signed for newly-promoted Fjölnir in 2003.
"Gunni", the man with the good looks, has been at Fjölnir for four years.
Reynir have offered a contract to Gunnar Hauksson.
Kjartan Ólafsson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Wednesday 30th September 2009.
The Fjölnir vs HK Deild Karla match on Saturday 17th May 2008 has been chosen for live television coverage.
Gunnar Guðmundsson has has put pen to paper on a 2 year contract at Fjölnir. He indicated that he was delighted to have signed a new deal for the club of his dreams.
Even though many clubs were interested in Gunnar "Tiny" Guðmundsson, he chose for a longer stay at the club he loves.
Sigurgeirsson has informed me that eight players have been promoted to the youth team. Sigurgeirsson is excited by Þórður Gíslason whom he feels has the potential to be one of the most gifted players to come through the youth ranks at Fjölnir in recent years.
Gunnar Hauksson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Tuesday 30th September 2008.
Groundsman asked me for the pitch size alterations. Since I am going to battle against relegation, I decided to go for a narrow pitch, which is 106m by 60m.

Kolbeinn Kristinsson has signed a new contract with Fjölnir. The deal will keep him at the club until Tuesday 30th September 2008.
Valur and FH have been made 6-4 joint favourites to win the Icelandic Íslandsmót - Landsbankadeild Karla title this season. With prices for your team starting at 50-1, the bookmakers appear convinced that your team lacks the quality to mount any sort of title challenge in your first season up and that you would do well to stay in the division.
 
Valur and Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar, the two title challengers for this season.
HamKam  have accepted the offer from Fjölnir for a friendly match on Friday 8th February 2008.
Víkingur Ólafsvík have accepted the offer from Fjölnir for a friendly match on Monday 4th February 2008.
Haukar have accepted the offer from Fjölnir for a friendly match on Wednesday 30th January 2008.
Brommapojkarna  have accepted the offer from Fjölnir for a friendly match on Thursday 24th January 2008.
My personal assistant has given me advanced warning that the contract of ten Fjölnir players are either due to expire in the next 12 months, or may have already expired. The most notable include Þórður Ingason, Halldór Ásgrímsson and Ríkharð Snorrason.
Þórður "Doddi" Ingason is the first team goalkeeper this season.
Squad win bonuses; Under the proposed agreement, the players would be paid a total of € 7K to be shared among the squad on a pro-rata basis if the club can win the league. For winning a domestic cup competition, the players would receive a total of € 3K to be shared among the squad. Should the team fail to win a competition, the bonus will be scaled down depending on the final position. I chose for a normal league bonus and a high cup bonus.
Kolbein Kristinsson has sustained a broken shoulder after falling awkwardly during a training session. It is likely that Kristinsson will be out for between 3 weeks and a month whilst he is treated.
The Fjölnir board have cancelled the transfer of Michael Knudsen as they feel the club doesn't need another coach.
Gunnar Guðmundsson has been selected as captain and Magnús Ingi Einarsson as vice-captain.
Afturelding have offered a contract to Illugi Gunnarsson.
