Georg Janusson, reporter of Sport.is, managed to get an interview with Jos Dofferhoff, the manager of Fjölnir, after the final cup match against FH. Georg Janusson: Jos Dofferhoff, Dutch manager of Fjölnir, is here with us after the 1-0 loss against FH. Mr. Dofferhoff, so close to qualify for the quarter finals but ending up with nothing. What is going through your mind at this moment?
Jos Dofferhoff: Mixed feelings Georg. At the beginning of the cup league, no one gave Fjölnir a chance of ending in the top four. With Valur and FH, the two title challengers of this season, we were without a doubt in the toughest group of the cup. Still, we managed to stay for six matches in a qualifying position and we even finished above FH. My boys gave everything in all the cup matches and they showed that having a better team doesn't guarantee you the three points.
Georg Janusson: But it has to hurt that you were so close. I mean, you could even have lost the match if Breiðablik would lose or Valur would draw but instead, they both won their match and kicked you out of the cup.
Jos Dofferhoff: Yes of course, we were in a pretty good position. We had everything in our own hands but you can't expect my boys to win an away game against FH. Breiðablik and Valur did what they had to do and did that very well.
Georg Janusson: Could you tell us what you've learned with this cup experience and what you can expect from the upcoming league season?
Jos Dofferhoff: I've seen that every team can be beaten if the team plays to their full potential and compensate the individual quality of some opponents with a high work rate and good teamwork. However, we shouldn't rise above ourselves and look at the facts. Fjölnir is a newly promoted team with a very limited budget and a small first team squad. At the same time, this brings an advantage. Teams might underestimate us and especially on our home ground, we shouldn't be scared of some big names and play our own game.
Georg Janusson: You mentioned that you've got a small squad. Does this mean you are looking for players to sign and expand the team?
Jos Dofferhoff: Not necessarily no. At this moment, we don't have any money to sign new players. We think that the current selection should be able to keep us away from relegation and we believe there are some talented youngsters in the youth team of our club.
Georg Janusson: Thank you for taking the time for this interview Mr. Dofferhoff. Good luck in the league and hope you do well.
Jos Dofferhoff: Not a problem Georg.

In a happy mood at the moment. Of course, getting knocked out of the cup with such bad luck is always hard to deal with but my boys made me proud and we even managed to finish above FH, the title challenger of this season. We shouldn't forget that the media thinks Fjölnir will finish last in the league this season. I do think my tactic could be better and I've got over a month to tweak it. Perhaps one of two friendlies to stay in shape is a good idea. This will also give me a good opportunity to see what parts of my tactic need improvement.
