This was just a tough match. Away against probably the biggest title challenger of this season. We started really weak, which resulted in an early goal for Valur after 9 minutes. When Valur missed a penalty after half an hour, we could get some more ball possession and try to attack every now and then. Valur was the better side almost every minute of the game but we didn't give many goal opportunities to Valur. When we scored the 3-2 in the 90th minute, I decided to put everyone up front but unfortunately it couldn't make a difference and an expected loss is the result. I think my boys worked hard against a team which is a couple of times better. We ended with 48% ball possession and 60% passes completed.

Breiðablik 3 : 1 FH
Fjarðabyggð 1 : 2 Stjarnan
Fylkir 1 : 0 HK

Valur favourites for Fjölnir clash.
Valur: 1-2 (Fav) - Draw: 13-5 - Fjölnir: 9-2
Valur are clear favourites in this home encounter but will still have to make sure they do a professional job against newly-promoted Fjölnir, according to Sky Bet.

Attention turns to Laugardalsvöllur.
I have been approached by a journalist from a national newspaper. Both clubs will be doing everything they can to ensure victory. Am I confident ahead of the upcoming tie? I have indicated that I feel Valur pose just as much of a threat as any other team.

Fjölnir defeated.
Despite battling hard, Fjölnir were unable to prevent a superior Valur side coming away from Laugardalsvöllur with a 3-2 victory.

Mixed feeling with this match. We started with a tremendous amount of passion and workload. We showed that, starting with a high work rate and teamwork, you can achieve great things in a single half. We manage to outplay the opponent everywhere, not giving them a single chance and scoring three goals. Everything went like I wanted tactically. Unfortunately, the second half was the other way around and we managed to give Fylkir hope to go back from here with a point. It wasn't even that Fylkir played with so much passion, it was more a very bad second half from my boys. A lot went wrong and some players were trying things in places which can be deadly when you lose the ball. Like I said, we didn't give any chances away in the first half but we ended with giving away 12 shots and 5 on target. We managed to get 6 shots and 4 on target, which were all in the first 45 minutes.

The level of the Icelandic football isn't so fantastic and in order to grab some points, you'll need to show on the pitch that you really want to win and put pressure on the opponent to force them to make mistakes. We did that very well in the first half but it was a poor performance in the second one and we should be thankful that we can keep the three points at home.

Fortunately, we are still in the top four of the cup league and need to stay there in order to quality for the Semi-Finals. Next game is a tough away match against Breiðablik, whom have a Dutch winger called Prince Rajcomar as one of their key players.

FH 1 : 2 Fjarðabyggð
HK 2 : 1 Breiðablik
Stjarnan 1 : 1 Valur

Fjölnir face Fylkir
Fjölnir: 13-8 - Draw: 2-1 - Fylkir: 6-4 (Fav)
Newly-promoted Fjölnir go into this game as slight underdogs even though they have home advantage over Fylkir, according to Sky Bet.

Fylkir coming to town.
I have been approached by a journalist from a national newspaper. Both clubs will be doing everything they can to ensure victory. Am I confident ahead of the upcoming tie? I have indicated that I feel my team can beat Fylkir if they play to their best.

Fjölnir fortunate to beat Fylkir.
Fjölnir recorded a somewhat fortuitous win over Fylkir on a fine spring afternoon at Fjölnisvöllur. The 3-2 result flattered Fjölnir as their opponents seemed to have done enough to at least draw the game.

A very tough match for both sides which could only be enjoyed by people who are a fan of either clubs. Beforehand, I found out that Breiðablik had a strong striker up front, Marel Baldvinsson, who could be very dominant in the air today. I started with everyone on their regular position but in the first 10 minutes, I noticed that Einar M Einarsson was losing too many fights in the air against Baldvinsson. From the first minute, my striker managed to make sure the defense of Breiðablik had to use the long ball. Unfortunately, they searched Baldvinsson all the time which would result in a winning header from the striker and ball possession for Breiðablik. One of Einarsson's strengths is that he is really fast on the first meters but his main weakness is that he isn't dominant in the air. So I decided to swap him with Sturluson, who is one of my best defenders. This worked out very well. I managed to gain more ball possession and the long balls from their defense were being won by my defenders more often.

The first half wasn't one of the many chances. To be more detailed, the first half ended with 3 shots, 0 on goal for Breiðablik and 2 shots, 0 on goal for Fjölnir. Breiðablik is a team from my division and with a mid-table league position according to the always critical media. Giving them no shots on goal in first 45 minutes proved that my tactic was solid and that I didn't create any chances myself wasn't my main concern. We came here for a point and 0-0 is a fine result for Fjölnir in my opinion.

Another 45 minutes to go before I could celebrate a point. The second half reminded me of the first one. Not many chances and both teams searching for a gap in the opponent's defense or hoping for an crucial error. And it almost happened for me. A corner for Fjölnir and Sturluson standing totally free in the 5 yards box. Unfortunately, Sturluson's couldn't manage to get in it, thanks to a defender who was covering the far post. It was the first attempt on goal and it only lasted 71 minutes. The match went back to its old state until substitute Halldór Ásgrímsson, who was only on the pitch for two minutes, managed to make a fine dribble before being pushed over by a defender just outside the penalty box. A free-kick on a perfect position was the result with Lárusson as the taker. The ball, who deflected against the wall, rolled in Sturluson's feet and he showed that a defender can be a cool finished. A second later, the scoreboard showed that we were in the 86th minute and that it was 0-1 for Fjölnir. All I could think of was defending, defending, defending. Unfortunately, my left back Kristinsson, thought otherwise. After an attempt to get past three opponent, he lost the ball and left the right winger totally unmarked. A cross in the box and a header changed the scoreline in 1-1. Ten seconds later the match was over and both teams grabbed a point which was probably fair to the both of them.

I am still thinking of that dribble by Kristinsson. Of course, there was a lot of space in front of him but we were already far in the injury time and both team as individual instructions were set on long ball. I also told the backs to stop with the forward run and avoid to run with the ball. Every ball contact should have been a long kick towards the only striker up front. Kristinsson played very well and if only you had the possibility in FM to let a player know what he has done wrong. Saying to him that you are disappointed about his performance is a bit harsh because it was one single error against a lot of things that he did very well. I would love to say to him that he played a good match but ask him why on earth he was neglecting the instructions I gave him and started his own adventure.

Two matches to go and positioned on a second place. It would be fantastic to go through and it order to do that, I need to win my next home game against Fjarðabyggð. The last match is against FH, the title challenger for this season, who are on the sixth place in the cup table. Despite their low position, I doubt I will grab a point on their home ground.

FH 2 : 1 Stjarnan
Fjarðabyggð 0 : 1 HK
Fylkir 6 : 5 Valur

Player called up for international duty.
Þórður Ingason has been called up to the Iceland Under 21s squad to face Finland Under 21s. The match will take place on March 25th.

Hermansen Scouting Report: Breiðablik
Tonny Hermansen has noted that Breiðablik will probably play a 4-4-2 formation with a strong emphasis on attack. The pitch at Kópavogsvöllur is on the short side which will cause a lot of congestion, particularly in the middle of the pitch. Players will have to work hard in order to find space.
Breiðablik don't play a particular passing style and like to mix it around a bit. Hermansen believes that the skill of forward Prince Rajcomar may necessitate playing an anchorman in midfield to help our defense.

Fjölnir face Breiðablik in Íslandsmót 1. clash.
Breiðablik: Evens (Fav) - Draw: 9-4 - Fjölnir: 9-4
Fjölnir go into this game with every chance of walking away with something against slight favourites Breiðablik, according to Sky Bet.

Fjölnir hold Breiðablik to draw.
Fjölnir could count themselves somewhat fortunate to have escaped with a draw against Breiðablik in their Íslandsmót 1. Deild Karla Group A game at Kópavogsvöllur. The final scoreline of 1-1 failed to reflect the superiority enjoyed by Breiðablik through much of the game.

Leifsson resumes full training.
Tómas Leifsson has begun full training after being struck down by a virus. Leifsson signed for newly-promoted Fjölnir in 2007.

Wow Bozza. I really love this layout, it's brilliant.

If I was to do a story in the future, would it be alright to use this template as a possible layout for myself?

I really think it's the best layout on the site.

An off-day for my players. I think that's the best way to describe this match. From the beginning on, we weren't able to dictate the tempo and try to create chances. It wasn't like Fjaraðbyggð created any big chances but they wouldn't have to, they're playing in a division lower than Fjölnir.

In the injury time of the first half, Markan received the ball, managed to get past his opponent before being put to the grass in the penalty box. It was a deserved penalty in my eyes and it was a great opportunity to get the lead just before half time. With the penalty scored by Sturluson, I was hoping Fjaraðbyggð would lose faith and the three points would stay at Fjölnir.

In the second half, we saw a better Fjaraðbyggð but especially, a worse playing Fjölnir. The players were piling under the pressure even though Fjaraðbyggð wasn't creating any real chances. Near the final whistle, Fjölnir had to take a throw-in almost at the byline of the opponent's half and I couldn't believe my eyes when I noticed my DL, Kristinsson went to throw it. With Fjaraðbyggð playing 4-2-4 and the FR totally free on midfield, Kristinsson still thought it was a good idea to take a throw-in and leave his opponent unmarked. Like expected, we weren't able to keep possession, Fjaraðbyggð kicked the ball long to the FR who managed to get a corner. Not even a minute later, the scoreboard read 1-1 and the final whistle had blown.

This was the second match in a row that Kristinsson comes on as a substitute and also the second time that he makes a major error which led to the equalizer. It was also a lesson for me that I should set every little detail of an ultra defensive tactic because the players are too dumb to figure out some things themselves. Even thought I didn't set my throw-in takers, I would expect when you are 1-0 up and in the final minutes, that a DL isn't going to take the throw-in when it's at the corner flag of the opponent. Apparently, I was wrong...

Next and final match is against the bottom team of the cup table but also against the biggest title favorite of the league this year. If I had won my previous match, a spot in the quarter finals would be guaranteed. Instead, I have to get a result at FH, which is going to be hard, really hard.

HK 2 : 1 FH
Stjarnan 0 : 0 Fylkir
Valur 1 : 1 Breiðablik
