Default Aston Villa Story

Saturday 7th July 2007 - 19:00
BREAKING NEWS

An Aston Villa spokesperson today announced that manager Martin O'Neill has decided to take a break from football to spend time with his cancer-stricken wife, Geraldine.

O'Neill has quit Villa to spend time with his wife.

As the search for a new manager goes on, Aston Villa has refused to announce who they have contacted, although they did tell us that they have spoken to a few people about the job, some highly rated, some not-so highly rated.

John Robertson - 8/11 (F)
Harry Redknapp - 4/1
Martin Jol - 5/1
Terry Venables - 16/1
Jose Mourinho - 20/1
David O'Leary - 33/1
David Ginola - 2000/1
James McMahon - 2000/1

Aston Villa assistant manager John Robertson looks favorite to get the job, although there is some competition from some highly rated managers, with David O'Leary and David Ginola refusing to rule out a return to Villa Park. James McMahon could also get his first manager role. He was a successful coach during Martin O'Neill's regin at Parkhead with Celtic.

Ginola refused to rule out a return to Villa Park, were he enjoyed a wonderful playing career.

8th July 2007
BREAKING NEWS

Aston Villa today announced that they have appointed a new manager. Rookie manager James McMahon, who enjoy working with Martin O'Neill at Celtic, was today announced the Aston Villa manager. Martin O'Neill is said to have reccomended him to the Aston Villa board. McMahon said,
"I am thrilled to be given the Aston Villa job. I want to thank Martin for mentioning my name. I am still a rookie manager and I can accept that some fans wont be happy with my appointment, but I have big plans for Villa and have a few players in mind that I would like to bring here. I would like to be in the Champions League by 2010, and should have no problem in doing that because I have been given a wonderful budget to bring in new faces."
However, McMahon refused to tell us what players who would like to see in a Villa top or exactly how much money he has been given. McMahon also said,
"I have only been at the club for a short period of time, but I have sent out all 4 scouts at the clubs having a look at a few players I would like to sign. I am not saying who, you will hopefully find out within the next few days."

Villa Park will be expanded.

McMahon did tell us though that to achieve what he wants to, Villa Park will need to be expanded. Randy Lerner also announced that he will be investing into the Villa Park expansion 2008.

McMahon's first signing.

James McMahon today revieled his first signing at Villa park. Ex-Chelsea right-back signed for Villa in a reported £1.7million deal. McMahon also stated that this is not his last signing and hopes to bring a few more faces in as soon as possible. Ferreria spoke of his joy at completing his move to Aston Villa. He revealed how he was frozen out of the first squad at Chelsea since Jose Mourinho was sacked and Belleti was brought in. He is said to be extremly happy to get the chance of first team football that he deserves.

Villareal duo Matias Fernandez and Nihat are reportedly in contract negotiations with Aston Villa.

Villareal duo Nihat and Matias Fernandez are just 2 of the other names that are expected to sign for Aston Villa in the transfer window. McMahon is said to rate these players very highly. He is also linked with swoops for a couple of young players who are dubbed as 'wonderkids' from all over the world.

Villareal duo Matias Fernandez and Nihat are reportedly waiting for work permits to join Aston Villa.

Nihat and Matias Fernandez are said to be waiting on a work permit to join Aston Villa. After McMahon saying that the Fernandez deal was off, he today confirmed that it wasn't.
"We came to an agreement with Villareal to get the both players in one deal. They are waiting on conditional work permits and then they will be able to play for us. They will be great assets to the squad.

Wonderkid Torje completes transfer to Aston Villa.

Highly rated Romanian wonderkid Gabriel Torje has signed for Aston Villa from Poli 1921 in a 500k bid. Torje, known as Torjlinho in Romainia, is said to be delighted as signing a contract with Aston Villa. McMaho said,
"I am thrilled to have captured his signature. At only 17 years of age, he can do nothing but improve for the next 10 years. He will be a great signing for us."

McMahon has also made a big for highly rated Racing and Argentina U'21 defender Ezequiel Garay. He is alreay one of the best defenders in the game, and McMahon would love to make him a Villa play as soon as possible. Weather Racing will want to let him leave, however, is a different story.

McMahon has sent John Robertson out to play the remaining friendlys while he searches the transfer market in a bid to find the right player he is looking for. He has also sent some under 19 youth players on loan to feeder club Tienen in Belgium to get them some first team experience.

Busy Day for Transfers at Villa Park!

Nihat and Matias Fernandez have both completed there signings to Aston Villa after being granted a work permit. The combined deal is though to be in the region of £15 million plus another 6 million after 18 months.

Luke Moore has joined Wigan on a year long loan deal. McMahon said this is a great way for him to develop into the great player he can. Villa midfield duo Craig Gardner and Isaiah Osbourne are reportedly on there way out of Villa Park for a combined deal on around £6 million. They had a fall out with James McMahon after he brought in Matias Fernandez, who is putting their first team spot in threat. With McMahon already a keen admirer of Fernandez, it is almost certain he will win a first team place by the end of pre-season. McMahon is also said to be a keen admirer of Petrov, following his spell at Celtic, and with McMahon playing his prefered 4-4-2, there isn't room in the midfield for all the players. Wilfred Bouma could be on his way out too.

McMahon has withdrawn his bid for Ezequiel Garay, in a vain bid to bring at least 2 new left backs to the club. Wilfred Bouma is in negotiations with Racing, and McMahon needs at least 2 new left backs. McMahon has announced he has a list of names he will be enquiring about. We believe these names are:
John Arne Riise
Asier del Horno
Armand Traore
Nicky Shorey
George McCartney and
Joloen Lescott

Wome is now an Aston Villa player.

James McMahon, today, confirmed he is done spending in the transfer market for this summer. And he did it in some style, snapping up ex-Werder Bremmen left back Pierre Wome. The season is about to start, with Aston Villa vs Derby in the first game, but Wome will not make it, although he is in the squad, McMahon said it would be better to let Wome train with the squad, and he wont be starting for at least 1 week.

Former Barcelona and Holland defender Michael Reiziger has begun his 4 week trial at Aston Villa. James McMahon said,
"Although he is old, he will provide that all important experience and back-up to the defence. If he impresses in training, then I will consider making a move for him.

Wonderkid Adam McGurk has joined Kidderminster on loan from Aston Villa. There were lots of big named clubs after the 18 year old stirkers signature, but McMahon insisted he was not going anywere for anything less than £7.5 million.

Ciaran Clark was also one of the most wanted names in English football yesterday, but Villa boss McMahon insisted that he is not going anywere. McMahon said Clark will easily become the best defender in the world and could be playing first team football by 2009.

So far, Aston Villa fans are still only satisfied by manager James McMahon. They all want to see him doing well and have faith in him. They are extrmely happy with McMahon's dealing's in the transfer market and are happy he has not let Adam McGurk leave the club permanently. McMahon is about to take charge of his first Premiership game against Derby. It should be an easy game for Villa, but will McMahon keep a cool head and get it right? Only time will tell.
