After a less than impressive pre-season winning just once against doncaster. Domenichoni and his spending spree had something to prove to the fans, Here is all the action from the opening day of the season.
At home v Reading.

After just 12 Minutes the visitors opened the scoring through Leroy Lita. Dave kitson exploited the space on the right hand side and played in a lovely ball for Lita, which he tapped past Chris Kirkland. #

#20 mins, Wigan have their best chance of the game so far, Zarate plays a lovely ball through to koumas who makes Hahneman make a fantastic stop to keep him out.

GOAL: Valencia Pounces on the rebound from a Mauro Zarate shot, put it away with style and class, as you would expect. The goal Makes the score 1-1

Goal: 1-2: 39 mins. Walter Centeno's poor clearance straight into the feet of Leroy Lita has Gifted Reading the lead just before half time.

Half Time: WIGAN 1-2 READING

SUBS: Jason Koumas has made way for new signing 19 year old Buonanotte

Goal:#68 Leroy Lita Secures his hattrick after getting onto the end of a Hunt Cross.

Goal: #90 Diego Buonanotte gets a goal on his debut, he latched onto a pinpoint pass by Valencia and poked it past Hahneman with class.

Full Time:
Wigan 2-3 reading.

Manger Overview: Well today i thought we went out we fought well. In the end i think we deserved a point, but thats how football is sometimes, and i think we will get better as our players get used to playing with each other.

brilliant story, but IMO some dodgey signings, edman for example, good yes, but his contract ALWAYS expires soon. You seem to be leaking aswell, J. Evans on loan maybe?

SUBS: Koumas Comes on for Thiago.

2nd Half

#74th min. Buononotte has an excellent chance to finish off the game, gets onto a long ball by Edman, first time shot and nestles into the back of the net. However much to the dismay of the home supporters its disallowed.

#84th min. Victor Anichebe Rose up above Boyce to get onto a pinpoint cross by Mcfadden to equalise late on in the game. surely Domenichoni wont be getting his first win as wigan manager today.
