Smile To Hell and Back with Hellas Verona

This thread started because one night I was bored and wanted to have a challenge in a foreign lower league game. I was just browsing through Italy and saw Verona in the Serie C1/A division to my surprise, instantly it hit me that I should manage them and take them back up to where they belong.
After I had taken the job I was rather happy. This was because again to my surprise they were fine with finances and also under their wage budget, not only this they had a huge stadium. The only downside I could see is that their squad was of a very average standard. Not to mention that their parent club is the one and only Roma too, so loaned youngsters are going to be the way to go.

The first big decision to be made was issued from the board in what the objective was. I instinctly replied that we could win the league, daring I know but I was quietly confident. The first thing for me to do after this was to appoint the back room staff. I like to mix up the nationalities in the back room staff so I gain more knowledge of their country for my player search.

The search of staff is on......continued in my next post.

i like your idea and if you need any help dont hesitate to ask
i am doing similarly with accrington stanley and im trying to get them to the prem (im in league 1 second season)
good luck with your game and make sure you get alex fernandez - he is the best striker for lower league teams

also i would see this going in the your current game section instead (unless you plan or writing about it like a story or newspaper article)

Thanks to Spanish for the userbars :)

Thanks apthered I will definitely need help with these guys I think. I not 100% on the Italian lower leagues so help is always welcomed. I will try to make this a story but if someone wants to move to the current game section then it is not a problem.

Hellas Verona Football Club S.p.A (commonly known simply as Verona, or Hellas within the city of Verona itself) is an Italian professional football team, based in Verona, Veneto. The team's colours are yellow and blue and gialloblu (literally, "yellow-blue" in Italian) is the team's most widely used nickname. The colours represent the city itself and Verona's emblem (a yellow cross on a blue shield) appears on most team apparel. Two more team nicknames are Mastini (the mastiffs) and Scaligeri, both references to Mastino I della Scala of the Della Scala princes that ruled the city during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.

The Scala family coat of arms is depicted on the team's jersey and on its trademark logo as a stylized image of two large, powerful mastiffs facing opposite directions. In essence, the term "scaligeri" is synonymous with Veronese, and therefore can describe anything or anyone from Verona (eg., Chievo Verona, a different team that also links itself to the Scala family - specifically to Cangrande della Scala).

Verona manager Greg Rose has declared that he wants to bring in a new attacking force and will be looking at players in which he feels can win this league even on an off day. Its clear to see that Rose has every intrention in doing this with the players he is rumoured to be bringing to the club. Rose has been known to have alot of links with Eastern Europe and Germany.

And there search for coaches is over. I have got the best I can but alot are just sub standard. The stars will need to go up if we go up.

I have decided to buy only a few players too. I noticed the goalkeepers were poor at Verona so I've bought an friend in. He was my Ivory Coast number 1 and grows still despite being only 25. Up front I got Bogdan Stancu who is only described as a god but usually takes me a season to get him settled, but with the help of Pablo Piatti this should be no problem whatsoever. As you can see the main thing was the attack to be shelled out on.

Thanks guys for the support and I guarantee I will need help soon with these guys.

Rose Declares HONEYMOON Over

Gialloblu boss Greg Rose said today that the honeymoon was over after they finished their last pre season friendly today. Hellas have been in great form in their friendlies with 4 wins and 1 draw in 5 games. They managed to score an amazing 12 goals in these 4 friendlies while only conceding 4 goals. Rose is reported to be pleased with his team through these games and the additions he has made, but he believes there is room for change still.

These teams are of the same level really as Hellas:

And one big scalp:

Rose Eyes DOMINATION In The Serie C Cup

The groups have been drawn for the Serie C cup and as usual Rose is very confident of what his team are capable of. Rose firmly believes his Verona team will not only be able to top the group, but top it without a loss.

Here's the group:

Rose's Promise Is Delivered

I managed to win the group convincingly against the inferior opposition I was playing. The main highlight was Stancu scoring so many to win the games. Not one defence knows what to do with him, he is rapid and good in the air.

The Mid Way Point

So far in the league the boys have done well we have managed to claim top of the league and brushed most teams aside in the cup quite easily, but I still feel something is missing.............a set piece taker!!!! With the window closing I went in search of one desperately!!

These are my signings:

Jorge Bohme: This guy was a legend at one point in Germany but now at 33 he finds himself out of favour and on the transfer list, he maybe old but he can keep up with the pace of Serie C1/A and B I think. He is also an excellent set piece player and the sort of player I needed.
Greg Berhalter: I needed a defender at short notice as I lost one of mine to a very luxurious offer of 75k and to get him off the wage budget. Berhalter is good enough to soak up the pressure of attacks in this division I firmly believe.
Manuel Cervini: A loan from Roma and so I was stuck with him, he performed averagely and got injured.
Marc Nygaard: I noticed that target men were doing well in other leagues so I though I would join in by buying my own.
Adrian Pit: A loan from Roma.

These guys were the next step of the Unique Regime change that had brought into Hellas to turn their fortunes, only time will tell if its a good set of choices or not.

Mixed Fortunes For Hellas Boss

Verona boss Greg Rose must have woken up this morning and said to himself pinch me I must be dreaming or that he had drunk too much the night before in the celebrations after his new look team took the Serie C1/A title.

In an interview after the last game of the league an estatic Marc Nygaard, a january transfer gamble, said that he was over the moon with winning the league and that he owes his boss a great big thank you for saving him from almost self destruction at QPR. He went on to say I have never play such exciting football in my career and he welcomes the Unique Regime way to play.

Rose BLASTS Team

Hellas Verona's road to the cup final could have been described by many as.......Easy!! This game in the final was meant to be easy but to be honest they looked lazy and underestimated their opponents and they were left stunned when they lost the final on away goals.

Verona's boss Rose was interviewed a couple of days after the game and said that his team were not good enough and if they play like this in next weeks game then they can kiss that cup away too. Many think that the Hellas Verona team lost because they took their foot off the pedal after the cup and many also believe Rose will not stand for bad performance again.

Rose RELIEVED Season is Over!!!

This afternoons second leg in the Serie C Super Cup saw a mighty and hurt Hellas team dominate and control a game against a strong opposition.

Rose said after the game, I'm glad the season is over. Now I can look forward to the summer and build more of this team to take them to the Serie A. After being questioned about Serie B and Verona's past disappointments Rose commented that the team had been guided to misfortune by inexperienced managers who were out of their depth unlike the popular and ambitious manager that he is.
