Introduction:
Tactics are very important for Football Manager. Everyone likes to talk about it and share their tactics which gave them fame and fortune. Thanks to Sports Interactive, we have the option in FM to export your own made tactics. These so called .tac files are very small, easy to download and can be imported into your game without any effort. For the ones who are unfamiliar with using the tactics of others or people who have problems getting them imported, here is a guide which should help you to play matches with the tactics made by others.

Step1: Download a tactic and put it in the correct directory.
First stop is to download a tactic made by someone else and uploaded on a site. A good place to get one is in the Downloads Centre on FMFormation. Go to the tactic you would like to use and click on the Download button. Your web browser will ask you what to do with the file. Choose “Save” and the web browser will ask you where to save the file to. Tactics should be saved in “My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\tactics”. The folder “tactics” should already exist but if it doesn't you can just create it yourself. Save the file to this directory. Now open the game Football Manager.

Step2: Importing the tactic in Football Manager.
Make sure your current game is loaded in FM. On the left, click on Tactics and it will take you to the tactics screen. In the top right corner you should see "Tactic". Click on it and in the sub-menu choose "Edit Tactics". A pop-up appears in which you can import the tactic. Click on "Import" and a new pop-up called "Choose A File" appears. In this window you can select a tactic to import. Click on the tactic you just downloaded and click on "Select". It will take you back to the "Edit Tactics" window. Click on "Ok".
Back in the "Tactics Screen", click on "Tactic" again in the top right corner. In the sub-menu choose "Archived Tactics". The tactic which you imported a minute ago will be shown. Click on the tactic and the tactic will be loaded. You know that you've loaded the new tactic when the name behind "Positions" has changed.

That's it! You can now play with another tactic and try to get the same quality results as the creator of the tactic did.
