Introduction: Most laptops and some monitors don’t support the windowed mode of FM. Fortunately for us, there is a way to get around that and force FM to play it in this mode anyway. You can use this trick without any risks of harming your pc or laptop, however, it could be that not everything in FM will fit on your screen. Step1: How to create a shortcut. First step is to create a shortcut on your desktop for FM. The chance is pretty big that you’ve already got a shortcut since it’s automatically created when installing the game. If you have a shortcut on the desktop you can skip this step. For the ones that don’t, here is a small tutorial on how to create one. Go to where you installed FM in Windows Explorer. By default, this location is "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\". You should see a file called "fm.exe". Do right-mouse-click on "fm.exe" and choose "Send To -> Desktop (create shortcut)". Step2: The properties of your Football Manager 2008 shortcut. Now go to your desktop and you should see the Football Manager 2008 icon. Next do right-mouse-click on the icon and choose "Properties". A new window appears. If you want to make sure the icon is a shortcut and not the .exe file goto the tab "General". Under the tab "General" you should see a line with "Size". The size should be under 1KB (1,000 bytes) or somewhere near that. If the size is a couple of MB's you don't have a shortcut of fm.exe and should get back to Step1. Now go to the tab "Shortcut" if you aren't there already. The line we are going to change is "Target". If you've installed FM to the default installation directory, the Target line should read "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\fm.exe" (with brackets). If you've installed it to another directory it should show that one. We are now going to alter the Target line so FM is being forced to open in windowed mode. Go to the end of the Target line. Make sure there is a space after fm.exe" and type "-windowed -small_screen" (without the brackets) behind it. The line should now read "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\fm.exe" -windowed -small_screen. Click on "Apply" and "OK". Now open Football Manager 2008 by double clicking on the icon. Step3: Changing the properties of Football Manager 2008. When FM has opened, go to "Preferences" and click at the left on "Display & Sound". In the right top corner you should see "Full Screen". Uncheck the box at the left on it and click on "Confirm" in the bottom right corner. Football Manager 2008 should change to windowed mode. | | | | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to Bozza For This Useful Post: | | 21-05-08, 06:22 PM | #2 (permalink) | | Decent Youngster Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 5 Thanks: 2 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts | My FM 2008 Can play windowed Hi guys, Like the picture above, my fm can play windowed, setting failed.
