Fluminense are one of the big 4 Rio sides, along with Flamengo, Vasco de Gama and Botofogo. Fierce rivals with Flamengo, they are generally regarded as representing the richer middle class part of the city, although this is becoming less of an opinion.

They play thier games at the world famous Maracana Stadium

They boast some excellent players amongst the first team but South American clubs rarely manage to keep hold of thier stars for long. Top European clubs ofton have ex-Fluminense players in thier ranks (Marcelo of Real Madrid for example). But what makes the club really special is it's amazing youth set up.

The club has invested heavily in it's structure and even from an early age players are embedded into the club's way of thinking.

Man Utd have recently signed identical twins Fabio and Rafael from the club and managing Fluminense on FM gives you the chance to watch the next generation of superstars emerge (even if you wont manage to stop them leaving for Europe).

And just to prove the point, Fluminense's youth set-up currently includes Kalani, the next big thing. Aged err...5.

The squad, almost exclusively Brazillian have many versatile players which is helpful for covering injured players. The Brazil mentality of training thier defenders to also be wingers means that it is a good idea to use attacking wing backs whenever possible. Slow tempo short passing with counter attacking through the wing backs has given me the most sucess so far on FM (though it is early days)

The number of wing backs and defensive midfielders in the squad may mean you want to off-load one or 2 but if you want to raise transfer funds then selling the 3 best players - Thiago Silva, Thiago Neves and Soares is unfortunatly your best option.

A good run in the Copa Libertadores will bring in welcome revenue.

Screenshots below show the 3 best players in 2012.

POTENTIAL SIGNINGS

The small initial transfer budget does limit your choices but the following, with the exception of Felipe who may join on loan are all excellent signings within the limit to spend.
The 2 Argentinian players in particular go on to become very decent players.

Yeah could have done with a squad list who to buy/sell ect but anyway.

I just signed a promising lad called Joao Paulo from there looks great so far

I knew this was coming.

First off, I am not one to jump on the 'Great Guide! KUGW!' bandwaggon. If i don't think it's up to scratch then i will say. If i lie and tell him that his guide is good (which in my opinon is not) then he will make more guides to the same standard.

Secondly, i am not paid by this forum to write up guides, therefore i will write them when i feel like it.

i did'nt say it was good or bad, i gave him some costructive critisism. This way its better then saying its crap. Just be helpful, give out some good advice and dont slate people all the time.

btw i aint paid to make guides, i make them cause i like making them.

Good guide here mate if you want me tbh it could be better. Try doin some of the things that john was talking about and then it would be alot better.

Thanks for the comments guys - I'd intended this to be a lot better but ended up having to rush it. Will edit it when I get a chance and try to improve it.

FM Scotland - a difference in opinion is what forums are all about so no problem - but why not try to avoid hurting peoples feelings - the next person might not be as thick skinned as me mate.

With this new information, the guide has taken some shape. Especially with some info on the squad. Just remember to incorporate all this into your next guide.
If you write future guides as well as you write your story mate, then I'm sure you're going to be one of FMF's best writer's.
