Gretna were promoted on the last day of the scottish season last year with a last minute goal. In real life, the club have not fared well in the Scottish Premiership, with the club bottom and entering administration mid way through. The youth academy and a lot of the first team have been realised making FM very unaccurate, hopefully the next FMF update will fix this! A change of manager before the season upset the delicate balance at Gretna, with Davie Irons replacing Rowan Alexander. The club appeared in Europe last season after reaching the final of the Scottish Cup, the final was against Hearts, who reached the champions league that year. Gretna will hopefully exist next year and continue to ply their trade in the Scottish Football Leagues.
Who to buy?
As manager of Gretna , you will need to sign players for almost every single position with most of the team needing to be sold to survive at this level. The best players in the team are Aurellin Collin, Arthur Krysiak and Gavin Skelton. The main weak areas are the right side of the pitch and the team lacks and out and out goalscorer, who can score 20-30 a season. Without improvements to the weak, weak positions the club will be severely outclassed every match and as a result will definitely relegated.
Playing Gretna is a good challenge for every type of manager, the experience and the inexperience. Its all about the players you and your rivals sign as I've seen the Gretna team remain the same and achieve a Euro Vase place. So really managing Gretna is all about luck. Good luck with Gretna and thank you for reading this guide.
