I can never seem to get a 4-4-2 diamond to work... I've not really created many of my own tactics, but the ones i have i've faired well! Now i'm pretty sure i know alot about football, i've watched it for over 20 years and i play at a fairly good standard... so it frustrates me when i can't seem to get the diamond formation to work! e.g with teams like liverpool and man utd, knowing how both teams play i should be able to give simelar player instructions on FM as they would have in real life and would hope to get simelar results. Obviously when i try and make a diamond for lower league sides, i expect teething problems... which i'm willing to work on and try to correct. But if i play a diamond with my strongest utd team, results never seem to happen!? To cut a long story short, what i'm asking is... does anyone have a decent diamond they could let me download, because it's my favourite formation and i'm getting upset not being able to use it! Any help will be very much appreciated! Hope i haven't bored the arse off you!

the 4-4-2 diamond always seems to work at man utd for some reason even though the dont have a great DM. But then scholes is great maybe he makes up for it. i used the diamnond formation for my united team and the won 2 Leagues,2 Fa Cups and 1 champo cup.

i posted once in the forum for the previous version .
it still works though.

what i did for my tactics is that i play through the wings , free-role for my AMC .
settings of the team to hard tackle, zonal defence.

Speaking from a purely defensive stand point...

one up top formations seem to work better in this game as do wingers who put pressure on the opposition full backs which is why I found the 4-3-3 or equilivant was a fm 2008 mainstay (at least in version 1). Now version 2 is out, im not sure.

I've always been fond of the 4-4-2 diamond attacking formation, which I have modified of course so that it fits my Juventus team. Played the same formation last three seasons, and have won everything possible to win. I'll upload it for you, but I'm not sure that it works in England though, only used it in the Serie A and Champions League...

can you help me to organize deffence well. i play Newcastle. i used 4-3-1-2 tactics. but i conceded 95 goals and goal 155. i want to organize my defence. should you givee me solutions???

This is the one i've been using with Leeds and Everton.
I finished 4th with Everton in the first season and I am 8th with Leeds in my current game, 24 games in.
It's basically a 4-4-2 diamond with an arrow from MC to DM.

I'm a big fan of the diamond 4-4-2 as you've effectively got 5 in defence and 3 in attack.

Although I've only ever managed to get it to work for United and Juventus.
