Default Pepe

Pepe
Full name
Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira
Date of birth

February 26th 1983
Place of birth
Maceio, Brazil
Height
1.87 m (6 ft 1+1⁄2 in)
Position
Centre Back

In Real Life
Pepe is a Portugal centre back who was born in Brazil. A bit like his team mate Deco i suppose.
Maritimo:Pepe's first club
At the age of 17, Pepe, along with his friend Ezequias left Brazilian youth team Corinthians to join a club called CS Maritimo who play their football on the island of Madeira. A Portuguese island. Pepe was promoted to the first team after playing only ten games and he made an incredible impact and was the first name on the team sheet every week!
The Porto days
Pepe signed for Porto for 1 million euros. About 850 000 pound!.The deal also had a clause that Maritimo would get 20% of the future transfer fee.(This clause was fantastic for them later in his career).
In his first season with Porto he was mainly on the bench. A lot different from when he was first name on the team sheet for Maritimo. In 2005/06 season though Pepe got his chance in the first team and was absolutely magnificent. He was definitely the best defender in the Portuguese League! Then Real Madrid came calling...
Pepe the Galactico
Pepe signed for Spanish club Real Madrid on the 16th of July 2007. He singed a 4 year contract and cost the Spanish club 30 million Euros(Maritimo therefore made 6 million Euros of this Transfer!)
His best performance in a Real Madrid shirt was when they beat arch rivals Barcelona 1-0. He was named man of the match!
Pepe for Portugal!
Pepe was born in Brazil but never played for any of their youth teams. He gained Portuguese nationality in August 2007.
He made his debut for them in a Euro 2008 qualifier against Poland.
When Euro 2008 came around he was one of the first names on the team sheet and grabbed his first International goal with a great run and finish against the co-host nation, Switzerland.
However, Portugal's defence looked shaky all the way through the tournament and they finally went out to Germany in the Quarter Finals. Being defeated 3-2.

On Football Manager 2008
These are Pepe's stats in the second season on Football Manager:

Strengths

As you can see he is best with his physical attributes and he is a very pacy player who will last the whole match due to his immense stamina.
His best stats are:
Pace 18
Natural fitness 18
Acceleration 18
Agility 17
Jumping 17
Stamina 17

Weaknesses
The image shows that Pepe may need to improve his tackling and passing if he was to shine in the Premier League.
His best stats are:
His weaknesses are:
Corners 7
Crossing 7
Penalty Taking 8
Finishing 9

However, none of these really apply to his position as a centre back.

Transfer Status

Pepe is regarded as used in squad rotation. However, he usually starts for Madrid in games. He would be very hard to sign and I think he would only go to clubs like Inter,Man. Utd, Chelsea or Milan. His transfer value is 14 million however, I believe you will have to pass the 20 million mark to sign this player. He has quite a low wage though only 24 000 pounds. Not that much for a Galactico! It will also be hard to sign him as he really enjoys playing for Real Madrid.
His contract expires 30/12/2012 but I believe you will be very lucky if you get him on a free transfer as I believe he will be offered a new contract before then.

Where to play him?
Pepe will definitely perform best as a centre back and will probably need another steady centre back next to him like John Terry. He can also play sweeper, defensive mid and centre mid but I would only play him here if he was last resort.

Conclusion
In my opinion Pepe will be a good signing for a big club as he will help steady your defence. However, I believe there are much better centre backs on the game that you will be able to get for cheaper so I would say buy Pepe if you have the money, but if you aren't as rich as Madrid or Man utd. Look elsewhere for your centre backs.e.g the forums

If I had to give Pepe a rating out of 10 I would probably give him a 9.

Thanks so much for reading my guide. This is my first ever guide and it took me a while so be nice on the comments!
Thanks again
