He was picked as a youth to play in Boavista F.C., where he stayed until picked by José Mourinho in 2003-04 for his FC Porto squad, where he was used sparingly (11 league games) that season. He made his UEFA Champions League debut on September 16, 2003, in a 1-1 away draw with Partizan Belgrade (playing 8 matches in the club's victorious campaign). Fully established as a right-back (he started as a midfielder) and Porto's first-choice since 2004-05, after the departures of Paulo Ferreira and veteran Carlos Secretário, Bosingwa was a vital element in the team's conquest of four league titles in five seasons. The season ended on a sour note as, in May 2005, Bosingwa was at the wheel of his jeep when excess speed and wet road conditions led to a serious accident, with the vehicle skidding off the motorway and rolling down an embankment before bursting into flames. Along with the Porto player, four other footballers travelled, including then-Boavista player Nélson. All escaped alive, but one of them, Sandro Luís (player of modest Grupo Desportivo Os Minhocas), had to have his left foot amputated as a result of the accident, which took place in Valongo. Bosingwa was subsequently suspended by the club. On 11 May 2008, Porto announced that Bosingwa had come to verbal agreements with Chelsea for a €20.6million/£16.3m transfer. He put pen to paper on a 3-year deal, and joined the London club after Euro 2008, along with Portugal national team boss Luiz Felipe Scolari and fellow international Deco. Thanks to his consistent performances at club level, Bosingwa became a regular in the Portugal squad since 2007, overtaking Miguel as the country's first choice right-back. He also represented his nation in the 2004 Olympic Games, in Athens and the 2004 under-21 European championship. Bosingwa was named in the Portguese Squad for the Euro 2008 Championships. Portugal were knocked out in the quarter finals and Bosingwa was a starter in 3 of their 4 matches, playing at right back. In each match he performed exceptionally, leading to him being named in the UEFA team of the tournament. In Football Manager 2008, Bosingwa is a very good right-back, playing at the highest possible level. Although he has signed for Chelsea in real life, Bosingwa will start at FC Porto until the new patch or FMF's Database Update is released! Bosingwa should be first choice right-back in Portugal, and Chelsea too. He is a good player in Football Manager, one of the most under-rated players ever to be included in FM! He will perform spectacularly at the right-back/right wing back position, but will also pop up with a few goals and assists throughout the season! Thanks Stu for the screenshot Image will be added tonight, ImageShack is taking too long! As you can see, any chance of Bosingwa's stats improving are slim! However, he is still a great player, and later on in the guide I will direct you to my recommended schedule that could help Bosingwa improve his stats remarkably. If you are looking to sign Bosingwa in the first season, he will not come cheap. You may need to fork out up to £8,000,000 for him! It may seem a lot for someone who has bad stats, but he is one of those 'awkward' players, who has bad stats, but you pay a lot for him and he plays really really good! Bosingwa is on an average wage at the start, £24,000 per week, but if you are trying to sign him for a higher reputation club, his wage demand will shoot up as high as £60,000 a week! Bosingwa plays best at right-back, with a short forward run into the right wing-back position. In his instructions, it is best to make him run forward often, cross the ball often, and cross from deep, then make your winger do the same on cross from byline! That is how to get the best out of Bosingwa! With my own personal experience of Bosingwa, you will get the best from him using Wozza's Widge 4-2-2-2 Tactic. The best training schedule to improve Bosingwa, I have found Zol!'s training the best. Unfortunately, it is not uploaded on here. Drop me a PM or add me on MSN (address in my profile) and I will send you it! Bosingwa has some key attributes which I consider to be his strongest! They are: Dribbling (17) Technique (17) Off The Ball (18) Pace (18) Acceleration (18) As you can see, Bosingwa fits the role I have been describing throoughout the review perfectly! He is quick, good at dribbling, and also has a 14 for crossing! This proves he is one of the best right-backs in the game! The only weaknesses Bosingwa has got is stats that a right-back doesn't need. They are; Free Kicks, Finishing and Corners! This wont make a difference to your game unless you play Bosingwa as a striker, you want him to take your corners or your free-kicks! In conclusion, Bosingwa is a very good, international player, who could easily make it at the highest level of football in Football Manager 2008. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a right back, and in my opinion, spending £8m or him is a bargain. The only other real good right-backs in the game are Dani Alves (£40+m), Rafinha (£20+m), and Eduardo Ratinho (£8+m) 8/10 Last edited by James M; 10-07-08 at 02:50 PM. | Remember the fallen heroes! 11th November | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to James M For This Useful Post: | | 10-07-08, 02:42 PM | #2 (permalink) | | FMF Moderator Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Dundalk, Ireland Posts: 3,028 Thanks: 227 Thanked 459 Times in 380 Posts Nominated 4 Times in 4 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | excellent guide mate, loads of detail, one of the best ive read in a while to, nice gfx btw james :D Last edited by John10; 12-07-08 at 09:30 PM. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to John10 For This Useful Post: | | 10-07-08, 02:43 PM | #3 (permalink) | | FMF's Toon Army Spiderman and member of the Writers Crew Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: wiltshire Posts: 2,663 Thanks: 313 Thanked 669 Times in 639 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Fantastic stuff there mate and a cracking guide well done | Signature-Care of Ru Top FMF GFX Artist Current game-None!!! One of the best I've read on this site and that's saying something because I've written a couple. Just check your coding on the transfer stats screenshot as you've missed out a ] at the end so the link is only there and not the picture. Cracking guide though. Well done. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to liveru For This Useful Post: | | 10-07-08, 02:50 PM | #6 (permalink) | | For Then Those Evil Eyes; They Have No Place In Paradise!
