Podolski began playing football at the age of six in the youth team of FC Bergheim, where he played until he joined Köln in 1995. It was there where Podolski's talents were first noticed by first team boss Marcell Koller who under his reign gave Podolski's Bundesliga Debut in which Podolski went on to set a record of the best record or a 18 year old in the Bundesliga with 10 goals in 19 appearances for Köln. This also led to him being called up to the German National Team for the Euro 2004 but still stayed with Köln even tho they was relegated and went on to become the 2.Bundesliga top goalscorer and a first team member of the German national team.
after another promotion and relegation for Köln and his success in the National Team he ended up leaving to the Giants FC Bayern Munich for roughly 10m Euro's. which he is currently of the first team members and also becoming a major star is the recent Euro 2008 in which he came 2nd in the tournament top goalscorer behind Spain's David Villa.

As Your Can See Podolski Has many strengths and some very good stats for his age.
In My Opinion he is best played as a fast striker playing off a target man for example Luca Toni or Miroslav Klose who are his strike partners at Bayern Munich as this would work to his strengths with his speed and good finishing, one weakness that can be noticed is his lack of aerial presence at only 5ft 11 and 9 in jumping and 8 in heading he will not win many headers this is why hes best having a partner who can win those important headers
His Potential In Fm 08:
In Fm 08 Podolski still has potential to improve even more and become a even more deadly force for any team to have upfront as you can see from this screenshot after 3 seasons he has become a very deadly force.
