In Real Life:
A product of the Rangers youth system and renowned dead-ball specialist, Charlie Adam just finished his second full campaign in the Rangers first team. Following up last year's SPL Young POY season proved difficult for the left footed mid-fielder, but his consistent performances led to a steady place in the lineup during European nights, with Charlie netting 2 goals in 11 appearances in continental competitions.
The son of former footballer Charles Adam, young Charlie appears to have a bright future ahead of him not only at Rangers but in the Scottish National Team as well, collecting his first two caps in early-summer 2008. The signing of a five year contract at Ibrox at the end of the 06-07 season has ensured that Gers supporters will be seeing #11 for quite some time, and if early returns bear out his career for the Light Blues looks very promising.
In FM 08:
Adam is a competent player at four midfield positions: CM, CAM, LM, and LAM. He starts the game on the Rangers reserve team but is certainly capable of playing in the SPL at the onset. Plays the best in the CAM role, playing behind the striker. Capable of holding the ball up very well as his strength allows him to fend off tight markers. Good for taking long shots, free kicks and corners. Good role model for young players as his career progresses. Rarely puts in a bad game and is nearly impossible to unsettle. Can be susceptible to injuries although in my experience hasn't suffered many. Strong option at all four positions for UEFA Cup+ level clubs, including mid-tier EPL teams.

Career Stats through half of 2015-2016
Tactical Instructions:
Dead ball specialist.
Have him take 75% of your corners and free kicks close to the goal.
Long shooting ability is very good and can bend the ball with the best of them. Able to be implemented as a
playmaker if used in the CAM role although his first touch lacks at times. Passing is clean and precise and should be used to play through balls to the strikers.
Likes to switch the field if on the left so having a striker lingering on the far post is not a bad option. Makes very few mistakes with the ball and is
strong enough to hold up play while the rest of the players catch up. Decent on the tackle for an offensive player so you can use him to close down their backline and CDMs.
Creative on the ball and rarely out of position.
Strengths:
Free kick specialist, should be your first choice for any kick within 35 yards. Creative with the ball and will give you loads of assists, especially if used to take most corners. Very strong on the ball and can fight off defenders and create scoring opportunities on his own. Confident finisher and good for a handful of precise strikes a year from around 25 yards.
Weaknesses:
Not a runner, should not be your first option on the left but is capable of creating plays wide. Slow for an attacker. Can be injury prone.
Conclusion:
Definitely a quality player for SPL/Championship/Mid-tier EPL sides. Takes a lot of pressure of the strikers as he's able to hold up play allowing them to roam more and find space around the goal. Versatility makes him an appealing option for teams with small squads. Good leader, solid performer in Europe, fully capable of getting the job done at the highest level with the right players around him. His determination underpins his entire game; definitely a player you can count on in a tight game late to get the job done.
