Posts: 1,414 Thanks: 104 Thanked 99 Times in 92 Posts Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Christopher Samba Christopher Samba Information Full Name: Christopher Veijeany Samba Club: Blackburn Rovers Position: CB Value: 400k - Can be bought for as little as 700k Contract: £20,000 per week until 30.06.2012 D.O.B: 28.03.1984 Nationality: Congo DR (Born in France so has a second nationality of French) Languages: French, German & English (basic) Reputation: National Personality: Balanced Squad Status: Important first team player In Real Life Struggling to break into the first team he was invited by Mark Hughes to undertake a five-day trial at Blackburn Rovers, eventually signing a three and a half year deal for £400,000 on January 25, 2007. He made his Rovers debut against Luton Town in the FA Cup 4th Round, as a 69th minute sub for Ryan Nelsen and his Premiership debut on January 31 against Chelsea. His first start for the club came in the home encounter against Sheffield United on February 3, 2007, a game Rovers won 2–1 with an injury time free kick from Morten Gamst Pedersen. Although he already played for Hertha Berlin in the UEFA Cup, Samba was eligible to play for Blackburn in European competitions. Samba scored his first goal at Ewood Park against West Ham on March 17, 2007. Despite having been born in France, Samba represents the Congo national football team at the international level. Samba has made 20 caps for Congo DR. In FM08: On FM08 Samba is a very reliable defender, as well as being a very relaible goalscorer, if you are using the corner trick that is. Samba has very good stats for a defender, he is great at heading, marking, tackling, jumping, strength and positioning. You will see this in the spoiler below as I have given you a screenshot of Samba's attributes. Strengths Samba is very good at being the aggressive defender that every striker fears, however he uses this aggression to benefit his game and rarely gets booked or sent off. If you use the 'corner trick' and use Samba to the right effect he will net tonnes of goals for you. Weaknesses Samba doesn't really have any weaknesses. However if I was to pick one, it would be how he handles himself off the ball. If you set Samba to zonal marking, his 'Off the ball' attribute is not very good so he doesnt really know what hes doing. It is therefore better to set Samba to man-marking. Conclusion To conclude; I believe Samba to be a very good signing for any team. He will happily sign for most Prem sides meaning he is a must-have at only 700k or there abouts. I have also found out that Samba plays better in the French league, I found this out when I managed Lyon. I don't know if this was a coincidence because of his French second nationality or a one-off on my game.
