He is considered a very talented young French striker currently playing for FC Girondins de Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1. He is noted for his speed and dribbling ability and thus his playing style is often likened to players such as David Trezeguet, Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry. Despite interest from Real Madrid and Juventus he has stated that he wishes to remain in France to further his development. I first stood up and took notice of this player while watching Bordeaux's demolition of Monaco 6-0 on Setanta Sports a few weeks back. Talented and assured on the ball, his running and crossing was a nightmare for the defence of Monaco. He also managed to get himself on the scoresheetin injury time in that game. This is another player who will probably be plying his trade in England, Spain or Italy in the next few years. On FM08: At the moment he is in my opinion one of the rising stars of the french game. Still a little on the young side to make an immediate impact to your club, train him up and send him on loan to a smaller side and he will return with a vengeance. Strengths: Dribbling, Flair and Acceleration, all 16 at the start of the game. Off the ball too he is very mindful, and also has a lot of technique (17) and good first touch (14). He is quite a creative player and will often try to unlock a defence with a cheeky pass, as well as run rings around them. He is naturally good in the air (standing at over 6ft) and has good jumping and agility attributes. Weaknesses: His weaknesses are mostly down to his age. He starts FM08 as a wide eyed 18 year old, loads of raw talent but several other issues which need immediate attention. He is let down by his finish and composure (8 and 13) and his positioning and teamwork (both 8) need to have an eye kept on them. However, I had him on the books at Valencia after halfway through the season, and his stats improved, especially if you let him have a substitution's run out in a game for the first team, where you are winning. Keep working on his striking though, and soon he will reach 15 for both, and with that his positioning improves too, however, he always seems to be a selfish player, on mine his teamwork never went above 10. Gabriel Obertan in action In Conclusion: Another player well worth a look at, maybe indeed a future Henry if trained right. By the time I'd finished with Valencia he was on loan at Charlton and doing really well, his value had soared from 2.5million up to 5.5million when I left. I'm not too sure he'll be a new Henry from what I've seen of him in the game but he is a pretty good player none the less. Back on topic, another good guide Harty. You're pumping them out as quick as Adam. Keep up the great work mate. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to liveru For This Useful Post: | | 08-05-08, 12:01 PM | #3 (permalink) | | What Bozza can do with an orange, I can do with a grape!
