The young Saudi striker nicknamed "The Sniper" sprang to prominence in the 2006 World cup, bagging a goal against Tunisia and then becoming Top Goalscorer in the 2007 Asia Cup, where he was named the youngest Saudi Captain in history. Al-Qahtani has an impressive international record, scoring 44 goals in only 54 games. As a result, he has begun to draw attention from a number of European clubs with the most promising being that of Manchester City who negotiated with the starlet and his club but an arrangement couldn't be reached. In Football Manager Yasser Al-Qahtani, (Or Yaser as it is in FM) is quite simply a brilliant bargain buy, rivaling other cheap gems such as Kikin Fonseca. I found Yasser after scouting the Asia region for cheap players for my recently promoted Sheffield Wednesday team, Al-Qahtani topped the list. I had no problem landing the striker in the 08/09 season in which he became immense for the owls, becoming the number one striker and keeping the likes of Maxi Lopez on the bench. Tactical Instructions They don't call him "The Sniper" For nothing... Al-Qahtani used properly can be a goal scoring machine. I've found that Al-Qahtani works best when he is the Target man and the ball is played to feet so he can use his immense finishing skills and technique to bag the goals. Strengths Al-Qahtani is in a similar mould of Alexander Frei in my previous guide, he is quite simply an amazing finisher, with brilliant composure and finishing ability, coupled with his first touch and technique, there is no doubt the Saudi will rack up his goal tally. Weaknesses Apparently, this Saudi is firmly planted to the ground, perhaps he is wearing the new Nike Cement-pro X boots, with a jumping ability of 2, this striker isn't leaving the ground for too long. Conclusion Al-Qahtani is beginning to gain the attention he rightly deserves from Europe, the 24 year old sniper should not be overlooked for lower premier league teams for a cheap goal scorer who they can rely on.
