He started his career at Excelsior Rotterdam. He's of Italian descent and thus still eligible for both Dutch and Italian National teams. He's also a penalty specialist, he hasn't missed a penalty in the Eredivisie so far. While at Excelsior Bruins had been linked with the top four Dutch teams (Ajax Amsterdam, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord Rotterdam and PSV Eindhoven) as well as with Tottenham Hotspur FC. He decided to play for Feyenoord Rotterdam and signed a contract there for several years and joined the team after the 2006-07 season.[1] In 2007 Bruins was called up by Jong Oranje coach Foppe de Haan to be part of his squad for the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship held in the Netherlands that secured a semi final spot and that qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Later the final was reached with a 1-1, 13-12 win after a penalty shootout with 32 penalty kicks taken against England. The Dutch went on to retain their 2006 title by beating Serbia 4-1 in the final; Bruins scored the fourth Dutch goal. In Football Manager '08 Bruins starts of at Feyenoord and is cheap. He soon attarcts the attention of a lot of the big European club. This kid can go on to great things and with a little attention and some good training you have the potential to have a superstar. Tactical Instructions He can play in the middle of the park but I would recommend him playing just off the main striker as an attacking midfield. This kid can dictate a game for you in the same as a Messi/Aimar. Strengths There are many strengths, most notably his youth. An initial investment can see you get 10 years from this player. He is exciting and very attack minded and also a dead ball specialist and from the penalty spot he is clinical. Also the kid has bundles of technique (every club should have a technically gifted player) and is a workhorse for his team, which is unusual for such a technically gifted player (example – Ronaldinho, Ronaldo etc) Weakness's When things are going bad for your team and you are looking for leaders on the pitch to grab the game by the balls, you wont find Bruins doing that. He is great when things are going well but tends to go missing when things are bad. Also if you play him as a central midfielder, his man marking is dreadful and he tends to pick up a lot of bookings. Conclusion This kid is good, I bought him for Newcastle for €12 million and he was only 20. Already an integral part of my team and he has fitted in to the premiership no bother. When its time to add some flair to your team and your looking for a player to dictate games, Bruins could be your answer | League Champions 1951/52, 1954/55, 1955/56, 1989/90, 1995/96, 1996/98, 1998/99, 2001/02 Runners-Up 1960/61, 1987/88 F.A.I. This kid looks good. I've never used him. When I was Feyenoord, he'd already left so I never got the chance to use him. I must have a look at him from now on. | | | | 05-04-08, 12:16 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Co-founder of the cult Ruism Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Dundalk, Ireland Posts: 2,366 Thanks: 195 Thanked 309 Times in 249 Posts | nice work mate, he looks like he could be a great signing, i might have a look at him now | Current Game SV Red Bull Salzburg Austrian Bundesliga Champions 2007/2008 Austrian Super Cup Winners 2008 Hang on I better say "Red Bull, it gives you wings" or ill be sacked | | | 05-04-08, 01:11 PM | #4 (permalink) | | What Bozza can do with an orange, I can do with a grape!
