Newsletter March 2008
Newsletter March 2008
Posting the Newsletter on the Forums was a great success so here is again the Newsletter of last month. We will also send out a mail to all the members of FMF, notifying them about this month's Newsletter.
This Newsletter might be shorter than the February one but there are some important things mentioned in it and we ask everyone to take a couple of minutes to read it through carefully.
Winner Member of the Month February(March 1, 2008) Let’s all shake the hand of the winner of MOTM February 2008, Leachy-boi91. Congratulations for winning this award and also congrats to the rest who were nominated, great job guys! Celebrate it with Leachy-boi91…
Removal of the Post Groan Mod(March 28, 2008) After a long period of testing, we’ve decided to remove the Post Groan Mod and only keep the Post Thank You Mod. There are two reasons why this mod has been removed. The first reason because some people are busing the mod. The second reason is connected to the first one. Pretty much every time that someone groans at another member, the member gets angry and you’ll get a so called groan-fight. We don’t think having the Post Groan Mod does any good at all and only makes members angry and disappointed. That is why we’ve removed the mod.
The Post Thank You Mod will stick around since we think it’s an excellent feature for a Football Manager fansite and this way, when there has been a useful post/thread, members can choose between a good reply or a quick “Thanks” by using the button. It’s all about getting recognition for your work and in our opinion, this is the best way to achieve that.
Shoutbox: The New Rules(March 2008) John10 took the liberty to write a new rulebook for the shoutbox. In the past months, the shoutbox has been the victim of some big fights and abuses. With these new and strict rules, we intend to get rid of the downside of having a shoutbox and concentrate on the good points. Please follow the rules and the norms and values which your parents taught you.
In the future, there will be some slight changes to the shoutbox. A new channel will be added for FM-related talk. This will be the main channel of the shoutbox and you can only talk about Football Manager in here and nothing else. The current channel will stay active and function as a second channel, a “About Nothing” channel. Keep an eye on the latest news for more information soon… Read the Shoutbox Rules.
Exclusive For Donators: An Inside Look at the New Site(March 2008) We are currently in the process of designing a new site for FMFormation. Comparing to other sites, we believe that FMF is way behind other sites when it comes to a sleek design and professional look. Just not get it wrong though. The content on FMF is really good and we’ve got tons of quality members on the site. Now it’s hopefully time to match the looks with the content. The process of making a new site for FMF is an intense one and will cost a lot of time and effort. We are still in the early stages but already, we think that it is coming along pretty fine and we wanted to let know that there will be a new site one day.
A short explanation on what the new site will be like. The site will be separated from the Forums. You won’t be able to log-in on the site nor registering for an account. It will be totally an information based homepage to give visitors the ease of browsing through content and to make sure that everyone who visits fmformation.net gets to see a quality design with a good and fresh look. The Forums will pretty much stay exactly how it is now. We might consider a new layout to match it more with the colors of the new site.
As for the Donators, we are always looking for new ways to give them special features and show our appreciation for their donation(s). We’ve come up with an idea to connect the Donators Group with the development of the new site. Donators will be kept informed with all of the latest developments regarding the layout, graphics and content. We will do that by posting screenshots in the Donators Section called Donator’s Lounge and ask for opinions and ideas. It is prohibited for Donators to share these screenshots with members outside the Donator’s Group. When the time is right, everyone will be informed with this info.
If you aren’t a Donator yet, please consider to become one. Not only do you get a lot of special features but you will also help out the site big time with their conquest to pay the many bills. How can I become a Donator?
50,000 Members Milestone(March 2008) What a milestone. 50,000 members, an incredible number and something worth mentioning. At this moment, there is only one FM fansite who has more members than FMF and that is FMUnderground. However, FMU exists for many years and FMF recently celebrates the second anniversary. The gap between the both sites is minimal and we are positive that, within the upcoming weeks, we can call FMF the FM fansite with the most registered members. For now, lets celebrate reaching the 50,000 members milestone.
Just like with the second anniversary, the beer and cake is available in the FMF Lounge and free of charge.
Writer’s Group: The Future Plans(March 2008) The beloved and immortal Sir Fedorico Roma Fan has come up with a great idea to give our Guides & Articles section more meaning and of better quality. The idea is that good writers join a special group so they can work together and improve the quality of their guides/articles. Normally, we will ask someone to join the Writer’s Group when we’ve seen some good guides or articles from that someone. Occasionally, a member can contact us when he thinks he deserves it or he is new to FMF but has already released a lot of guides/articles on other sites. When applying, a form will ask you to include some previous work.
The Writer’s Group will not get access to the Crew section. They will get their own user title and an unique username color, which always looks good. More information about the Writer’s Group and how to apply for it will appear soon. So stay tuned…
Top 3 Stories: Write And Be Rewarded(March 2008) There has been some quality stories for FM2008 and we are certain there are more to follow. To give the stories more publicity, we’ve decided to launch the “Stories Of The Month” idea. The best three stories at the beginning of the month will be awarded the “SOTM” and will be made sticky for a whole month. This means that, even when there has been a reply to another story, your story will stay on top of the section. So the spotlights will be on your story for an entire month.
WozzaWolves is the top moderator of the Writer’s Section and will be the big boss of this concept. At the end of each month, the staff will decide which three stories will become the “SOTM” for the upcoming month. So write good, be creative, be unique, just do your best and your story might get rewarded with the “SOTM”.
Member of the Month March(March 2008) The sadness of an old month ending means the happiness of a new Member of the Month award to been given away. Enough has happened in the past month and we think these are the nominees for the Member of the Month March award.
* T.H * Liveru * Apthered * Stokie4Life
Happy voting everyone and remember guys… stay active on the Forums, try to be unique and you’ll probably be nominated for MOTM April. It’s that easy! Go to the voting and discussion topic!
Donations We would like to ask everyone to consider making a donation if you haven't done so already. Becoming a Donator is pretty cheap (5 euros for 1 year, 10 euros for 2 years and 15 euros for a life-time membership) and you will help this site to cover their always growing site costs. Learn more about becoming a Donator.
Comments & Suggestions? We are always happy to hear of any comments and/or suggestions you have to improve FMFormation. If so, please post it in here, in Site Feedback section or send an e-mail to admin@fmformation.net

Thanks a lot Bozza, I know you were struggling to get this submitted in time but well done anyway
Glad at the removal of the groan feature, I had a grand total of 50 groans from early on on the site when I behaved rashly and didn't think about what I was doing Happy to say I dont do that now, as much anyway!
Think the shoutbox rules are a great idea, because there's nothing more annoying than someone disregarding all the rules because it gets on everybodies nerves, and the chances are if you type improperly it will transfer into your writing skills, so it's important that FMF is educating people
The preview of the new site is a very promising prospect, and one that I'm very much looking forward to. It's an honour to be a donator on this site, and when I get a part time job in the summer when I turn 16, I would like to donate again, after saving up for a car and driving lessons of course!
What an achievement to receive over 50,000 members, and I'm very sure we will surpass the total of FM Underground in the near future!
Very excited by the level of guides coming in at the moment, and they're getting better all the time, with more and more users experimenting with different guides.
Feel very priviledged to have my idea being used on the site, and it's just as much an honour to have been nominated for SOTM for the first month. I work very hard on keeping my story updated, and I try to please and entertain you as much as possible, so thanks a lot for your support. I have already made 20 pages, and hope to progress to 30 and maybe 40 in the forseeable future.
It's another honour to have been nominated for Member of the Month for the 2nd time, and to be leading at this early stage as well. As I have stated, I will not be voting, and anyone bothered can ask for proof from me, and I wish each of my opponents the best of luck as you are all very deserving. I came 2nd last time to Hicapaul, which was amazing considering it was my first nomination and Paul is such a fantastic member, Hopefully I can go one better this time!
I am currently working on three stories, including FMF's longest ever story and FMF's first ever joint story with Wozza, as well as an SS08project with Dean, Veg and a few others.
I hope April is another fantastic month for FMF and everyone assosciated with FMF, and thanks again for the mentions Bozza

I'm still waiting for my beer and cake.
In all seriousness though, I'm very happy that FMF has reached the 50,000 mark in terms of registered members. I've enjoyed this site thoroughly and I'm sure the other 49,999 are as well.
As for the member of the month, I'm well chuffed to be nominated. Nuff said about that.
I've not looked at anything to do with the new layout because I've not really had the chance to yet but I'm sure it'll be great. It's an honour to be a donator and like TH, I will donate again. I've just gotta let me bank recover first.
John's shoutbox rules are a great idea. There's nothing more annoying than text talk. It's hard enough to understand people sometimes, you don't need to decifer text talk as well
Just one more thing...best wishes for the month ahead.
Up the FMF

I have only been on the site for just under a month and this is my first time reading of a FMF newsletter which was a good read.
Also I am happy regarding my nominee for member of the month and again I would like to thank the staff for it, now I'm trying to do graphics (Sigs and Kits) aswell as continuing with Team and League Guides so I am hoping to contribute more in the near future.

I think you'll find its 49,999 other members actually Liveru
I think the new ideas for the new site sound fantastic, and am looking forward to see how it comes about. Also removal of the groan "feature" is a long time overdue, I know a few members on here were getting utterly fed up at is overuse. Good shout for the new shoutbox ideas too, it would be nice just to chat to other guys on here about non related stuff, as many of us have made good friends on here.
All in all, superb work by the staff. Well done fellas.

Ap, you know on your profile it says Thanked 50 times etc. And it had the groan one too. If you look there is no groan count anymore. And if you also look, its not possible to groan at someones post, only thank them.
Its because someone groans at someone and then a groaning war starts
